Introduction

DigiByte-II (DGB2) is a decentralized, open-source Proof-of-Work blockchain focused on simplicity, security, and long-term stability.

Built as an independent fork of DigiByte, DGB2 removes unnecessary complexity and delivers a clean, predictable, and transparent network design while preserving the core principles of decentralization and permissionless participation.

Core Philosophy:
Do not trust. Verify. Simplify.

---

What Makes DigiByte-II Different?

DGB2 is not just another fork — it is a deliberate redesign.

• Single Algorithm (SHA-256) instead of MultiAlgo
• 60-second block time for stability and efficiency
• New Genesis Block (no shared history)
• New Address Format (DGB21)
• Independent identity and branding

This creates a completely separate and self-contained blockchain.

---

Key Specifications

Name: DigiByte-II
Ticker: DGB2
Consensus: Proof-of-Work (PoW)
Algorithm: SHA-256
Block Time: 60 seconds
Supply Cap: 21,000,000,000 DGB2
Model: UTXO
Address Prefix: DGB21

---

Why SHA-256?

DGB2 uses the most battle-tested mining algorithm in existence.

Advantages:
• Compatible with existing Bitcoin ASIC infrastructure
• Massive global hash power availability
• Proven long-term security
• Simplified consensus design

Instead of splitting hash across multiple algorithms, DGB2 concentrates security into one.

---

Network Design

Stability First

The 60-second block time is designed to balance:
• Fast confirmations
• Low orphan rates
• Efficient propagation
• Reduced network strain

Result: A reliable and predictable blockchain.

---

Decentralization

DigiByte-II is fully permissionless:

• Anyone can mine
• Anyone can run a node
• Anyone can transact
• Anyone can build

No central authority. No gatekeepers. No trusted parties.

---

Security Model

DGB2 inherits the strength of Proof-of-Work:

• SHA-256 ASIC-backed hashing
• Immutable blockchain structure
• Economically expensive attacks
• Fully verifiable ledger

Security scales with hash power — simple and effective.

---

Mining & Distribution

Fair Launch Principles:

• No premine
• No founder rewards
• No hidden allocations
• No mandatory dev fees

Coins are distributed **only through mining**.

---

Block Rewards (Overview)

• Early high emission for distribution
• Gradual reductions over time
• Long-term emission tail with decay
• Hard cap at 21 billion DGB2

Designed for sustainability and fair participation.

---

Node Infrastructure

Running a node provides:

• Full transaction validation
• Financial sovereignty
• Network support and decentralization

Anyone can participate in securing the network.

---

Network Ports

Mainnet:
P2P: 22024
RPC: 24022
Tor: 24122

(Testnet, Signet, Regtest also supported)

---

Use Case

DGB2 is optimized for:

• Fast, low-overhead payments
• Secure value transfer
• Transparent verification

Future potential includes:
• Layer-2 integrations
• Smart transaction extensions
• Tokenization layers

---

Vision

DigiByte-II focuses on what matters:

Simplicity – One algorithm, clear design
Stability – 1-minute blocks
Security – Proven PoW model
Independence – New chain, new identity

Not everything needs to be complex to be powerful.

---

Development Roadmap (Early Direction)

• Improved difficulty adjustment
• Lightweight wallet ecosystem
• Privacy enhancements
• Layer-2 support exploration

All development remains aligned with core principles:
Simple. Transparent. Secure.

---

Disclaimer

This project is experimental and community-driven.
Cryptocurrency involves risk — always do your own research.

---

Final Words

DigiByte-II is a return to fundamentals.

No gimmicks.
No unnecessary complexity.
Just a clean, secure, and fair Proof-of-Work blockchain.

Welcome to The Second Byte.

---

More details, binaries, and pools coming soon.

Don't use SHA-256 unless you plan to do merged mining. Come up with a unique mining algo that fits your particular needs based on the project.

Dgb is multi algo coin and launching it as sha256 only is stupid move
Call your fork "another shitcoin"

It would be awesome to see all the algos. But if it's only sha256 then so be it. This part2 season is good fun

That's completely not true but many do of course. There are indeed some altruistic people in this world.

Altcoins are not "startups" or "investments". They are scams devised to steal bitcoin. From instamined thrash to meme tokens 99% were created for this purpose. The others that have not become "dead" will eventually die off.

Okay then it is 99% true just to be within the confines of legal clarity. Yes there are altruistic peoiple in this world but certainly not within the "crypto cummunity". Show me a case where a bitcoin whale has donated the vast bulk of their wealth to charity or where an altcoin founder has done so after making bank and run off with the proceeds of their altcoin project. ALL altcoins are dead projects or will die eventually with NO exception.
