Why do many people tell stories of short-term gains?

Because that's what other people want to hear. They find it more interesting and exciting hearing short-term gains success, despite of the tough process of what it had  been through. The important thing is, it ended with success.

I agree. They only want to hear the success of other traders but it doesn't matter if it's from short term gains or not.
As long they will hear your story that has made you successful, that's all what they will listen and take time for you.
But if you tell them the hardship you've been through, you're not going to see them very interested on what you want them to listen.

And I think the same thing happens with Bitcoin. Because many people only hear stories of short term trading profits and expect quick profits. The idea of ​​​​this profit sometimes seems so attractive that people forget about the long term perspective of investing. But in reality, according to many investors, the real power of Bitcoin lies in its long-term potential.

I think the basic reason why people tend to talk more about short term gains is because naturally those stories sound more exciting and attractive to hear and can also be motivating enough. When someone makes quick profit, they like to share it and others enjoy hearing about fast success!! No one is interested in the mental struggle just the positive emotional outburst. Ordinarily people rarely talk about the losses or the times when short term trading failed them number of times and because of that it creates the impression that quick profits are easy.

Quick profits are attractive, the stories of turning x amount into 100x over the night is more tempting for anyone who is desperate to make money rather than I invested x and waited 10 years to make it 1000x and honestly you can't change them and having such people is going to benefit the remaining ones who got delayed gratification.

This is also what I think is the reason why many influencers or people that are into trading are just showing short-term gains.

Short-term gains are attractive towards other traders, and since it's attractive, they'll think "Hey, I want to follow this trader because he's showing gains, and he's doing it in a short amount of time. I want to do the same as well." Because of this, these influencers will lure them and let them either pay something just for them to be followed, or whatever way it is for them to make more money from other people. One more is that, most of the people right now don't want to wait for a long time just to make money. Their patience is too small that they all want to happen at a short amount of time, and that includes these gains. If you're a trader, would you follow somebody that's earning x10 of their initial capital in just a week, or would you follow somebody that's doubling their money in 3 months? Of course, you'll do the first one because... you're impatient.

I've seen these types of people online already. Traders that are showing short-term gains, traders that are showing huge percent gains to their followers - sometimes even 4-digit percentages. I admit there are times where I find it attractive, but I always say to myself, "If they can do it, then I can also do it as well." and that's what I'm doing and I don't get attracted by these gains, or I don't pay these influencers just to gain access on whatever they want to sell. I want to do it all by myself even it takes a longer amount of time.

Sad but this is reality, if you want to make look cool for other people, for sure you will say such things like this and also for other people who are listening to because esepcially if they find out you are into cryptocurrency, most people you are trading, then they will start asking such questions about trading, for my own experience, I am just being honest with them this and that how trading works, some of them don't want to believe to me, lol. Because for sure what they are most commonly to see in the internet are these short term stories, hypes for some random traders that trying to be called "influencers".

That is interesting for those who hear the short stories about making quick profit. That also makes people curious and want to try it by themselves but that will not as easy as they thinks because when they don't have skills or knowledge, they will not makes quick profit. People talking about their profits and not their losses so they will not tells to others about their losses. If they want to invest in Bitcoin, they should learn first then use as their long term investment.

So I think we should at least step back a little and look at the whole picture before making important decisions in our lives. Because sometimes the little things that we think are the biggest are actually the result of our very short sightedness. And when we change our perspective, we realize that the real big opportunity may have been right in front of us, but we just didn't see it.

I would say that in reality not all people see things the same way. Some people only care about what is close to them, because that is what is real and accessible to them, And about your example of a four story building. Maybe they can't see the twenty story building but it could also be that they have deliberately chosen the closest one because it is easier or more suitable for their current needs. The same is true with Bitcoin or trading, Some try to make quick profits while others hold on to them for the long term. Both are actually different mindsets, not everyone can or wants to think long term, In my opinion the most important thing is to be aware and understand why we are making a decision.
