Be sincere to yourself, do you really get patronage using bitcoin? I mean, do majority of your customers pay with bitcoin?
Do you accept bitcoin for show off or your business really needs it?
If you stop accepting bitcoin, or remove the signboard, are you going to loss customer?
Are you interested in doing business or promoting bitcoin?

The fear is real, and I have also known a few guys who shared the same stories but they were never kidnapped but they had a real threat. Well bro, I will say don't quit, but take the signboard down, but taking it down might make you think, won't be a big save but I think it can be of great help. But keep accepting btc payment from those people who are your regular customers.

But don't take new Bitcoin paying clients for some time. Always keep some amount that you don't care to lose in one wallet and move the rest and keep it somewhere else so when they ask you for bitcoin, you could give them and take the rest home but they are also smart so they will try to ask where is the rest so create two or three fake wallets with some amounts in them and move the rest somewhere else, but with your address they can track how much there was in your main wallet so use other ways, like there are services which can take one token and can give you two or more token of your choice with specified percentage and in different address so this way you can show them one address, i am talking about the one I am wearing I know it is not ideal to suggest someone this way but for the sake of giving you an idea I am telling you this, the rest is your choice,  you can use mixing services too so there won't be any way for them to track back.

Do you show off your presence in your business premises or you have people running the business for you, and again how well do you flaunt your bitcoin to the face of the public, because if you are privacy minded you should not have any much fear here since you definitely did not disclose to people around you about your bitcoin holdings.

One thing I am sure of is that, most of such attacks are worked out by people close to the victim, so check your self very well.

Can you be specific but of course no politics. There has been of concern regain insecurities in Nigeria where Bitcoin is one of the most desire asset for business people and traders but these insecurities do happen around local area and not to mention that insecurities has reduced unlike last year. Election is coming you know, the pay masters will have to stop whatever activities they are going so they can have enough people that will come and vote and then go back their usual atrocities.

If you own a business in local area, maybe you have to stop physical acceptance of Bitcoin for now but you can digitalize your business and accept Bitcoin online. There is no business that can't be done online, we have WhatsApp business, Facebook market place. If any of these platform are sensitive to Bitcoin, just add it to your description and when potential client ask you, then you can forward them your Bitcoin payment pending when the insecurities will be resolve or better still look for a secured location.

Well, safety first as everyone is saying. Remove that sticker or banner about "Bitcoin accepted here" because that seems to be the an eye opener to the criminals. What they think about Bitcoin holders are rich and even they are not and only trying to support the adoption through small means that you guys can. If you don't have much demand in your store and not a lot of your customers are paying in Bitcoin. So yes, it's best to put yourself in a better shoes first and remove that payment method you have accepted. Keep safe!

I don't think if those people was actually kidnapped as a result of having bitcoin. Infact they may not even have bitcoin at all . The reason why the kidnappers are requesting to be paid in bitcoin is simply because they don't want there identity to be known or to be tracked down. Your fears aren't justified, however you just needs to remain security conscious by not revealing to anyone the amount of bitcoin you have in your portfolio.

Do what you have to do man, this is all I can tell you, if you live in an area that is going through security issues and you are not rich enough to hire security men to guide you and your business 24/7, then do whatever you have to do to stay safe, for you and your family...

Now, I am beginning to understand why most business here in my country and my area are actually accepting bitcoin and stable coin payments but they never include that information on their sign post or even paste it anywhere in the business area, customer walk in, buy and pay either in cash or fiat transfer, the only way you get to know that they accept bitcoin payment is if you ask, and sometimes, they can even tell you No if your appearance doesn't look like it.

I think you can copy this same strategy, if you are so in need of having lots of bitcoin, you can always convert the fiat paid by customers to bitcoin.

Yes you can take down the Bitcoin payment notice board you have placed out there for your safety but so that you might not get attacked but you can also still continue your Bitcoin payments with your clients you already know and have running deals with them already.

Security is definitely a must, I don't really know what kind of business you do or where you do it, if you think that your risk level by accepting Bitcoin may increase over time then it would be better to stop accepting Bitcoin. I agree with @Cookdata you can do any business online, since accepting Bitcoin physically has become risky so you can make your business digital and accept Bitcoin through it, the risk level will be much lower comparatively.

No matter how important to use bitcoin as a mean of payment, put your safety first. We are all living in countries that don't recognize cryptocurrencies within the blockchain. Nobody will help you in such cases. If you can migrate to another country with protection regulations, or just stop accepting payments in crypto and move to another location. I am sad to say this but nothing can be done otherwise.

I understand that you’re upset and your thoughts are all over the place right now. Try to calm down, and in my opinion, temporarily take the sign down. There is nothing wrong with your concerns, and I also share your concerns about the security situation you feel if I were in your country.
Move your business signboard because it says “accepts Bitcoin payments” so that customers who are accustomed to shopping at your store will understand how easy it is to shop at your place because they already know that you accept Bitcoin payments.

Get a good backup lawyer who can defend you incase you actually transact in such situations, afterall, you are doing business where you buy and sell, those coming to your store are for business, who comes to do transaction doesn't matter at all, you are actually providing service.

If the victim's parents come to your store for business negotiation, that's fine, I don't and won't entertain any sort of silly games

But let me remind you, kidnappers also made their prior research about their future victims, so maybe when they start eyeing people who are publicly displaying their wealth in fiat and bitcoin, or these victims have been bragging about having bitcoin in their social media accounts, so expect that from that moment, their safety is already at stake.

Just live simple and private, and always stay low profile. If bad guys do not have idea that you have wealth in bitcoin, then they won't target you as their future victim.
