What I will advise here is that any newbie who receives such a PM should just tell whomever it is to make the offer public before they get involved in it otherwise they should forget about it and mind their business.

Let's just give an example of several emails sent by an old account to several users.

Got a PM about asking for Money!

I would add that it would not be a big problem if a novice, in addition to offering the sender to publish his idea publicly, also independently tells the community about the offer he received from a well-known account. As a rule, it always turns out that it's written by a hacked account, or the sender is engaged in an "underhanded game" that should not be hidden from the community.

In anything you do, try as much as possible to avoid the way you relate with people online, it's the way the outside is dangerous the internet can also be dangerous and because everyone seems to be friendly with you doesn't mean they are friendly in from their mind. Don't share much with people, your privacy is very much important as you are online.

I saw a thread some weeks ago where someone was complaining, that he received a message about investment from someone in this forum.
Sorry BitcoinFX, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages

It's the ban on BitcoinFX by sending about 100 unsolicited PMs.
You sent over 100 PMs with the same format: clear unsolicited bulk PMs. 4 people reported it, making it unwanted & unsolicited bulk PMs = spam. Most others would've been banned much longer.

People must be careful with their practice of sending PMs, for any reasons, as if receivers report their PMs, accounts have risk of getting temporary bans. The severity of a given ban will  depend on how many unsolicited PMs sent and during a long or short period.

BitcoinFX is one of first forum members and also engaged in the historic Bitcoin vs pizza trade.

Theres an old saying in real life "Dont talk to stranger" might be good to do that if you are newbie thats the best prevention to scam.

That is basically the only thing in life you need to understand. Just keep yourself out of trouble by not needlessly talking to some strangers who may or may not wish to talk you into some financial business...
This is just the best solution, don’t talk to strangers about financial issues or business in this forum except it is public, when someone makes an offer public and people do some investigations and finds it okay then you can engage in such business, members should simply avoid talking to people they don’t know on PM, even if a reputable member in this forum should PM them concerning a business they should not respond.
The problem some people are having is that they love to make quick money such persons easily get scammed.

I saw a thread some weeks ago where someone was complaining, that he received a message about investment from someone in this forum.
Most of this old members that are messaging newbies in other to scam them has already been given negative feedback by DT members in this forum, so when you see a PM from old forum members, what you should do is to check their feedback and from there feedback you will know the kind of person they are.
But I will advise, regardless of their feedback tell them to make it public or forget about it.

And for the DT members if you are giving trust to someone, make sure the member is trustworthy because if they are involved in scamming newbies here, and the newbie says he believed the member was trustworthy because of the trust you gave the member, you too will be held accountable to some extent.

Not only old members , you can fall for any members scheme in this crypto space in general. But sometimes they can message you for something good , so it boils down to their intentions when they message you , the main reason this community was created is for us crypto enthusiasts to interact and stuff , and the forum pm is another means we can interact in this forum so make good use of it .

The same goes with the old members that are being PMed by the newbies, everyone needs to be careful if they have received a message out of nowhere trying to make business deals.

It's okay if they have received it out of good faith but we can understand if it's kind of sketchy or not.

Just don't talk to someone you don't even know trying to attract you with money offers.
It is vice versa as they say, as newbies are being cautious about PM from old forum members the old forum members should know better about receiving PM from newbies. This forum is anonymous we don't know the records and true characters of each other outside this forum so we shouldn't be generous with trusting everybody. I have never received any PM so far but if I do I will be smart about it, except for a kind member that wants to correct me privately where I made a mistake or giving me good direction I will just ignore such PM if it's about any business. Since we don't know each other privately it is better to have every discussions here in the open.

I don't think there is much other ways for old members to be cautious of newbie than for newbie to be cautious of old member. One of the main reason is because of what happen in this forum. A reputable account can end up in another person hand and such persons may want to use it for bad things. A person that is new and take feed back seriously can fall into the hands of a scammer and may do everything they requested of them due to the feed back.

I don't think any old member in the forum that must have stay here for some period of time and lose everything to a newbie in the forum. I don't think such has happened recently unless the user is a person that once has a deal with the rest of the people and later decided to run away. Most times I don't think people give any financial deal with anyone unless their is colleteral, old members know about this than any exposed newbie in this forum.

Scammers are everywhere. Even in this forum, there is no exception. I think this falls more on the responsibility and challenges of a newbie to stay cautious of their actions and decisions in life. Don't trust people easily, especially if they offer something too good to be true. Regardless of their position, do not fall for them.

Just mind your own business, and let others do their thing. And the best thing to do, ignore them if you can, you will never fall on them if you never allow yourself to make it happen. At the end of the day, what will happen to you is the result of your choice of actions and decisions.

It's the ban on BitcoinFX by sending about 100 unsolicited PMs.
After all, why should you send a private message if you want to reach all Audiences, or indeed Information or links or products that will be marketed are illegal or contrary to the Forum,
if there is no problem with the product or anything it is better to create a new thread and everyone can read it, because sending a PM to people who are not even very familiar will only annoy you.

People must be careful with their practice of sending PMs, for any reasons, as if receivers report their PMs, accounts have risk of getting temporary bans. The severity of a given ban will  depend on how many unsolicited PMs sent and during a long or short period.
Maybe if it wasn't for something urgent, the PM wouldn't be needed and is really annoying and not so important.
Moreover, offering something and sending an unknown link can be dangerous. We also need to be wary of PMs from strangers or even people posing as close friends or maybe their accounts being hacked.

I saw a thread some weeks ago where someone was complaining, that he received a message about investment from someone in this forum.
Just because a older person on forum messages you doesn’t  mean you going to trust the person, or do what the person wants. Whenever you are online, never trust anyone, just try and treat everyone you meet like they are scammer, that’s really going to help you stay away from being scammed. If a member messages you about investment in forum here, just avoid the message, because at the end you just going to be scammed.

Either a old account has been tagged by DT members on the forum, or the account haven’t been tagged, just make sure you avoid any message thats about investment strategy from any member on the forum here.

A high rank or reputable member account might be compromised, and the message might not be from the rightful owner of the account. If you decide to follow what you are asked to do because the account is reputable or is an old account, then you might still be scammed.

Yes, you should definitely talk to strangers carefully, if you receive a message from a stranger on the forum, then definitely check the account and see if the account has changed hands. If you notice all these things like password change and email change, and if the person is regular on this forum or not, check it completely, if you observe his profile, you will know the correct information. Only then will you either talk to that person, or not. But don't forget to check the person.

What about accounts that get hacked and then used for such purposes? An account might have some old trust feedback and even green trust on the profile, and when a newbie checks that the account is trusted because it has positive trust feedback, they might fall for their trap. So the best thing is to completely avoid doing business with anyone approaching you through private without any prior invitation or a thread where they asked to do something or offered something, and even if you conversate with someone in private, you should make sure you understand what you are getting into.

It is not always wrong to have private conversations because sometimes there might be opportunities and actually good things coming your way, but as I said, one should make sure that they understand what's happening, what they are being offered, and whether they should do what they are being asked to do. If you feel there is something off with the conversation because of where it's heading, you should stop immediately before it gets too late. Every person should have enough understanding to sense it when something isn't right.

Newbies even don't know about trust, trust feedback and they even don't click on profile for checking trust feedbacks. Careless people will not do checking even they are not newbies, and greedy people will be scammed by lack of greediness control.

It's true and it's very basic principle for avoiding scammers.

They want to scam the other people and to do this, they have to send PMs with information and offer of something "too good to be true". It's enough alarm to realized possible scammers as "too good to be true" offers are very clear if you keep your mind calm enough. When you see any offer like this, it's time for stopping the communication in emails or chats with such strangers.

Greedy people do something different, they continue their chats with scammers and it's hilariously that a longer time they are chatting with scammers, a more greedy they become so that they will come more nearly to be scammed.
