Of course, I compare prices and choose more favorable ones. I guess that's what most people do. Moreover, shopping is no longer necessary, since all non-food retail has been online for a long time. As for grocery retail, prices in large chains are almost the same, and there are almost no small independent stores left. So the choice comes down to scrolling through the sentences. By the way, there have long been software tools that select the most profitable offers. So, in fact, the buyer does not need to make any efforts to make the most profitable choice. Now, discounts, personal discounts for loyal customers, etc. are often the deciding factor.

Why not if they're high-value products? For small products I don't often compare the price, like if I am buying a soap, then I don't compare it because almost all the shops cost the same. But for high-value products, definitely I compare, including payment fees. Before buying high-value products, first I compare from online shops and get an idea. Then, during the purchase visit, couple of shops and check their condition and facilities as well, and then take the decision.

Always cheaper doesn't mean I have to buy; sometimes reputation and after-sales service also matter. That's why we need to compare value, including facilities and condition; it's just all about not the price.

I compare product prices, but I cant say that I am moving from shop to shop (it only sounds complicated) or spending a lot of time on it. Regards food, it isnt hard to do, as I think everyone has that webpage that collect all weekly discounts from food retail store. All you have to do is to scroll down brochures, select what you want, then go to food retail stores app, select food and order delivery. Buying electronics is also easy, there are numerous webpages that compare prices. All you need to do is to click on picture, get redirected and order everything online. With clothing it is a bit complicated, as you there are moments when you need to try them on. In my case, when I go shopping for clothes, I dont go buy everything I need at once or in sets. If I need new shoes, I go to mall, run around few shops to look for exact model I want, then quickly compare prices and ask for my size.

At this point there are comparison websites directly. You enter an item, and it shows you where it is the cheapest. Of course you have to be careful because at some point there are places which are scam, so if amazon is next cheapest and just like 3-5% higher price, you prefer that because you know you are not getting scammed compared to some weird website done with wordpress.

But yeah, those comparison websites are great, you enter the item that you want to buy, the name of it, and it shows you a list of many places and you get to choose from it. It even has the "brand new /second hand" type of things so you can filter it like that, sometimes getting some stuff second hand is not bad, like ebay and such, you can do that.

Amazon is enough for me. If there is something it does not have, there are huge retail online marketplaces that always help. With free return and item protection feature, it is almost a place with zero scam. The more I think about shopping online, the more I come to conclusion that I can do almost everything online without leaving house. Comparing prices online is so easy and saves so much time, that it is a crime if somebody does not do it. It saves so much time and money. Not only I find best offer, but I do that relaxing at home instead of walking from shop to shop in mall. But it also saves me from unnecessary purchases because I do that alone, but things I only I need (However if something is needed for my child, its better to go and try it on, because children sizes are different even though they are same on tag, plus they grow fast). Market survey is very important mostly when purchasing in large quantity or a very costly product. As a business person or a consumer doing market survey can determine the quantity of products you can be able to afford . Mostly for business people, it will likewise define how you will sell to your customers. As much as many people don't care about price difference, once the feeling of being cheated comes in the business will be greatly affected over time making it a good idea to do market survey before buying so you can sell at good price to customers. For sure you as a customer will feel bad when you realize that you are cheated, so making survey before buying is not a bad idea.

It's only wise that before buying anything either in a shop or even market, you should first of all go and do a market survey by asking around different shops which are selling similar products or items. This will help you to choose the shop that is more pocket friendly with respect to the quality of the items you want to purchase. I always ask around before buying anything because there are shops that there prices are too high and they take undue advantage on people.


But there is a class of person's that I have seen that don't don't ask around and pay what ever, price that they are told either in the market or shops. I think that this only boils down to individual differences some people don't like stress of going around stressing themselves in the process so just go straight to were they want to buy the product and buys .

When I go to a store to buy something and they tell me a price that I usually will not buy that stuff I will go to the next store to confirm if it's actually the same price or the store owner is just trying to cheat me and if I go to the next store and the owner of the store tells me a similar or the same amount that the other one told me I will just buy from there and go I don't go more than two store to confirm the price of a particular goods before buying I know some set of people usually go from one store to another to confirm the price of a goods before they will buy especially when they go to market to buy or purchase food stuff.
There's nothing actually wrong in doing that because as someone who wants to manage his or her resources or finance very well you will actually do that.

How would you know that the second shopkeeper told you the right price and wasn't also trying to cheat you? If one shopkeeper can increase the price knowing that you are a new customer and you probably don't know the actual price, the other shopkeeper can do the same thing as well, which is why the best way is to visit multiple shops to confirm the price or at least have an idea of what the average price of that product is, and then you should go with the one that gave you the best offer after bargaining if that's an option.

And, of course, this should only be done for products that have a pretty high value, I mean you don't really need to roam around that much for a product worth $5 and you are getting a $6 offer. I would generally just use the internet to find out the average price of a product if I'm not sure about its price in my locality or the country where I live.

If you give it a quick Google search, you will find out multiple online stores trying to sell the product, the price can vary, of course, because not all stores will give you the same price, but you will at least get an idea about what the average price of that product should be, and then when you go and ask a shopkeeper, you will immediately know if they are trying to cheat you when they tell you the price.

I think price compare is an important aspect of economics that would likely benefit people who buy a product in large quantity, or regularly in small quantity. The difference in price, no matter how small could add up to a sizable amount when the product is bought in many quantities at once or overtime.  People tend to overlook this,  probably because they don't have the desire to move around or don't care how much they spend. In the case of the former, it would be nice to have a service or place they can go to obtain this info or compare prices.  I'm certain this already exist online such as one or few places in cryptocurrency world, but could be abit difficult to be replicated properly in physical world

Sure yes before purchase I ensure I do a proper market survey before going for purchase some times I could do that through series of phone calls and other times maybe confirm the prices at the pick up stores and compare with other stores around before going for purchase.  And that saves me a lot most of the times before I sometimes end up buying some things very less expensive and save some cost for myself compared to other times when I need some thing urgently and just have the buy from nearest and available store  because I don't have all the time to start comparing prices before purchase.
This situation where you probably need something very urgently comes where you don't buy things in bulk and you always buy things when there is  need,  definitely you will always be buying things expensively but when you buy them in bulk do your price comparison and buy in bulk to stock up you will definitely save some cost.

For monthly grocery, I have finalised a supermarket whose rates are less compared to few others that I have checked. There are items which we buy once in a while like LED TV or AC. For such purchases we need to check prices at different outlets because that can help us in saving considerable amount of money. Well, I kind of disagree.  Capitalism didnt just discover marketing, because what people want is not a cheap loaf of bread anymore - they want a loaf which makes them think that they are better than their neighbor who bought the "normal" bread.

I do believe that, these kind o comparisons are the ones we really can't do without because they are what brings competitions and fight against monopoly from the economy and market and yes i take out sometimes to compare prices and quality while buying, especially when i'm buying in much quantity or doing a major supply of a commodity.

That is so true, these capitalists have found a way to make their products still sellable even if they are above the market price. They are making it like a premium feeling so that people won't look for a cheaper price for their specific products. Also, these businessmen are also coming together and have associations where they'd agree to the price that they shouldn't lower it because they'll also benefit. It's not only consumers and employees who are helping each other. But also these entrepreneurs or businessmen by forming such organizations that helps them retain a competitive price.

It’s pretty rare to find the exact same product with a drastically different price. Some stores just have discounts sometimes, so that’s usually where the difference comes from.Sellers will always try to sell things for a higher price if they can, because at the end of the day they set their own prices and want to make more profit.

The only way you can detect the price of things is if you buy items in a random store and you don't have a particular store for purchasing. The reason why I won't choose to buy things in stores where their prices are irregular is not just because of the little increase in profit, but because some business people take it upon themselves to fix prices as they want.

Even if I can afford to purchase in stores like this, I would prefer to go to another place where the prices are fair because people need to do the right thing and not take the law into their own hands to fix prices just for their personal gain. In business, you need to consider customers and not just yourself.

If there is a significant price difference for the same product, it is only likely to occur when we are buying from unregulated street vendor. That rarely happens if we shop at supermarket because the prices there are all clearly displayed. If there is any difference, the price gap between supermarket chains is not significant and not worth running around comparing

I usually shop at supermarkets and authorized stores because it help me avoid buying low quality goods and saves me a lot of time.

In many case I actually consider buying same stuff from different shops just to compare their prices and quality, but there are some places where people that are selling same products did strictly base their price in the same amount wherever you go in that market. And in addition to that, in my region, price regulatory authorities are not much doing their jobs therefore people that make their shops look nice put more price in their products as they like, so as a result of that, as far as the product that you're about to purchase is the same thing, I don't care to buy them from the local shops because they are the ones that sell things in cheaper price. This might be a habit that’s particularly common among women, because in my experience, not all men are like that some men buy things without comparing prices at other stores and I’ve seen this among my friends. I have a friend who has a habit of buying things without comparing prices, so when he finds the item he’s looking for he’ll buy it without checking for the same product at other stores. But I agree with what you said comparing prices can be one way to save money.
