Also, as important as having a budget is, it is even more important to accept that budget as final. Many people set a budget but when they start losing money, they can’t accept it anymore, In my opinion the real control is in the head the budget is just a guideline. If someone is not mentally prepared to stop then no matter how much you give them, they will somehow break it, So without discipline and acceptance a budget alone can’t do anything.
That’s another problem, because no matter how big or small the budget is, if a person can’t control their emotions, it will always lead to losses.
You know what they really need to master first? Controlling themselves. Because if they keep trying again and again but still can’t control that part, then maybe they’re not really fit for gambling in the first place.
If someone has weak emotional control, they’re very prone to ruining their life because of gambling. But if that happens, the fault is not really gambling itself, it’s their failure to control themselves.
This is true, millionaires who go bankrupt from gambling is also a real thing, I have seen it happen, people who lost entire apartment (literally 24 homes in it) so we could definitely see people go from very wealthy to very poor because of gambling. This doesn't mean that it's easier for them, it takes a lot longer for them to get there, and advantage of that is that since it takes a lot longer, they could seek help and stop before that money runs dry. But if they do not, then they are going to lose it all.
Meanwhile, if you are a poor person, and try to gamble your way to making yourself rich, then the case is that you are going to bankrupt a lot quicker, so you will not have time to even be an addict enough to seek help.
