Social media monetization is really good and helpful, without monetization how can social influencers earn? I understand op point but, owning a social platform with large audience and failing to monetize simply deprive anyone from earning. Social media is now developed to an extend, many make end meets through the help of social platform most especially live stream, I really don’t understand why anyone will accept such offer because of money. Honestly I find some content disturbing to an extend making fun of people either through the means of prank etc, all because of money so shameful.

No one sits and decides to lose empathy. It is worn away, bit by bit, by systems that render caring economically illogical. Consider what the monetization model does. It pays per attention. And what captures attention fastest? You already know. Conflict, shock, suffering, the bizarre. You create an economy in which human suffering is literally a source of revenue and then wonder why people are creating painful content?

I believe there is one more thing that people pass by. The social media money pipeline in developing countries tends to be parallel to the totally failed local economies. The official labor market does not provide you with anything. Conventional ways do not yield anything. And then all of a sudden you have this phone in your hand that tells you that, in case you do something extreme enough, strangers will send you money. What do you think happens next?

The empathy and fear and self-preservation aren't disappearing because humans fundamentally changed somehow. They are being trampled by economic forces that the majority of the population in the rich nations cannot even imagine. Despair has its logic and it does not respect your moral system. And the audience side of this we must talk more about. There is supply because there is demand.

Where does it go from here? I have no neat conclusion. Social media will not regulate itself since cruelty is a lucrative business. In developing countries, governments usually do not have the infrastructure to implement anything substantial. And personal morality is a good concept but it cracks easily under the economic strain.

Social media algorithms have a way of instantly sharing irrelevant videos to your feed. Last week, I had to block about 50 followers for resharing terrible footage of an incident that happened. 

I agree, there is no sign of stopping because similar social apps keep coming out every single month. People are ready to commit murder on live if it is not restricted in their region. This is literally scenes we watch in horror movies happening live, and the world can't do anything to stop it.

OP, do me a favor, I want to know what punishment was given to the live streamer after she was reported. Did her account get banned from live? Tell me, because she is supposed to be in jail after that incident.

TikTok suspended her account for a long time and denied her access to create a new one. 
Another day, I heard that people in her neighborhood who watched her live stream called the cops on her. 
That's all I know.

Nowadays everything is done no matter whether it harms others or not on social media, the most important thing is how they make their accounts viral and get a lot of engagements that make them earn income.
This is just one of the many examples of cases that are quite odd just because they want to make their branding go up. Social media is now filled with a lot of people who act silly just for the sake of 1 or 2 cents but do not think about their safety.

Last year I read about a US tourist who tried a foolish act of chasing popularity with the branding of “sensation seekers” who tried to enter the sentinel island which we know is famous for its residents who are closed to the outside world.

This is obviously ridiculous because when it comes down to it, not only does it hurt himself, but in the end many parties involved because in addition to him endangering himself, it also makes diplomatic and security issues disrupted because he is a US tourist trying to illegally enter an island that is clearly protected by India.

There's indeed no sign of stopping or slowing down from these social media platforms because people are obviously earning and making themselves happy from getting a few likes just because they made a post or have a fanbase on social media that's more than what they have in real life.

We have not even talked about how marketing or advertising agents on social media allow anything to be advertised because they get paid, we have not talk about the hike in rate at which young girls get naked in social media just to get likes and few bucks, it's just getting crazier everyday and AI integration is there to make things even more crazier with fake videos and memes flooding the algorithms.

Regardless of what people post that the public find engaging, it will be wrong to call it o lazy things. I have stop going to Facebook because of some contents that I do see around, they too unrealistic for my liking, they are not relatable but there are people that loves this kind of content. Check the profiles and you will see millions of followers, thousands of comments and views, people like them but I don't like them, the creators put work to display those things, I'm not sure if a lazy person will do this.

I will support you use inferior content that get paid. I have seen many monetized platforms lose valaues because of the kind of contents they allow. Even X too, I used to like that platform for anything, when verify and badges were not common but now everyone is looking for ways to get impressions and like from verified accounts so they get paid their bi-weekly through their monetize account. YouTube is losing its value with AI contents, I dislike those contents with my life.

To be honest, this social media monetisation has become a serious issue in my country. My country is a developing country as well, people doing whatever they want on social media. They never care about what is happening around; they are just creating content on social media. A lot of stupid people are also following this nonsense on social media, from where content creators earn money.

the monetization of social media is very necessary for thoes who really wants to make some money, because without monetization the one can never earn from social media. now a days people only have one purpose which is that how to make money and this is a very sentive issue and the concerns regarding this should be clear. All technology made by man has been abused. Web2, Web3, AI, Bitcoin, and so many others have been abused by people who are not responsible. You can't blame the creator, nor those who are using it for good, because in life, there will always be good and bad people in all things.

The act that she did there was brutal. So if I will give her a punishment, I can start by banning his social media account, and then I will fine him huge amounts. But it can also escalate to putting her in jail. That way, none streamer will copy such a cruel move anymore.

It has become a norms and in reality, the developing countries are the ones taken advantage of this more to earn a living but forget that your self dignity comes first more than any other thing you can think off. People are mostly attracted to unimaginable things, so these content creators have a way that they make their followers wants to engage on their post, some go as far as telling lies, bring about fake news or happenings just to get people’s attention to react and engage. If the streamer was not aware of her disability, then she at least knew about her own disability, so why did she jump for just 40 bucks? That just does not make any sense. Was she so sure that someone would save her, or that the streamer would save her?

She could have died for just 40 bucks. I cannot judge the streamer, bro, on the grounds of sympathy, empathy, fear, etc. Because the streamer was not wrong if she was unaware. But these streamers actually do such stunts. They ask people to shout as loudly as possible for a small reward of even $5, and people actually do it because they are just walking around and $5 is like free money for them. Lately, I've seen many cases of animal abuse being shown live, if I'm not mistaken, on Discord.
