so.... people are seriously still using this service?

u guys know the owner owes 100k's of BTC in a seperate obvious scam?

And we should care... why?

And this is the problem of or lack thereof community.   Yes you should care.   Why you ask?  Because the person who knows someone who did something bad and still chooses to support them in a way could potential exhibit the same type of behavior.   Your reputation is important and saying you don't even care and don't know why is a statement that can be very telling.   Also empathy is a human trait.
I don't see how GPUMax can really be that heavily related to BS&T. Even if it is, I was one of the most vocal people in warning others about putting their money into a black box. If they went ahead and threw their money away that's their own idiocy.

The most I'm ever risking on GPUMax is a few days mining revenue, if it shut down tomorrow and I didn't get paid, I'd lose a total of maybe a few hours of my regular salary...

First off, its a known fact that Pirate controls both and I believe they play or played an integral part of his operation.   You are right, that is there own idiocy BUT, we should still care if people are being misled or ripped off.    This is why, we are Bitcoin (the people who use it), if we are to have no external regulation then we are left to depend on self-regulation, this means that we "have" to care or it will just become filled with all kinds of lawless behavior (like a pirate if you may) to the point it will become death knell to this project.   Yes there is personal responsibility stressed at the paramount but we need to all pitch in and flush out any and all scammers to set precedent.

Thoughts Shadow383?

My last payment was received on 8/26 @ about 7:10pm central time.

But I have since stopped mining, and haven't earned any more btc since then.

And that is what I would expect to happen. The service will die a slow death. Payments for work will go unpaid
until you eventually lose a week's worth of payments when the service dies off and gets shutdown.

And losing a week's worth of payments will null out the last week or so.. leaving you feeling a lot like the
lenders of BTCST.

Might as well stop using this service now as I cannot imagine the end result being pretty. Pirate has not
been in the #gpumax channel for 5+ days.

[10:56] <gribble> pirateat40 was last seen in #gpumax 5 days, 13 hours, 22 minutes, and 39 seconds ago: <pirateat40> If they did get backed up they should get better soon since things are slowing down.

Are you guys getting paid? I have been using gpumax for 48 hours or so now. Hardly have had any public work, so I only have 0.6 BTC. I thought it was every night, but I guess you have to reach a certain balance until it will pay you are night?

no, pirateat40 is sending payments manually, at least that's the last I heard.

It seems like payments are going out whenever he decides to send them.  Recently it's been every couple days...

[19:03] <jddebug> zux0r please send out payments.

[19:32] <Forexmasterja> what causes the price per share to fluctuate when purchasing shares ?? is it based on user set rates ?
[19:33] <jimbit> Yes.
[19:34] <@pirateat40> Hey guys, payments will go out at midnight for all the purchases run up till today.  We are trying to get all the purchases out of the system that need to be run.  If you have a purchase pending or paused please contact us at support@gpumax.com so we can investigate it or issue a refund.  Thanks.
[19:35] <abracadabra> uhm
[19:35] <jimbit> I read payments will go out at midnight, and my heart skipped a beat.
[19:35] <abracadabra> "We are trying to get all the purchases out of the system that need to be run."
[19:35] <abracadabra> why?
[19:35] <jimbit> good question, one I had myself
[19:36] <jimbit> but it could be just clearing out pending stuff.
[19:36] <jimbit> especially if they are accepting purchases on site.
[19:36] <@pirateat40> Cause we have a ton of pending purchases with either bad pool info or issues with missing tiny amounts of payment.

Meh, people are just plain moronic if they continued using GPUMAX knowing the BTCST problem. Like I said, prepare to see GPUMAX debt being sold.

I'm still passing some shares through there just because it's convenient - at the end of the day I have at most ~10BTC tied up in gpumax, it's hardly the end of the world.
For the record, I consider gpumax a better credit risk than BS&T - hell, if it does default surely someone can set up a clone.

Does anyone know what the situation is with pirate as a "partner" in gpumax?
I presume it's possible one of the other devs could take away enough info to set up a clone elsewhere...
