This is coming from a friend, he's been with a company that is a restaurant and a catering service for 15 years, and is a regular employee. This is not really a big company, but it's been stable for the last 20 years.
But he learned that the owner became hooked in casino, and he was just starting to frequent casinos.

Now he is asking me, is it a big concern if your employer starts to frequent casinos? Or he is just speculating that it will harm the company eventually.
The number of times a person visits a casino is certain that he is addicted to gambling, so it is something to worry about if our boss often visits casinos because when he is in that situation, the chances that can occur are addiction and after this addiction can have an impact on his work environment, especially his business and after that his workers.

My friend lost his business due to gambling addiction even though there were no workers in his business but it was a very fatal event, because he could lose his source of income because of something that had no clear benefits.

It's the bosses business how he spends his private time and his money too, how sure is your friend that his boss just started gambling, dude may have already been gambling Kong before your friend found out yet his company is still standing, simply finding out that your boss is a gambler doesn't mean that his company has automatically gone under so if your friend thinks that his bosses gambling is a threat to him being payed the they are welcome to look for employment elsewhere.

It's concerning because we all know how gambling can destroy our lives including his business. And so if that happens that the owner fell into addiction then who knows, maybe he will have to close the business.

If not they maybe there will be concerns about the salary of his employees including your friend. There could be delayed as the owner might used the money to fuel his addiction and playing online or land base casinos in our country.
If a business owner is addicted to gambling, employees should start looking for new jobs early. While nothing serious may happen, it's best to be prepared for any eventuality. This will be the right and wise decision.

We are all far from perfect individuals, and each of us makes mistakes for which we have to pay. As the saying goes, "Keep your nose to the grindstone."

Gambling is a personal choice, and there is no harm if the employer gambles responsibly and rightly using only the amount that is his Discretionary income..But then again I wouldn't erase the possibility of things taking the other turn.. And so I wouldn't still be surprised if the employer eventually liquidates all the funds of the company to gamble or say stake the whole company, since it's something that's very rampant now days, most especially if someone gets too addiction....And so the only problem that could allow the company to go into ruins is if the employer eventually becomes a gambling addict...

you are right as everything still boils down to one’s ability to distinguish between work and fun or entertainment. If you know this as a business person, it should not affect the success of your business because you won’t be gullible enough to interfere business with entertainment and I’m referring to the boss here. As a matter of fact many of these big business men are into one casino or the other as what they play during their pastime but you can hardly point to anybody who is also as smart as those people as they are already disciplined and measure the effect of their actions over anything they do either for business or for entertainment which includes gambling.

I agree with what you said when our boss is addicted then it is better for us to immediately look for a new job but first do not leave the company first so while looking we are still part of the company because no one knows what each person's thoughts are that the boss might be able to recover from his addiction and be able to return to his responsibilities which must pay attention to the business and his employees. Getting a boss with problems like this is also a risk but this is a risk outside the concept of work, only it can be a problem that has fatal consequences.

It's has a magnitude of concern because we all know what is involved if the owner of the restaurant gets addicted to gambling and couldn't control his gambling habits which the outcome will be the closure of the place, so if the person is wise enough he should be looking elsewhere for another job because by virtue of the owner gambling he might as well use their salaries to gamble and will be finding it difficult to pay and that's how the company will be going down untill it folds completely, I once experience it when I worked with a mini perfume production company.

The only cause for alarm is when the owner doesn't gamble responsibly but if he is gambling responsibly for fun and entertainment and has a budget for it then the employees don't need to panic because as a business oriented person he won't gamble with his business and allow it fold up.

Addicts are still human beings just so you know, and it doesn't matter what status or position they hold, they still need someone to help them. Well since this is an employer/employee situation, the relationship might not be that close, but the best thing to do when you figure out your boss has an addiction, which you know could potentially destroy or threatens the future of the company wouldn't be to just chicken out, you don't know if the boss is already fed up and confused but don't know how to get out of it, so you can at least talk to the person to see if he's the type of addict that's seeking for help but don't know how to go about it, that way you can still help them, even if not directly but give them helpful recommendations on how to recover from that addiction.
