This would not be a surprise. I dont even think it's that deep. For most of the time Bitcoin has existed, it has outperformed gold, so it's no shocking event if Bitcoin outperforms gold in two years' time. Not to mention that two years from now will be 2028, and that is a halving year. What I find funny is how people talk about this subject of gold outperforming bitcoin like it's something that happens all the time. I believe this is the first time in about 15 years that gold has performed this much against Bitcoin.
It is not because Gold performs better than Bitcoin (because it does not) that makes it a better store of value. It is because Gold has more backing. If every system fails and collapses, you can be sure that the value of gold will still come back up. It would always be valuable because it's a precious metal. It is the backing of economies, governments and big corporations, unlike Bitcoin. But when it comes to performance, Bitcoin clears.
