Wisdom and knowledge work in hand to hand, but  if I must choose one, I will go for wisdom. Knowledge is to know something, but wisdom is to know how and when to use what you know. A person can have knowledge and still make foolish decisions. But someone who has wisdom can use his or her little knowledge to create value, attract opportunities, and solve problems. Knowledge can help you make money, but wisdom can help keep the money, grow it and live a better life. That is why I believe knowledge is power but  wisdom is the application of that power. If you have both, then you have the greatest treasure any human can processes.

King Solomon knew that wisdom will bring him wealth and people will come to seek for wisdom and the people seeking for wisdom are rich people and the rich people will bring him gold, silver and respect without him breaking a sweat. No wonder people say wisdom is not something you purchase with money but can purchase knowledge with money. So my question is wisdom and knowledge which one is profitable to man
Knowledge and wisdom have their own applications, knowledge give us information about something and wisdom give us the idea that how we can use it. Knowledge is information that can be learnt over the period of time where as wisdom is something that is developed through experience, reflection and judgement. Wisdom gave us the thought to ask questions where as knowledge give us the answers to those question.

Knowledge give us the opportunity we can create them where as wisdom help us to sustain those opportunities, otherwise they can be lost. Knowledge give us power where as the wisdom guide us in the right direction. King went for wisdom and he choose it because wisdom leads to other blessings, while having wisdom he could solve problems he could create prosperity, but I think the best combination is both knowledge and wisdom because knowledge give us the tools while wisdom teaches that how we are going to use those.

I love the subject you raised for discussion. The Bible which is believed to be the book of wisdom and inspired by God the creator of the universe said that , " Wisdom is the principal thing, and in all your getting, get understanding". This sums up the answer to your question. It makes us understand that both Wisdom and knowledge is profitable to man. If you have wisdom,  you will know that you need knowledge as well. To understand that you need knowledge itself is wisdom. So we need both

King Solomon asked for wisdom because it is more profitable. Let me ask a simple question, "can wealth lead people"? The answer is No.
Wisdom is most valuable thing one need to rule or lead people. Imagine having lot of wealth without having the wisdom to lead.
With wisdom king Solomon can still acquire wealth. And Even lead his people effectively
Even the bible says that wisdom is more profitable than silver and yield better returns than gold.

In the other hands wisdom is more profitable to man than knowledge, for example you may have the knowledge  to invest money and grow wealth but without wisdom you will not be able to know how much to invest, the right time to invest, when and how to avoid unnecessary risk. Both are important and profitable in their own ways.

Wisdom off-course, but note that you can’t have wisdom without having knowledge. Knowledge is having information and understanding facts, while wisdom is the ability to make wise decisions. So one will use the knowledge they’ve gotten in order to make wise decision, so both work hand in hand.

King Solomon asked for wisdom, so he could be able to make wise decision, give good advice and also make good judgment to his people, which at the end will earn him lot of riches, wealth, blessings and so many good things he can be appreciated with. So only knowledge is not enough
