I have often wondered where such a passion for violence and weapons comes from, did it all start with the massacres of Indians or did it come later?
I think, be winner in WW-II make US and elite global realize that war can be profitable. Matter of fact US become super power, military industry growing fast, there are shifting on weapon passion from survival tools to be nation / geopolitical power. I think its a strating point what President Dwight Eishen Hower explained, military industrial complex. the Cold War era which full of tension and rivalry throuh nuclear, arm race adn spreading propaganda and fear actually strenghtened military normalization, and media also play important role shaped a perception that country with has powerfull weapon is superhero.
From what ilearned beside technology what make US superior is large scale of weapons production. As explained by Eishenhower closed relationship between military, industry and government can drive conflict because simply said demand on weapon increase when war happened, when threats spread such as on cold war area, military can increase its budged and has a priority and security issue can be legitimation tools for policy maker. Its mean combination of these can encourage confontrated policy. For US itself war is a tools to show and maintain their global hegemony, which will openend access to resources US needs and deterrence as strategy to maintain its position on International system.
