This decision was not a marketing ploy, but a question of standards. Copper conducts heat much more efficiently than aluminum, enabling lower operating temperatures with the same noise level. The anodized surface also provides corrosion protection, improved heat distribution, and a distinctive, high-quality look. Compared to the aluminum version, temperature improvements of 5 to 10 °C were measured – with more stable voltage and lower overall power consumption.

Pure solid copper variants showed hardly any measurable advantages in the tests, but were significantly more expensive. The copper-anodized cooler thus proved to be the perfect balance between efficiency, stability, and economy.

The result is a real game changer: no more worries about overheated VREGs. Even under high load or overclocking, the area remains within the optimal temperature range, so the board runs more stably, the ASICs are more consistent, and efficiency increases noticeably.

The advantages are measurable and immediate:

Significantly lower power consumption due to reduced heat loss.
Cooler circuit board, more stable ASIC performance.
OC-ready ex works, no additional cooling required.
Longer service life and higher operational reliability.

Normally I expect all these solo miners to come with copper heatsinks for better cooling, it's not smart at all that some of them are using aluminium and the other blacky heatsink.

They have worse cooling efficiency ever, it's better to buy extra copper heatsinks while ordering for the miners if you care about longevity, I don't fool myself believing that cooper heatsinks can't make a difference, they do.

It will cost extra money for sure but it's worth it, some people are already complaining that their solo miner died on them, the bitaxes especially, at times it's not about hashrates but also about the durability of the devices.

The NerdQX 8TH consumes 170 watts. I'd guess the chip's TDP will be 160 watts.
If your PC processor has this kind of TDP, you won't be able to use an aluminum heatsink. A heatsink with copper pipes is typically used.

If the chip had a TDP of 50 watts, you could use an aluminum heatsink; there's little point in using copper.
