One of the main reasons why people fall on fake gambling sites is because regular sites require KYC. People want to play at slots or bet in football, ufc, basket, etc, without checks and without delays. They want it to be like going to a bar: you go in, insert your coins, play while drinking a beer, and then go out.
I understand that KYC has become a real nuisance. They started with exchanges, now gambling sites, and who knows what will happen in the future.
So someone who is not very experienced could easily go to a non-KYC site and be scammed. If they at least followed the guides on Bitcointalk, they would know which non-KYC sites to play on and which to avoid.

The report is one with much concern. The authorities of Philippine say the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating center (CICC) has received about 1,800 complaints all against online gambling sites starting from January to March of 2026, with many promoted on social media.

For legal operators that is regulated by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), the effect could be mixed. On one side, frauds destroy trust in online gambling totally, and that can discourage users who are new. While on other hands, more solid crackdowns may force players towards platforms that are licensed that follow rules and consumer security.

Sites that are illegal often attract users with fast-money promises and most times accept deposits of crypto as they are difficult to trace. Which is why regulators  continue warning users to avoid links from Facebook or promotions from TikTok.

First of all you have to differentiate illegal casinos from scammy casinos. To be illegal means the casino isn't regulated, but it doesn't mean they are scamming customers. An illegal casino may operate fairly and genuinely, like casinos used to work in crypto industry about a decade ago. They simply don't have a permission from regulators to operate.

At same time, there are regulated and legal casinos which may be scamming users... The regulation by itself doesn't prevent that from happening.

The most important aspects to pay attention to are the reviews another customers post about a determined casino, and the reputation it has built along the time.

I don't know of any in Philippines but I think most casinos use crypto to deposit and so even an illegal casino will also use crypto to make it look legit. The issue with illegal casino in Philippines is the government that is restricting the operation of casinos and shutting them down. So it is expected that those who have not been allowed to legitimately operate will go under to do it behind the government because they already know the system. The buttom line is whether they are scamming players and not giving them their winning. There is difference between illegal casino and scam casino. I believe they are illegal because the government policy have made it so.

When the is regulatory uncertainty there must definitely be act of illegalities in some sectors, just like gambling sites or cryptocurrency exchanges, I agree with you the government have to be up and doing instead of just warning citizens about the presence of illegal platforms blocking them is possible technically but lack of tools and control over their internet space becomes their limitations just like what we have in my country also we have been exposed to uncensored content that promote illegal platforms operating within our jurisdiction but yet the government have not taken them down.

There is big difference between scam casinos and casino that operates without license but the government since the outrightly ban included everything related to gambling in their jurisdiction to the list since their are ban.

Cryptocurrency casino's provides exits from government restrictions, deposits and withdrawals possible but one need to only choose the legit reputable one which we easily know about them just with few search.

Sorry to draw your attention, this post could be more appreciated at your local board since it is more of Ph people and they could talks more about it. There are post which should be posted in the gambling section that are entirely neutral from state and country where it wouldn't require only your jurisdiction to make contributions toward what you had already rendered to community.

Before I knew and came  to this forum, I have been gambling but only on legit gambling sites. I do not register on a gambling site because I saw them online, I registered because I browsed about the gambling sites and know what it online about the site. If there is little to no information or if the site is said to be scam, I just avoid it. But gambling sites that is talked good about are the ones that I was using. The GenZ and other people need to learn how to avoid scam.

It's all about advertising-it's everywhere and there's a lot of it. All social media platforms are full of banners promising a great time and the chance to make some good money. Many young people fall for this because they're short on money. Even on YouTube, there are so many streams of people spinning slots or betting on Forex, it seems like it's just what you need and it's easy.

When Im browsing about the update on gambling news in the Philippines saw this post last week by ABS CBN news reported that there are lots of complain on more than 1800 gambling sites in the beginnjng of 2026. Pagcor one of the Philippines Government issued a warning to all users to avoid clicking on social medias post on Facebook and Tiktok about illegal gambling sites.

In the Philippines some of the users are technically young or called Gen-Z becoming addicted to easy money betting site. How I wish they knee this forum so they would be safe from scammers posting sites and probably fake gambling sites which exploit the youngs on their modus.

There is probably nothing wrong with the majority of these gambling sites, it's just the Philippines happens to have banned them but don't have an effective way to enforce it apparently. That's the great thing about the internet really, you can create a website in one jurisdiction where gambling is legal and may be legal in many other jurisdictions but it's not on them to restrict players if they have no agreement with the Philippine government. This is a problem that the government is not tackling effectively, don't blame the gambling sites because they're not doing anything wrong. Frankly the ban was a kneejerk reaction to score some easy voter points but does not solve a single thing, just like alcohol prohibition in America - people want to do it and will find a way.

Are the illegal sites scamming users or just operating illegally? Really don't see much difference between this and casinos operating without a license. I don't really know how 1 affects the other but I am sure the legit casinos don't like the illegal poaching customers.

I think there is a little difference but it's still important though,there are some sites that do operates without license but that don't mean that they do scam people just that the real situation here is that if anything goes wrong that's means the players aren't really protected and that's why most people do prefer the licenced casinos because it has rules that guides it and they also have someone to holds the platform accountable if in any case some issues come up or shows. Your thoughts are correct since this issue happened in the Philippines. However the world is now a global village, and what happens in another country can benefit or learn from information from another place. From this post, we could learn about the impact of illegal gambling platforms on registered ones. The events in this country can be related to those in other locations.

For this unlicensed gambling site; when a player wins, do they pay or refuse to pay? I would want to know in what aspect do these scams exist. Is it for deposit? For withdrawal? Or payment declination? I think with these few information, it would be easier for one to identify fake platforms.

There is a local board for the  Philippines here, and it will be nice if they encourage others to join the Bitcointalk platform, as it would be of great help to them all around. At least they could be able to note scam casinos from here, and if they encounter such outside the platform, they would not fall victim because they already have the knowledge of them all.

As for the advert of scam casinos that pop up as ads via social media handles, they could follow the government instructions and also possibly disable adds on their accounts if it is possible so they do not get or see such advert anymore because the more they see it, the more they would want to attempt it and that would also lead them to getting scammed.

That goes for all places, in my opinion. In all businesses there are always legitimate businesses and scamming businesses. In fact, when they talk about Bitcoin being a scam, they actually forget that even in their world of stocks there are lots of scams. Each country has real rules and laws for every gambling site circulating in their country, including the Philippines.

Maybe we don't know for sure what the law is in the Philippines regarding illegal and legal gambling sites, I think the actions of the Philippine authorities are correct in blocking illegal sites. Apart from being a risk to society and also to state revenues/taxes, whatever decision the Philippine authorities make is correct and legal, they block illegal gambling sites.

Not only the Philippines, maybe my country will also treat the same thing, of course for a good cause, the Philippines really cares about the risks of gamblers.

Illegal gambling platforms would definitely have negative on the legal platforms because victims of those illegal platforms would be skeptical to trust other platforms even though it is genuine.
If newbies had encountered being scammed in some extend the entire gambling industry would definitely look like scam to them too while they lacks the knowledge to identify legit platforms.

The players sometimes doesn’t care about which casino platform is licensed, they only go after what is been advertised to them by their influencers, and most of these influencers uses welcome bonuses to deceive some uses while most of them can’t even claim the bonus on their own. And for some casinos, the influencers do show them demo accounts while users that are not experienced will think is real, and their zeal to make quick money will push them in, and when they win and failed to withdraw their money, that’s when they realized they are being scammed. So proper awareness is needed to prevent all these.

The influencers are to blame on this one, they don't do due diligence before they receive an offer from these likely scam casinos. And now, the government is also chasing these influencers and putting some cases on them for they've advertised it on their contents despite that they are illegally operating in our country and at the same time, they've scammed a lot of our countrymen.

Illegal doesn't mean it is scam, it can be just an unregulated site with no license or any legal documentation to run a casino but still do it anyway, however it is best for the user not to entertain them because we don't know they are operating fair especially their results. As government they can simply block those sites and as strict measure take legal actions on any individual who use those links in their post or profile.

Facebook and TikTok have now become a place where some posts may look completely normal at first but once you click on them, they redirect you to those gambling games. Many scammers create fake accounts just to share these kinds of posts and get people to click on them. Usually, illegal casino sites or scam platforms cannot be posted directly because Facebook or TikTok may restrict them, so instead they design the front banner of the post to look normal and attractive then attach the link inside it before posting.
So when people see it, it looks like a normal and good post but once they click on it, it takes them straight to those illegal gambling sites. Because of this, it is better not to click on random posts without being sure about them.

This kind of updates from government advising people not to click on gambling links on both Facebook and Tiktok is going to have serious effects on genuine gambling sites that are looking for a players that will test their platform creating traffic for them.

Filipinos are fighting against a bad economy, under this circumstance it is difficult to tell them to dissociate from gambling activities. It's like telling a hungry dog to avoid meat. What Ill would like to know is if the government is restraining them from gambling because the sites are operating illegally, or the government is in on eradicating gambling activity from the country.
