Don't hold me responsible for your shortcomings.

I can talk about myself, yes; my child plays Roblox, and yes, sometimes it really pisses me off, because he's not interested in anything else, and I forbid him to use all the gadgets that are in the house. In addition, he has a habit of scrolling YouTube, which also annoys me terribly, and I again ban YouTube and Roblox at the router level or just take away the phone.
It is much harder now because you are already at that stage, basically if you translate that to other topics you are trying to treat an addict versus preventing somebody from becoming an addict. Preventing is, depending on the situation, significantly easier it could be easier by a factor of 100 or 1000 than it is to treat somebody. See, I would like to applaud your efforts because I can guarantee you that most parents will give up before even trying to do that and even if they do it and their child bypasses it they would throw their hands up in the air and say that they have been defeated and there is nothing to do. Being able to reset a router, bypass some basic restriction and similar does not make a child a genius or tech savvy, he just has an ability to follow a tutorial online -- that is all, nothing else and nothing more. As I said in the previous post, you have an duty as a good parent to increase your level and adapt with the child.

But he goes outside, he goes to school, and his friends play there; they discuss together. In a word, this is a widespread infection. As a parent, I spend time with my children, explain, and try to control them so that they trust me, and my son doesn't turn into someone who just lies to reassure his parents. However, I cannot completely ban his fascination with this game, as children at this age look at their peers, and in order to keep up, they strive to be on the same wavelength in their interests. Yes, sports and other hobbies are good, but if there is a company that does not seem bad, it is difficult to get a child out of it without turning him into a "mama's boy" who will later be laughed at.
Yeah, a lot of the challenge stems from "them" which means the majority of other parents. They are just terrible parents, and you do not exactly have a choice in the groups of children that your child is going to interact with. Sure, you have plenty of choices in some cases like the school that he will attend or place where you will live but ultimately in the details you get what you get. Optimally it would work out if you child ends up going to school or living in areas where there are many similarly minded people but that would be like winning the lottery when it comes to this. Referring back to my paragraph above, the most common case what I see now is children also in public mindlessly scrolling the phone at very young ages sometimes even as young as 4-5 would be my estimate -- and then people throw a surprised reaction when the child is addicted to everything 10 years down the road. How couldn't he?

Ultimately, everything is allowed, including Roblox and other games, but in moderation.🤗
Perhaps it would be wiser to nuance it to "almost everything", because there are things that should not be allowed under any condition.  Tongue

Lol, a copy-paste of my kid. He also plays roblox, watches youtube and I think yours also try to make scandal if his gadgets are taken away. I have also tried forbidding things, but later turned all that into such rule - if homework is done, if results at school and sports are good (I dont ask for A+ in every class), if he has helped mother or mother does not require any help - I allow to freely use gadgets. It has lead to him getting bored from gadgets after +1h or usage, instead of limiting it to "you can only play for 1h" (because he asks to prolong limit). As to gambling games in roblox - he is not interesting in such games. He plays what are trendy, some running competitions, hide and seek, quests and etc. These games have element of spin wheel for roblox money and get random boost, but he is not interested in using them or buying roblox money for fiat, because he is saving for new bike, skates, sports equipment and he has a list of things he wants to buy-get.
Do you have a schedule of chores or a calendar for your kid? If not, you should. People who are lazy and delusional and undisciplined themselves tend to run away from these decisions parroting bullshit about kids needing to be free and other dumb shit, but they work really well. It gives a structure and teaches them time management skills gradually over their life. Gadgets and games like Roblox should never be available to indulge in at any time, they should always and only be a reward for completing all the work that must be done. As soon as you have unrestricted instant gratification it turns them into spoiled and brainless monsters, I mean Gen Z has a terrible reputation in the work place and the generation after that is looking like it will even be worse.
