Please help with my stolen account

I'm not sure where to get help about this.

My original Bitcointalk account 'kr105' ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=12229 ) that I registered on 2011 was stolen sometime around 2017.

I realized about this some time ago and I tried to recover it using my email, of course it was changed.

Then I found this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0 where theymos explains that I should email recoveries...@bitcointalk.org with the request.

I did. But then someone replied back that I should provide crypto-proof that I'm the original owner, I did not have any of my old wallets by then so I had to give up.

A couple of weeks ago I found an old laptop and surprise! My old wallet was there (sadly, 0 BTC on it). I was able to provide the crypto proof, I sent a message similar to this to that email address:

Are there any other admins here that can help me? Any help or guidance would be highly appreciated!

It is not matter whether your Bitcoin address staked in the forum now has bitcoin or not. The matter is whether you still have access to that address, and can sign a message with a private key of that address.

I was able to provide the crypto proof, I sent a message similar to this to that email address:

I'd say email the recovery address again. Your signed message should be enough to recover your account.

After recovering, you should delete the posts you didn't make so it's all you again. There's a negative DT-tag from Veleor, who hasn't been online in years. I only now see his last posts were about the invasion of Ukraine, and then he didn't come back online....
Best I can do for you is add neutral feedback once you've recovered your account and sign a message confirming it.

How long ago did you send them (the account recoveries team) the email?
You should ideally wait for a week for a response from them if it was just a couple of days back. If all the information checks out, I am pretty confident you will be able to recover your account.

Theymos is not in charge of recovering accounts, so it is very likely that you will not receive any response from him. It's the other admin, Cyrus, and the team, but only PM them or bump this thread when one week has elapsed.

How long ago did you send them (the account recoveries team) the email?

The email with the crypto proof was sent on February 19th, 2026. Then I pinged them on the same email thread on February 23rd, and then on March 11th.

As for now, not yet. He said that the email address was changed by the hacker, and when he tried to recover the account sometime back, they needed a message signed from an old BTC address of his. He shared the details, but the team has not yet responded to him in recent times to have his account recovered.

i quoted five posts that show the language shift.

he is likely legit.

if he does get control and deletes the many posts from 2017 on i will give a neutral and refer to here.

i think he is legit

as suspected the posts quotes i did are being deleted by the forign language mod.

likely the fake owner of k105 reported to the mod.

I don't think so we are moving slowly and sometimes the price is dropping, we're like in a limbo
$20k is out of the question this year I don't want to say it's impossible but the pieces are not adding up for us to think that there's a possibility
Let's just be happy that we out of the $5k level danger level, maybe next year holds a lot of promise, or still danger, all I know is we are still in the adoption period.

I totally agree that we’re still in the adoption period. Many people still has no idea about BTC or many of them have some doubts and hesitations about the future of crpto. We still need time people to understand all the benefits and quality of Btc. On the other hand, i don’t think Btc to hit $ 20k in the coming months. It seems like the market needs some balance first. I’m hoping to see better things in the next 2 years tho..

First of all, the account itself was last emptied in 2019, it has been 7 years and now you have remembered that you need to take action on it. I doubt it and the way his changing language suggests that this is a fraud and he is also talking about a loan of 45 bitcoins, if he had given the loan, he would have had negative trust by now and if he had given the loan, he should have remembered by now and it has been 7 years. My opinion is that it is better not to listen to him than to waste the time of your competent people by raising such questions.

Did you read that he made efforts in the past to recover the account but couldn't because he had no access to his old wallets.

Are you aware that he has found a wallet of about 14 years old and signed a message with it which was verified?

Do you realise that the value of 45 BTC 14 years ago was not much and it's something he could repay?

If this is how you will handle cases when you are in any leadership position, then I pity the people that will be under your leadership. This is a straight forward case that OP brought up, he even went ahead to explain what limited him from completing the recovery process at his first attempt. The fact that he's doing this again after finding his old wallet show how sincere he is. Imagine if the 45 BTC was in that his wallet he found, he could have kept quiet and move on or possibly open another account. But he didn't do that he came back and did what he was asked to the with the wallet. That should convince you that OP is legitimate and he should be listened to, and not be ignored as you are suggesting.
