Is school a scam?

For sure, a lot has changed in citadels/institutions of learning just to fit into the changing world but
Is school really a scam?

It would not be right to call a school or educational institution a scam directly because in this case you can call the working principle of the educational institution a scam directly. The thing is that if you analyze the way the activities are conducted in the government schools of my country in many cases, then you will definitely see so much irregularities and corruption in the government schools of our country that a conscious citizen like you will never want to admit children to government schools. Irregularities in classes, irregularities in studies, even teachers skipping classes and giving tuition to students separately to earn money, etc. As a result of the salary scale of government school teachers in our country being higher than other employees, most teachers neglect their duties due to a different mood among the teachers. That is why sometimes it seems that the quality of education in private schools is much better than in government schools.

Its difficult blaming people saying school is a scam because even with great qualifications its still difficult getting jobs to meet end needs.
Just like what made me quite my academic dreams,  after spending some years of in schools with hope of getting employed after all, it turned in an opposite direction and I once called school a scam and continued pushing for ways of making money without the use of certificates.
In conclusion because it didn't favour me i won't say school is a scam as  many are still making it through schools.

If most graduates are unemployed in your country, that is the government's fault for failing to create enough jobs. But if you have graduated while many of your friends have good job and stable incomes and you do not, then that is your responsibility because you have failed to apply what you learned in the real world.

Education and school have never been a scam or the problem. They simply provide you with knowledge and tools, but they do not guarantee anything. Blaming education only shows that we are avoiding responsibility for our own choice and effort.

Exactly the point, education and school is not the problem here and I am even wondering why some people will blame school or education for lack of employment. The Government should be blame for not creating job opportunities for those that are graduates. Without being in a society, I wonder the kind of society that we will have . I believe if people get to understand the primary aim of education they will not say that it is a scam. An educated mind is enlightened and there is joy that comes with this enlightenment, someone that is educated will surely know how to survive and relate with others in the society. Most people are only looking at the secondary purpose of education and not the primary aim.

Our society the issue of education is often seen in connection with college and school, whereas the real need is to understand the purpose of education. Education does not only mean getting a degree or getting a job, but also creating awareness, understanding, tolerance and positive thinking in a person. If a person, despite obtaining higher education, is unable to understand the problems of society, care about the rights of others and fulfill his/her responsibilities, then we should think that there must be some deficiency in our education. Thus, it is not right to blame the education system or the government for every unemployment. It is important for the government to create employment opportunities, but the people should also try to connect their education and skills with practical life.

These notion “school is a scam” is conceived from the idea of people who believe that once an individual goes to school and graduated then such people are automatically going to have money or better still secure a job and get made for life. So when this idea isn’t achieved they labeled school as a scam. But the truth is going to school is not a guarantee that one must become rich because obviously there are so many individuals who are extremely rich today not by going to school. If you look at the entertainment or sports industry you’ll find at least 50% of musicians or footballers who doesn’t attend college but they are extremely rich today. So the better we remove that mindset of thinking that if you go to school you’ll automatically become rich or get a job the better so that they can stop labeling school as a scam because school is never a scam, there’s no way an individual will go through the process of schooling and graduate in higher institutions and your life and behavior will remain the same, your thinking will change if I my ask the Op assuming your parents didn’t enroll you through school right from when you were in kindergarten through high school how would you be able to know how to read and write talk more of putting down this article together.

It is true that people call schools a scam when they expect it to be guaranteed wealth. When it does not happen, they call school the scam and become disappointed. Education is and was never designed to be promised for financial success. It provides knowledge, develops critical thinking ability and improves communication skills that give people a stronger foundation for their career or business that they choose. It is quite understandable why people will become frustrated.

The cost of education is increasingly high, while the job opportunities is not that many. Graduated people spend years and years struggling to get a single job. If they get a job, they are so low paying that they have to struggle financially. That reflects that there is a problem in the economy and the labor market, not in education itself or that education is worthless.

I can never support the motion that say school is a scam because school has its own positive effects in all humans that went to school and believe it or not, knowledge that will gain while schooling play a major roll in our day to day activities and it is also seen that sometimes an educated person can end up not getting a reasonable job that pay all his bills but that doesn't make school to be a scam, as far as we have been able to graduate from school, it is now left for us to invest on our self by investing on business that can yield success if future time comes and stop wasting time waiting for white caller jobs opportunities that will make think that is school is a scam.

The importance of education can never be overemphasized, not at all. Firstly, we are all here in this forum, reading, writing and contributing and learning, isn't that the power of education?

Now about the contest you mentioned. It is very visible. Education completes us in some way. You know, there is always something odd in a person that's not educated, am sure we must have noticed this. You may venture into business and make so much money, or investment and get enough financial capacity, yet, if you are not educated, then there is something off about you. Everybody just needs to get educated because it's a tool we need to grow ourselves and the society we find ourselves in. Especially your way of reasoning, how you understand things and attend to things will always be effected by the level of education you have. The good thing is that people can still acquire education at any age provided they are interested and have the finance to do so.

Very true. People judge school or education based on the idea that it should guarantee a high paying job and this is a very wrong way of looking at it. The number advantage of school and education is the fact that it gives knowledge, discipline, critical thinking and skills, and with these, even in an economy or country where there are no actual jobs, you should have all it takes to create one for yourself. The real problem is that many people who get admitted into schools often end up seeing graduation as the finished line, instead of a starting point and a foundation to start building on.

I think the term school fraud oversimplifies the problem. I can understand the frustration of someone who has studied for many years and still hasn’t found a job, even after earning a degree. Its very difficult finding parents that believes its not good sending there children to school even if they are  handicap financially or anything related to that.
As for the idea of seeing school as a scam,  that mostly depends on the person in question.  For example after I lost i job I believed was already mine, I immediately concluded within myself that there is nothing good in going to school until when reasons that proved me wrong on that ideology came.
Ones decision at times changes everything, if you have lost it on the process of pushing one may think and believe going to school is just nothing but waste of time but know matter what there is nothing better than going to school because it helps expose one to the challenges of life.

We are being taught of many things in the school, learning things, and letting us experience life.
It is like a simulation on how to be a worker, studying 8 hours a day with an hour lunch break.
Learning skills to improve, be graded by your knowledge and attendance, and if you meet the required grades you would move up.

Some of those making such statements and referring to school as scam are majorly those that have never gone through schooling, because the process of true education is a hard job not everyone can be able to go through it, so for someone who have no experience of what formal education system is all about, is easy for such a person to call the process a scam because they can go through it not for any other reason, this set of people tend to replace money with education, because they believe once you habe money you are above education and once you are educated but with no money means that education is a waste, this is the ugly side of thing's and the true show of ignorance.
