In my opinion, there are many factors that contribute to a person's economic downturn, including those you mentioned. If all of those factors were not present, perhaps society would prosper because if there were plenty of jobs, unemployment would automatically disappear, and the economy would certainly progress. Generally the root cause of economic problems is inflation, which is basically cause by the government. If I am to choose I would go with scarcity. I think one of the main reasons why we have lots of economic problems is due to limited resources when we humans have unlimited wants. Look at the issue in which Crude oil and Gold has caused humanity, it has caused war, inflation currently we are feeling the result of blockade of strait of Harmouz. Of course, unemployment is a major cause. However, I believe it is not everything about the job. Most of the time, though there is opportunity, people do not know how to utilize it, or do not have the bravery to begin. I believe mindset plays a major role in this. There are those, who attempt a bit and begin with something modest, and there are those who are unable to commence anything at all, due to fear or uncertainty, I believe that under the condition of knowledge and boldness, one can gradually turn the situation around.

It has always been the irresponsibility of the country's leaders. Because when these people are not capable and committed to their government roles and obligations, that's where greed and corruption start, that would lead to different negative consequences caused by mismanagement of the people, of the funds, and of the government itself.

I believe corruption is the root cause of many economic problems from what I’ve seen countries with less corruption tend to have fewer economic issues. However, if I had to choose from the four options available, I would choose unemployment. Why?

Indeed, wants don't end. One meets and one comes, it is this unceasing movement. The thing that I find disturbing about it is that most of the people do not even bother to ask whether the want is theirs. Did you really desire a larger house or did you desire it because your cousin had one and something in your chest was tightening? It is one thing to have desire which is of some inner origin and another to have desire which is simply a response to the life of another. And nearly all our economy is run on the second type.

The greed-in-leadership, I agree but I also think we are letting ourselves off too easy by pointing upwards. Yes, leaders are power hoarders. Yes, it's destructive. But there is a form of the same pattern that runs in ordinary life as well. Those who hold onto jobs that they are not doing well at, those who cannot give up control of their family because giving up is like death.

It is partly true that resources are scarce. Partly a story we been told so many times we stopped questioning it. The world food waste alone would be sufficient to nourish whole populations. When the question of there being not enough arises, it suggests a more subdued question; enough to survive, or enough to waste? For need? There's plenty. For the level of consumption we've normalized? Then no, the planet itself isn't enough.

The difficult thing about all this is that no one is entirely innocent in it either. It is not a villain class that is doing this to the rest of us. It's a collective thing. This cycle in which we are all involved in keeping the very system we are complaining about. And we know it, and we go on anyway.

Inflation is not the root cause of a bad economy, it's just the consequences of bad economic policies making by the government over years. Yes I agree bad leader make the world more worse but without any attention in tolerating corruption, collusion, and nepotism but in these modern world, we know that politics is high cost arena, system creates pressure on politicians to commit fraud. Yes, the top of the government in many countries around the world looks like a bunch of criminals who have gotten into warm places and are now trying to stay there. At the same time, they don't care about people below their status, because they can ignore their outraged voices. They don't care about the problems of the poor, because these people can't do anything to them, even if they are completely dissatisfied with their lives. They are ignored. After all, those in power can easily change the lives of ordinary people in just a few days, if they gather smart people around the table and simply think about it, and then take appropriate action. Scarcity of what? Some resources are scarce by default and no government can artificially boost their mining and production.
Aren't unemployment and underemployment basically the same thing? The economy can't create enough jobs and the people, who are unemployed don't have the skills, that are in demand on the job market.
The root cause of all economic problem are incompetent and corrupt governments. Inflation is created by bad fiscal and monetary policies.
