About how long do share purchases take to be fulfilled at the normal rate?

Someone at GPUMax has to start them manually, after which it should be pretty quick, you're looking at anywhere from 100-600Ghash/s pointed at the pool of your choice.

Thanks! As well, is the ability now there for mining to your own pool/solo, not just going with the main ones that are accepted?

I tried it and had 650 Gh pointed at my pool within minutes.  Delivered the full amount, plus some.  Question is, at those prices who is buying shares and why?  I can just buy BTC from Gox for less.  BTW - I couldn't pay USD, only BTC.

If someone wants to pay me 3342 per share, heck lets talk - I got 8 G's

LOL.   Sign me up!

Seriously though.....this has been debated ad naseum, and the concensus is buying shares is a form of gambling on Proportional pools.  You could make a lot of money if you hit a hot streak while pointing the ION cannon that is GPUmax at a prop pool.

I tried doing a 40000 share purchase for the hell of it when they were at 0.0000287 the other day - pointed it at eclipseMC, happened to get fairly good luck and made my coins back + 50%.

Also, on a 40000 share purchase gpumax actually delivered over 50000:

This matches my recent experience, it was minutes at most.
It might even be practical to use GPUMax to hop...

Continuing to experiment here... so far gpuMAX sees the correct hashrate, but my pool (BTCGuild) is showing considerably less hashes.  For example, with no public work happening I'm sending 4.4G to max, but I'm seeing 3.8G at the pool.  Normally, if I send it direct, I would see a number much closer to 4.4G.

Is this what other people are seeing?  I'm not too excited about losing 600 Mh.

Remember, there is leasing going on and that will lower your rate at your private pool.

There are times where you'll see it go the other direction as well.  It has something to do with how the stats are counted/displayed on GPUMax.  There are times where it gets behind, so you appear to be doing less than whats being reported at the pool.  Then when its catching up, it'll say you're doing more than what the pool says.

Nope, 40000 shares, about 1.14BTC or so, started maybe 40 seconds later and delivered >49000 shares, got in the middle of an eclipseMC good luck run and got paid 1.77BTC  Smiley

This is why I quit mining through GPUMAX.  The dashboard in my account did not match what I was seeing at my pool.  And I didn't ever see it go the other way (my pool never reported a higher hash than the GPUMAX dashboard).

And the numbers my pool were reporting (when there was NO public work happening) were significantly lower than what I was used to.

Interesting... could this be the mystery ingredient that people have been missing from GPUMax?

They take a few shares off the top, could this perhaps be the mystery miner?

Also another, somewhat related, thought I had this morning.  What if gpumax kept a solved block every now and then?  They would know if a given hash solved a block yes?  So if they didn't keep every one, but just the occasional that would add up over time.

I am not sure if that is even possible given the very little I know about mining, but if it is/not I would love to hear a more detailed extrapolation.
