Why does politics fail to reflect the value and interest of society it governs?

Politics is usually a reflection of society, but the truth is that it’s not always a perfect one. What mostly shapes the kind of leaders and systems that emerge is the already established beliefs, culture, valleys, and public participation. At the same time, the moment that the system suddenly becomes corrupted, politics automatically disconnects from society. This is mostly because a weak institution often allows or paves way for existing leaders to abandon agendas  that pursues the interests of the people but rather focus on their own personal interests.

I feel the who write-up here does not suit the topic. But if I am to answer this question in simple terms , I will say that why politics fail to reflect to the society is because the main aim of democracy is not fulfilled. When they are out of power they promised democracy but when they are elected they practice embellishment of public fund, power become limited, democracy becomes only the government of people in power and not government of the people any longer. Well what do people expect when we have liers, greedy men, thieves in suit who disguise themselves as good people, meanwhile they can  do anything for power and money. when they are in need they promise what they can not give,  when elected into power the true identity is revealed. And they become opposite of everything they once promised, making politics to Look like a game of lie and deceit. Politics was meant reflect to the society as a good thing but the people in power has changed the narrative as an avenue where people lie to get what they want.

Yes. The politics of a society by it politicians reflects absolutely the values of that society because it is what could be used into international lens to judge the quality of the society. When a society is filled with corrupt leaders you can imagine what could become the fate of it. Resource distribution and allocation will strangled and mostly within the hands of the few while the majority suffers.

Politics is a personal game. Those in the seat will do things to define their continuous success. If you still hope that politics will protect the interests of society they you should return to the ages.

My question for other politicians is, what happened to impeaching the current administration? Before, when a leader failed, he could be impeached, but now, no one dares to bring up the topic if inpeaching the current administration.

This is the reason why the people will vote a politician to be the head of the state so that he can provide what the people really need like hold education, roads, electricity, good water and others but some of these politicians would rsther spend the money on themselves and their family while many people are suffering in poverty.

If there is a law to evaluate what and what each politician does during his tenure and get punished when he could not act based on what he had promised, this will make majority of these politicians that don't have the interest of the people to change their mindset and tries to do what the society expected from them.

I think the reason why the politics of a society does not always reflect the society as it should be is because of the politicians, they make up the politics of every society and most times they dictate and control how the leader uses the resources allocated for societal development so if the politicians are corrupt they might pressure the leader to use those resources in their favor instead rather than that of the society

Politics is not entirely based on the peoples opinion infact it is being shaped by the different institutions and powers. People can choose their leaders by casting their voted. They can shake the politics of their country by having the proper engagement. Politics and society are interconnected and they cannot be disconnected from each other politics can be seen as a mirror of the society though it is imperfect.

Public debates,  elections and protest can put a government into a situation so they can easily adjust themeself and make them perform better they are also influenced by the global pressure and the economic conditions of the country so it is okay to see the politics as a negotiation.

Politicians are not aliens. They are voted or selected from the society. The type of leaders is a reflection of the society. A corrupt society will always give birth to corrupt government officials. Politicians don't rig elections; it is the people who help them execute it. Only corrupt citizens will accept money from politicians and sell their votes. The societal values and norms shape the political culture. In a corrupt society, a politician who doesn't steal or promote favoritism is seen as weak or sluggish.

Assuming that society is the sole cause of political failure while ignoring the other institutions or power structures is not okay , though politicians came from the public and society but it does not follow that corruption is simply reflection of citizen morality. Lack of transparency and unequal excess to the power create incentive for corruption that allows even a small group of people to dominate outcomes regardless of the public values. Elections can be manipulated by buying votes and misuse of state resources that mean that citizens are not always responsible for the flaws in the politics , government systems and institutional weakness is playing a very important role in shaping both public participation and politicians behaviour.

If the true meaning of politics is explained you will see it was developed for the wellbeing of citizens and the society in question but all changed when the political representatives in question changes there true reasons for election then replaced it with greed and corrupt mindset all for the only purpose of enriching themselves.  If  not for all this i don't think anyone could ever criticise the existence of politics in our society now instead it would have been respected and treated with value.

I would say that just as society influences politics, politics also often misguides society or breaks its structure. When political parties incite divisions in society for the sake of power, the common people are forced to follow that negative current. And when a society is trapped in the grip of politics, they can no longer think for themselves.  So in my opinion rather than calling politics a reflection of society, it can often be called a controlling force imposed on society. The idea that all political institutions are a reflection of the aspirations of society is not always true.
