Have you ever wondered why King Solomon asked God for wisdom instead of wealth?

King Solomon knew that wisdom will bring him wealth and people will come to seek for wisdom and the people seeking for wisdom are rich people and the rich people will bring him gold, silver and respect without him breaking a sweat. No wonder people say wisdom is not something you purchase with money but can purchase knowledge with money. So my question is wisdom and knowledge which one is profitable to man

Solomon had enough wisdom already, to recognize:
1. His job of running a nation needs more than wealth;
2. Wisdom along with running a nation is part of producing wealth;
3. His nature was such that he recognized that God is made up of wisdom, and he wanted to be more godly... even though he lost it in mid-life, but regained it in old age.
