Score = (tiles revealed x 1000) - min(elapsed seconds, 999)

A full-clear bonus of +200 points is added on top for successfully clearing the entire board. Tile count always dominates the score — one additional tile revealed is worth more than any realistic time difference — while speed acts as the deciding tiebreaker between players who reveal the same number of tiles, particularly among full clears.

Example: two players both fully clear the board. One finishes in 45 seconds, the other in 90 seconds. Both score well above 71,000 points, but the faster player edges out the win by roughly 45 points, purely from the time differential.

Dork Minesweeper is fully server-authoritative from the ground up. The mine layout for each game is generated using cryptographically secure random number generation and is held entirely in server memory — it is never transmitted to the client in advance. Players only ever learn what lies beneath a tile at the exact moment they reveal it, meaning there is no way to inspect the page, network traffic, or browser developer tools to see hidden mine locations ahead of time.

Every tile reveal request is independently validated server-side, including session ownership checks and bounds checking, and the final score is calculated entirely from server-tracked data — the number of tiles revealed and the true elapsed time of the session — rather than anything reported by the client.

We diagnosed and fully resolved a subtle timing-synchronization bug in Multi-Flip that was causing displayed scores to disagree with recorded scores — tracked down to its true root cause and fixed at the source, not just patched around.
