Hello everyone ,

I would like to introduce our little contribution to the cryptoeconomy: photos4bitcoins.com. This is a website where you can get photos from anywhere in the world for cryptocurrencies. If you need a picture for a website, a photo of an event... or for any other reason, you just have to offer some coins and maybe a bitcoiner (or 'altcoiner') will take the photo for you. Of course, you can also get some cryptos by submitting photos to requests from other users.

If one of your submitted photos is chosen by another user you will be required to send a coin address to receive the reward. photos4bitcoins.com never takes charge of the users coins. Transactions are made directly between users and the role of the website is limited to the custody of digital photographs.

The site is quite simple and uses a geographic interface to simplify the location of the requests. For now, only basic functionality has been implemented, but we will be adding more functionality based mainly on user's feedback.

Suggestions and feedback will be greatly appreciated. We hope you find it useful!

PS : You'll notice that the site does not use digital certificate (we hate to pay for a simple pair of keys). As the site does not require a high level of privacy, we do not consider it as essential. However, the most sensitive data (email, password and coin addresses) are sent encrypted to the server using javascript-based 1024 bit RSA encryption.

update 09-March-2014:
  - implementation of server-client encryption for payment address download.
  - QR-code visualization of payment addresses.

update 24-march-20214:
  - added comment box and report button

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

As much as the service sounds really good,
the name doesn't.

It just looks more like a money milker than a "service"

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

Thanks for your report. We registered both bitcoins4photos.com and photos4bitcoins.com and the confirmation e-mails are sent using the first domain, my fault Roll Eyes. Just paste the confirmation URL in your browser and change bitcoins4photos.com for photos4bitcoins.com.

sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for your comment. It wasn't our preferred name, but we chose it because it includes the keywords 'photo' and 'bitcoin' in the domain name and we didn't want something like: thisismyveryexplicativedomainname.com  Grin

Thanks. Sorry for my ignorance, but what's this 'graphic' project from google? Did google put a smart camera on every corner of the planet and I didn't heard about it?  Tongue

Our data encryption scheme was weak against a man-in-the-middle attack. We have solved this issue.

We have updated the application so that users can now offer their services as photographers. In the 'photographer' section of the user page, users can add different locations where they can take photos by clicking the location on the map and specifying the distance they can cover around this location. Other relevant information can be specified such as: photographer experience, available hardware, rates, coins accepted....

You really take the pictures yourself or you just find them from around the internet?

The idea is that you can request pictures from any place/event around the world or you can offer yourself to take pictures from your area. Internet pictures (if not copyrighted) have generally poor quality and do not usually fulfill what you want/need from a picture.
