When the US is busy bullying the world, China is seeking means to make more business partnerships. The good part about this Chinese policy is that African countries now have the chance of accessing the Chinese market. China has one of the biggest markets in the world, so smart African countries can create products and services that could be in high demand in China. Some African countries now know who their true friends are, so the propaganda against China is failing.

Chinese always they steadily focus on their growth or production or prefer to extend their relationship with other nations. China keep itself away from war or terror. Because they know it just create disturbance in both side economies. Whereas try to introduce such policies that encourage the investors or strengthening their economy. And this step of removing tax is one of this .

This step give benefit to both as African enriched in natural resources or China its self good in industry sector. China promote it's industry or it is a one more addition for it's exports. Removing terrif stimulate the economy of African as condition of its economy is below the standard. It can play the role increase their growth rate. On other side China get one customer more, for selling the product. Ethically a good way to enhance the boundary rather to impose the war on it. U.S in this regard is not doing good, imposing war created hatred among the nation for U.S. That's why China policy is based on wise approach

China has been working together with many African nations, like Ethiopia for example got a whole town made, for free, and the payments were postponed. In exchange, China just requires citizens to go there, and this is the new colonialism that they have. Now they just pay a lot to some nations, and instead of getting that debt paid back to them, they just send thousands of Chinese people to people and that's how they work.

This is why we should consider how they are literally taking over nations with their population, and that's a very risky thing for these nations. If you keep getting great amounts of things built and your nation becomes a great place to live, and you are getting free money forever, but in return you are getting 5-10% Chinese population, that's not an easy thing to accept, the future could be very scary.

China, is an industrialized country and their products are visible in every parts of the world especially in Africa, that is my believe, I don't know about other countries but almost everything that we use in Nigeria, are imported from china. From electrical gadgets, building materials, fashion, spare parts and a lot more, almost everything in our homes and on the roads are made in China. So if China, is giving back to Africa, through removal of tariffs from exporters into their country, I think that is fair enough since they are gaining so much more from Africa.

I wonder the kind of impact that African goods will have in China, I don't think it will be anything to write home about except for raw materials to produce and ship back finished products back into Africa and the rest of the world. China, is too big to be affected by removal of tariff from African products into their country, I applaud them nonetheless for their business initiatives.

But if a nation like China which is a big player in the global stage is offering this type of offer to the African countries, I see no reason why people will be opposing it. The truth is that African can't compete with China in any way currently going by the current structure of the world. China is far more industrialized and is only second to that of the United States when it comes to their economy, so I believe that China is even doing Africa favour by trying to open up their market to the African continent.


Whether you say we are exporting raw materials or not at least we are producing something that is of importance to these big players in the global stage, so I don't see anything that is actually wrong with these types of moves.

Until that is done these types of moves will not translate to real success as it will be seen by country such as America as another plot from China to lay more hold on Africa which is the battle ground for the next world order. Your instincts about this being strategic rather than purely economic are backed up by the numbers, and you are right. If we look at those numbers, the gap is as big as $100 billion. I was shocked to find these numbers, so the advantage they have given looks too small here.

If we look at the stats, China-Africa trade has expanded more than 27x in the last two decades because in 2000 they were trading 87 billion Yuan, but as of 2025 it has increased to 2.49 trillion Yuan. Which basically shows their long-term strategy that they will probably build on in the next two decades.

China is also positioning itself by giving relief, while on the other hand the biggest competitor of China has increased tariffs. So this gives an edge to China as well, and this must not be the end of the advantages for either China or Africa, because before making a move they think of every single step they could use for their benefit, so there must be more to it.

It's a beneficial thing for both sides. As you might imagine, China doesn't "need" stuff from other nations, they need to just keep selling to them, and that's not going to be easy at all, it is not possibility to only sell and never buy.

So what they are doing, is getting the farming crops from Africa, giving them money, and then taking that money, by selling them stuff that they are building. This creates economy for both countries and not a bad idea at all. I would say that would be a lot better on the long run.

China is very intelligent and has good skills in growing its business branches around the globe. It always tries to step ahead wisely so that its economy can boost faster as compared to other countries. These are some things that make China a good competitor in the international market. At the same time, we can never neglect the fact that China is a competitor of the US and is now very advanced in every field and industry.

But I am also thinking why any country would remove tariffs this way to benefit the other country's business.

In my opinion, this fact is something extraordinary and perhaps the first thing China has done in Africa, I think this will be one of the best opportunities in terms of economics and cooperation between the two countries and this will be an example for other countries.

I am sure that if this happens Africa will get a quick boost from China for economic growth in terms of imports and exports, this will trigger new conflicts for the US in terms of trade there will be resistance to dominance against the US.

I want to see Donald Trump's response to China's policies for Africa, whether Trump dares to oppose China.

You are right and your concern are genuine. Although it's a welcome development, but no one should make it look as if China is doing Africans favour only, as the benefits are mutual, but still more beneficial to China overall.

To be frank, I don't like Chinese incursion into Africa via commerce. I just hope our African leaders will be witty and sagacious dealing with them and not sell us for pittance to them. I see China as a country that doesn't come out straight with what it wants. That's my observation of them after I saw how it banned Bitcoin in 2017 and then coming back years later to romance it. I know there's a struggle among the world powers of who gets a better chunk of deals with the African continent because of our raw materials and talents. China has introduced a zero percent tariff policy for imports from about 53 African countries excluding Eswatini due to her ties with Taiwan.This move will see African goods penetrating the Chinese market without any import duty which will translate to making goods coming from the African, market cheaper and more competitive with those of china in the Chinese market.With these policy coming to effect from the first of May agricultural goods such as Cocoa,Coffee, yam,Fruits including Natural resources and raw materials will be free from paying any form of import duty making these products more cheaper accessing the Chinese market.

But the big question that came to my mind when I first saw this News was, why is China doing this.This is a strategic and well calculated move by China to strengthen trade ties with Africa and continue to have more footing and influence in the African market, there by position itself as a major partner of the Global South which will translate to expanding Chinese global dominance agenda.

But one shocking revelation that I found out is that, even with these zero tariffs Africa still exports less to China than it imports from China annually, so China is not stupid but this is strategic in nature, and has a goal that they intend to achieve. This is a good and welcome development but it will have little impact on the African continent this is because until African countries improve in the areas of production, infrastructure, and industrial development which will see African countries move closer to the part of industrialization exporting cars, smart phones, engine and even technology to China and to the rest of the world. Why? The answer is extremely simple: to make these countries as dependent on China as possible. Let’s start with the fact that in developing or Third World countries, China is trying to build "economic colonies"-or, to put it more simply, "colonize these countries without military intervention".
It’s easy to verify this; here are a couple of facts that are easy to check:
1. China’s economy cannot survive without exports. It is export-oriented.
2. The loss of key markets following a confrontation with the West would create enormous economic problems.
3. Developing countries and second/third world countries CAN import huge volumes of goods from China, thereby saving China’s economy from collapse.
4. It is necessary to show a "friendly gesture" and "honest relations". China is "lowering tariffs"
5. In reality, China is not lowering tariffs. As you have noticed-in fact, everything on which China has "lowered tariffs" is either natural resources or products in high demand on the markets (coffee, cocoa-products that may soon become scarce). In other words, China is essentially reducing its procurement costs; at the same time, take a look at the supply contracts-they contain very strict, very strict obligations for suppliers, and exorbitant penalties.
6. And the key indicator: look at the trade balance between China and any of these countries, and you’ll see who benefits and who is the underdog.

Okay, this is news to me but from what i read from the link you sent, it indeed does look like a very smart move from China and it has me thinking, to the open eyes it looks like the Chinese market and local will have more competition but the stats say otherwrise, just like you wrote, Africa still imports more than it exports to China which means the zero policy is china trying every mean possible to increase trade with Africa, i dont know man, it just leaves me thinking, why? What other deal was made that we dont know about?
I really want to hope they had our best interest at heart with whatever deal was acrtually signed behind closed doors.

If China had increased tariffs on African goods like Donald Trump is doing to most countries around the world, would you be asking why? Or would you complain that it would further increase the trade deficit between China and Africa. Zero tariff on African goods is to increase the level of export from Africa to China and i am pretty sure African nations will take advantage of this.

There was no deal signed, everything does not have to be a conspiracy theory. This is basically China trying to further improve trade relations with Africa and i don't see anything inherently wrong with it.

Its possibly part of a general change in trade by China, a reaction to being cut off by USA and controlled in that way which is not something the government of China appreciates.   It also makes sense in general economics to trade freely with as many countries as possible, it makes you diverse and resilient beyond relying on just one source.
  There is also the question of a decline in USA wealth, excessive debt and other problems undermining trade, the added interference of tariffs and threats recently underlined that.  The response could be with anger or thanks that the action forced China to react now to plan for a time the trade is missing or lacking on the world stage.

  Africa has some of the highest growth in the world though often resets, civil war doesn't help but its a giant continent.  China also needs much of the commodities stored here so its natural trade in that aspect in any case.

This is good news in that the situation will now change for the market and the pressure on it will be reduced to a great extent. If the war in Asia and any kind of pressure does not continue for 6 months, the market effects can go up quite rapidly. America can also be quite happy with this because it wants to eliminate China's power and such pressure and wants to impose such tariffs and sanctions itself so that everyone works under it. Now it is to be seen what reaction America brings from this. It has become quite disappointed in its visit to China because nothing went in its favor as it had thought. Even if China stops attacking Taiwan, America can be quite friendly with China, but China does not want it like this. They consider Taiwan as their part, so the attack on America also continues.
