In fact, what I always recommend to anyone who turns to gambling is the fundamental question: are you ready to lose and risk your money?
If the answer is yes then it is a good starting point.
But like any activity, the risk is present, in gambling it is greater.
But even in investing, trading, and anything else that brings profit or gain (where there is Money in between), risk is always present.
The nature of gambling is that, if everyone won easily no one would go to work.
Yes, everything in life entails a risk on our part, maybe we just don't know it, but there could be decisions that we did take the risk and it ends up well for us. But for gambling, it's a different risk as there are money and you don't have any mitigation or plan B.
Unless you are satisfied of your winnings or just playing safe with the money that you can afford to lose. But there are big gamblers, maybe it's their personality to go YOLO on certain games, all-in the bigger the risk for them, the bigger the reward.
