DCMA Takedown of my post?

Per Theymos's suggestion, I should make this post.
A couple of days ago, I made a thread about Plump's suspicious behaviour in this forum (It's a crypto casino that deleted the contents of their announcement thread and removed all their previous posts).
That thread went on, and some users made replies on it. All the while, the casino in question didn't even bother to make an official statement.
Now, I have received a message from Theymos stating that my post got a DMCA Takedown notice 'cause apparently, I copied someone's posts from Tumblr. LOL
The post on Tumblr had the same content as my post in this forum. That guy on Tumblr claims I copied his post, and supposedly, to back up his claim, his post predates mine.

Now, I have received a message from Theymos stating that my post got a DMCA Takedown notice 'cause apparently, I copied someone's posts from Tumblr.

Allowing users to change a posting time is weird but if you can prove that, your post can be recovered because you did not actually break any rule.

Assuming your post broke DCMA, your account would have been banned by a plagiarism rule, while your account was not banned. Looks like theymos is soft with your case, but I believe that you did not plagiarize in this case.

It's the first time I read about a case that a forum member with deleted post by a DCMA takedown reason.

Hmmm this is kinda interesting. First I'd like to ask if you saw this particular post about the whole plump stuff before you eventually made yours here on the forum or if you saw it after you had already made the post on the forum? Because I should be able to discuss what has been discussed in another platform here.

Where it should be an issue is if I'm copying what I found somewhere else here and not eventually giving any credit to the source because that counts as plagiarism.

I don't use tumblr but on a hunch I fed this to AI, PM me the post in question and I can see if it figures anything out... this might not work as well with closely edit'd timestamps but it may help.

I've previously made a post in there [here], and when I noticed the guys behind it locked their thread, that's when I made that post on the scam accusations board.
I wanted to discuss their suspicious behaviour: locking the announcement thread, deleting the contents, and even deleting their entire posts in this forum.

The post I made on the scam accusation board isn't even a full-length page. I only said their thread is locked, posted a bitlist archive link, link to that casino account's posts, and some links to X (Twitter) posts (which I already previously posted in their ann thread).

Those Plump scammers are trying to hide a lot of shady things that could probably let us know more about their criminal activity. That's why they deleted every post they made in this forum and went as far as manipulating the Tumblr post to make it look like you copied them so they can lobby for a DMCA takedown notice.

I believe Facebook has the same feature where someone can edit an old post with new information and make it appear as though that new content was posted the first time the post was made. What is sad is that with a mere look you won't know the new edit date until you have to dig further in the post.

This case should be reviewed, and I hope the original post of that thread gets reinstated. We can't let scammers win just like that.

The interesting thing is they deleted all posts and changed the announcement thread title to Re: 🟣.

Many posts in the last two pages of that thread, has same post titles as Re: 🟣. So most posters in that thread simply click on reply to the OP or reply to previous posts that reply to OP too, so that those posts have same title as Re: 🟣.

From what you said so far i haven't noticed where you actually violated a copyright yet. DCMA  has to do with copyright and what you did would count as one if you shared any information or content rather that is actually flagged as copyright. however from what i can see most of what you shared are reference links that were actually intended to not make the content plagiarized.

DCMA takedowns are actually kinda different from plagiarism a content that was plagiarized doesn't necessarily mean it has a copy right on it but on the other hand DCMA actually involves copyrighted content amd they are stricter per say.

This will definitely help. If you can get the post by plump and subject it to the same test as the one in the image above, it will show if the post was original or editted.

I believe julerz didn't copy them, but we have to verify. Besides, for them to delete a whole thread means they are the ones playing fishy here.

Looks like they did backdate it, so I don't see any reason the post here shouldn't be restored. julerz12 posted on May 9th, they posted on May 14th and backdated it to May 5th.

The Tumblr post is clearly backdated.  The obvious clue is that the title of the post "Plump.com Exit Scam" links to your original post in the Scam accusation: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5582516.msg66704460#msg66704460
This would not have been possible if you had copied the content from tumblr as claimed.

The second clue is the post ID: 816541756536586240.
As far as I know, Tumblr assigns IDs chronologically.  We can simply look at a few trending posts and compare their IDs to their posting dates.  Doing this, I easily found several posts that have a later date than the disputed post, yet carry a lower ID number.

I looked at the profile, and it looks like the person behind it has been doing scams for a while, and that person probably happens to be one of the people behind plump.com. They use Tumblr because it's one of those social media platforms where you you can backdate posts

Why won't they use Reddit or some other forum?

They tried to pull off the same thing with some reddit post accusating one of their services of scam but i guess they did not succeed.

They backdated their exact post on Tumblr to 30th July 2024 lol

I guess Reddit refused to take in their bullshit and the original reddit post stayed.

Oh wow. Why didn't I think of that? That Tumblr guy's edited date was on May 5, 8:33 pm including a link to Neo's post on X (made at May 5, 10:23 pm?) How?

Thanks julerz12 and ibminer for looking into the tumblr date thing. I thought that it might be something like that, but it looked plausible enough that we couldn't just ignore the takedown. With this new information, it's clearly a fraudulent takedown, so the post has been restored.
