A new era of space exploration has begun!   An entire generation of children will be dressing as astronauts for Halloween and it will be a good time to be a telescope store.   Grin

Last launch -->  December 7, 1972.

I was just a couple years old but I watched with my parents.  (Hopefully I'll remember this one.)   NASA has spent the last 50 years improving the infrastructure (including public feeds) and it should be an incredible watch in 10 mins!

Edit:   All stations go.   Good luck to all astronauts!

It was definitely an incredible +10 minutes.
I respect the amount of physics work and calculations that were put together to make the launch a successful one.
In a situation where almost perfection is required, you just have to give credit to the brilliant minds behind it. I'm not exactly sure how long the lunar orbit is going to take because the description of the Livestream said "10 days", while the commentator said "6 days, if everything goes as planned", and from what I have seen so far, they've been perfect.

Well, good luck to to crew members, and also to those that who are willing to push the limits of mankind.

Moon launches are all politics... a waste of public money. If anybody ws serious about going anywhere in space, they would have done it long ago with, "To the stars by atom bomb: The incredible tale of the top secret Orion Project." Even Musk is just playing around, smart as he is. Of course, we don't really know that Musk doesn't secretly have this on his list of future projects.

If Youtube hasn't deleted them, you can find videos of the successful launches of non-nuclear prototypes that were done in California.

Cool

EDIT: There are a lot of conspiracy theories that say that mankind has bases on both, the moon and Mars. And there is a lot of evidence that this is true.

Iran is not interested in making nuclear bombs, or in making war with the US or Israel. Sure they are fighting because the US and Israel gave them no choice.

The thing that the US is really trying to stop is Iran using the technology at the above website to go to the stars. Keep it all under wraps, and keep people in relative bondage on planet Earth. That's the theme of those running the government.

Now this is why the forum is spectacular. Unfortunately, I missed the launch life, but I took the time to watch what is going from the link you sent.

1972 is a long year back. If it was in 1990, I won't be in existence to know about the launch. Happy that in my time of youth I saw the last launch on April 1.

No, but I'm sort of bummed out that they aren't going to land and it's going to be only a flyaround. Still incredible, as we haven't gone anywhere near the moon since '72.

Conspiracy theorists are eating good these days. They are frothing at the mouth of the idea that the launch was on April 1st.

SEE! IT'S FAKE AND THE GLOBAL CABAL MAKES FUN OF YOU BY "LAUNCHING" ON APRIL FOOLS. YEAH, WELL I'M NO FOOL, HAHA. I KNOW WE'VE NEVER BEEN TO SPACE AND HOLLYWOOD PRODUCED THE MOON LANDING. WE CAN'T BREACH THE DOME THAT'S PLANTED ONTO THE FLAT EARTH!  Grin Grin Grin

Good luck to all astronauts!

Too late. There's apparently a toilet issue going on. Hopefully it doesn't distract from collecting some good scientific data during the trip.

Seriously, I was disappointed with the NASA feed.  I liked the SpaceX one more with all the extra data.

Conspiracy theorists are eating good these days. They are frothing at the mouth of the idea that the launch was on April 1st.
The conspiracy doesn't even make sense, the Apollo mission employed over 400000 people at its peak, and you're telling me NOT A SINGLE ONE blew the whistle and tried to expose the "fraud"? I don't buy it.

I don't know where these conspiracy theorists derive their pleasure from, trying to undermine human achievements and acting like we don't have the capabilities to reach the Moon. If we wanted to, we could colonize a large part of the solar system but because that isn't profitable compared to starting forever wars, no government want to invest hundreds of billions doing so.

That's the entire point of my thread - out of sight - out of mind!   Weak minds that did not actually experience something may reject the idea.  I can guarantee the Chinese population does not have these theories - or else.   Grin

No one can own part of the moon, but you can use it if you are there.  That's why everyone wants to be the first - to occupy and use the best crater with the best frozen ice.   There is enough land for all the major powers to have settlements, but they will also have their arms and policies in a tight space.

But I don't think we'll even make it that far.  NASA is bloated and Elon is not a physicist.  He thinks putting data centers in space is a good idea?  Society will not put up with constellations as big as the moon in our sky just to cool a few servers.

Am I the only one that was alive in 1972?   Undecided
