Well, I've no favorite team because for me each team has its own pros and cons and that's what matters for me. I personally try my best to watch the match before placing any bets and if a team with high odds perform good then I place my bet in favor of that team. In most matches I cash out before the match is finished and for me that works pretty well. I often do such type of betting on esport games.

Every game has a favorite even in cases of where they are similarly matched, whether you have a personal favorite team or not has nothing to do with that.

You are right. Although some favorite teams are strong, the situation of each match is different. So betting only on popularity and being the favorite team or looking at the odds is like betting blindly. I am not saying that betting on the favorite team is wrong. That’s one disciplined approach there. Not either mate. Me for example, always do this at most times but I noticed that the regret and sad feeling is still there. So it is not really about the amounts but maybe depends already on the person if how fragile or strong they are. There are people that know that losing in gambling is normal. Even the other or those who don't want to lose can get aware with it, but the funny thing is they still continue.

Yes there are gamblers who selects games based on guessing and assumptions. Although those  practicing such gambling tactics are once that do not attached much value to gambling but do it because they think it can be beneficial to them on a very good day of life. Exactly, that's why its they always get stuck in gambling, instead of following the right rules and stick to them for their own good, they will choose to do the otherwise and they will end up regretting and blaming themselves after they have destroy their lives. But, they can fix their problems if they choose to do the right thing and make sure they  treat gambling as entertainment purposes, as it their chances of losing won't be that much and won't also affect them much.

Mine was a bit shitty. I have done so many random picks, and most of them were usually wrong.

Stats, injuries, present form etc are very important in making you decisions in a game,

I've done both. However, I think that just backing favorites blindly is not really a solid strategy. I believe just do the bare minimum research on the stats to back your favorite bias significantly increases win rate. Because a team might be a favorite but in a very terrible form. Whereas their opponents might be the underdog but recent form has stellar. Aston Villa destroyed Liverpool 4-1 last week even though Liverpool were the favorites and Bournemouth almost got the win against City save for a late equal from Haaland.

The reason I brought up that example was because Bournemouth was around 4 odd give or take and they were in a better form (around 15+ matches unbeaten). Their home advantage + unbeaten run of form should've been enough stats to make me back them.
