He acted based on the prevailing situation at that time. I actually think that he wanted to prove something: that bitcoin could be used as a means of exchange in the real world. I wouldn't know if there were other people in the forum at that time who had succeeded in making such a trade with bitcoins, so what he did must have been significant to the small community of Bitcoin enthusiasts - if they were actually enthusiastic about its prospects at that time.

Regret? As a human he sure would have some regrets knowing that if he had kept alll those bitcoins that he would probably be rich. In any case, what he did did help the community make progress knowing that Bitcoin had prospects as a means of exchange, even though few could see what we now see.

This question comes up nearly every year at this time.

The same question can be asked of anyone and everyone who sold or traded Bitcoin before
today. Have you had regret in the past when Bitcoin hit $126k? Will you have regret when Bitcoin
hits $500k?

So long as you still have Bitcoin in the future you shouldnt have regret.

Whats the alternative? Live like a pauper, HODL and bring you Bitcoin into your coffin?

Do you think Laszio will be regretting his actions for using that account of bitcoin to purchase just 2 pizza.
Well for me I don’t think his regretting his actions because that action has given him popularity and he has made history through that and now people celebrate him for his actions so I don’t think his regretting his actions and lastly I believe he has a lot of bitcoin his still holding.

The bitcoin community will keep celebrating Laszio because he has made history with bitcoin and the world in general can’t forget his name.

Correct me, but in one of his interview, he already said that he didn't felt any regret with the action that he has done in the past, and honestly, if that's what he felt then... okay, but I still believe that there are some times where he felt a bit of regret with what he has done, but dwelling too much about it will not change anything because it's the past and nothing will change anymore.

On a positive note, that action of him made him a celebrity on the crypto community. I mean not even him expected that people will remember him as the "Man who bought the most expensive Pizza in the world." People in the community will always remember him and as long as this forum is still online, and those pictures of him are still on Google then his action will be remembered for generations to come.

I will be forgotten when I die, but this action of him will live on. Cheesy

AFAIK, Laszlo was the first person in the world to use Bitcoin to pay for real goods. It is safe to say that what he did at that time was a historic turning point for Bitcoin and the entire crypto industry.

Regret? As a human he sure would have some regrets knowing that if he had kept alll those bitcoins that he would probably be rich. In any case, what he did did help the community make progress knowing that Bitcoin had prospects as a means of exchange, even though few could see what we now see.

Although he once said he has no regrets about it. I also believe that, as human beings, feeling of regret are sometimes unavoidable, and admitting that is not easy.

Although he has proven to the world that bitcoin is currency and can be used as a means of payment. But honestly, I do not think many people want to use bitcoin for that purpose anymore these days.

No he doesn't regret his decision to spend 10000 BTC for 2 pizzas. I read it somewhere on the internet.
He himself said that he doesn't regret it because at that moment the value of BTC wasn't much.
So he got the pizzas delivered and celebrated that moment and enjoyed it.
I would have done the same if I were in his shoes because nobody can predict the future and know what can be the worth of an asset.
So whatever the value of an asset is at that moment, just use it as it is and don't overthink.

I think the name here is Laszlo with an ‘L’ and not Laszio with an ‘I’.

What an irony, isn't it? If you type the word "Laszio" into the forum search, you can see that few people have made such a mistake. Even Google asks for a fix when it sees something like this. It is displayed as 23 results, and if we ignore those who wrote incorrectly a long time ago, 4 accounts have made such an error at this time, and oh, coincidence, they are all from the same local section.

https://bitlist.co/search?content=Laszio%20&limit=20&page=1

@Tungbulu
@SuperBitMan
@Gozie51
@Joy- maker

I see some similarities in the posting and in the nature of these accounts, although of course, this does not mean anything, and I have no desire to look more closely.

It's quite ashamed not to know the correct name of this person, especially when you want to remember them personally.

Everyone has regrets about the past tense; this is life. We can't bring back time or actions, because we don't know the future. Strong people accept reality and don't cry about "spilled milk," especially since Laszlo has something original about which he was able to imprint himself in history.

OP, correct your mistake . Respect the name. At least take a look at his account.

If we get to hear the stories of how other early Bitcoiners used their coins, we might end up saying that Laszlo maximized his. Some people used theirs to gamble, others might have sold and used it for cigarettes or alcohol. So many of them lost access to their wallets. László has said in various interviews that he never regretted his actions. I believe he and the community will always see him as a legend.

I’ve always known you had special affection for people from my local board but sorry there’s nothing for you here, so check elsewhere.

First of all, you can’t tell me what to write, how to write, when to write and where to write what I wanna write, if you have have a problem with what myself and people from my local board wrote, you can sue us, but if you can’t do that, just save yourself the embarrassment okay mate?

So what I had even spelt it as Lazio like I used to, I’m guessing you would’ve caused heaven to fall right? Cheesy Cheesy you really make me laugh fr.

So many people have already missed out on the opportunity of Bitcoin right from the early days, while some still managed to safe up and hold, even though they never have the intention of saying bitcoin getting to this extent so fast, everything lies on our ability to risk and hold, some will definitely be regretting their missed opportunity as at then by now, while some will have nothing to regret about when it comes to bitcoin and there early opportunity they had with it.

Whenever we hear this story, what mostly crosses our mind is how can someone buy pizza for over 10k BTC, but we often forget that back then, bitcoin wasn’t worth much, in fact it was almost worthless. Plus, there are people who have traded more bitcoins for a few bucks, but what’s really there to regret? At least Laszlo’s name has gone down history, and many people are still talking about and celebrating him every year. If I were Laszlo, I’d be so proud of what I did.
In fact, he must have felt thankful during those days because some have agreed to trade his bitcoins into pizza and save their dinner, despite of majority seeing bitcoin as non-valuable.

So regretting is probably out of the context, as he holds no bitterness about missing out of the massive value of bitcoin these days. He is just happy to be part of bitcoin's early history, that's it. He felt proud of himself that he was able to demonstrate bitcoin's viability to the rest of the world.

You created this thread by comparing the present time.But comparing the reality of the past with the present time will create more confusion.At the time when he bought the pizza with 10,000 Bitcoins,Bitcoin was in the experimental stage. There was no guarantee that Bitcoin would gain such acceptance in the future. Even though the pizza he bought seems to be the most expensive in the present time, I think the history he made, rather than focusing on the loss of 10,000 Bitcoins, has become an important milestone.

How can Laszlo regret his action when he enjoys a pizza in exchange of a digital currency that is almost not accepted by any merchant on that time.  And he did not overspend since the value of that digital currency is almost the same price of that pizza.  Aside from that the earlier reply confirms that Laszlo is happy of that transaction.

Only greed can regret that action, and I do not think that Laszlo has "Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda" Syndrome.

Laszlo Hanycez was once asked in an interview if he regretted buying pizza with Bitcoin for only two pizzas with ten thousand Bitcoins. In response, he said that he did not regret buying pizza with Bitcoin at all because he created the first history of buying goods with Bitcoin in the early days. If he had not created the history of buying this pizza, then Bitcoin might not have been so valuable in the present day.

If you think that anyone who traded BTCitcoin, before it reached $100,000 must regret it, that is highly unlikely to be true when they actually made the trade. Laszlo Hanyecz made a historic move by purchasing a physical product, and once he did, BTCitcoin began to hold real value.

To understand the context, Laszlo Hanyecz purchased the Pizzas well before the other major events took place. Following the Pizza Day, Gavin Andresen started a faucet that gave away 5BTCitcoin per claim until it was hacked and closed in 2012. Additionally, the first executed trade in Mt Gox was 20 BTCitcoin for $0.99 also occured after the Pizza day.

Cheesy
I do not view it as him purchasing the most expensive Pizza. Laszlo Hanyecz kickstarted the entire market. What we see now exists because he gave BTCitcoin an intrinsic value, and the entire community will always honor him for that.

Laszlo may not regret his actions in any way, but if I were in Laszlo's place, I would definitely regret it. If he had kept the amount of Bitcoin he spent on pizza at that time, he would have been worth close to a billion dollars by now.
However, wise people never regret their actions, while others in such a position may regret it, Laszlo is certainly happy with his actions.

Laszio is also known as the father of GPU mining because he was actually mining Bitcoin at the early days using GPU instead of CPU and he thus gave Bitcoin a real world price value when he sold and bought pizza which is among other things he bought during the early days of Bitcoin development.
I doubt the man will lose sleep or regret his actions, because if you check around, we still celebrate Bitcoin pizza day till date as a reminder of Bitcoin's humble beginnings and early days, wherein people hardly believe such a digital currency could thrive.

Do you think Laszio will be regretting his actions for using that account of bitcoin to purchase just 2 pizza.
Send him a PM and ask for an answer to clear up any doubts. He was online recently.

Well for me I don’t think his regretting his actions because that action has given him popularity
This act earned him 2 huge and delicious pizzas. Smiley

and he has made history through that
In fact, the very fact of purchasing a physical product (for the first time) with electronic digital money has historical value - bitcoin.

and now people celebrate him for his actions so I don’t think his regretting his actions
But for some reason, people don’t celebrate Sturdivant at all - the second participant in this purchase \ sale of 2 pizzas.

and lastly I believe he has a lot of bitcoin his still holding.
Why do you care what's in other people's pockets? Smiley

The bitcoin community will keep celebrating Laszio because he has made history with bitcoin and the world in general can’t forget his name.
I've already said this more than once, that in this story they only celebrate Laszio, pushing Jeremy into obscurity.

He was already a legend before and still is after buying his pizza.

I consider all who had the courage then to accumulate Bitcoin as Bitcoin legends. A technology that wasn't yet known, a few people believed in it and Laszlo was one of those few people then.

Rather than regretting I believe he would be happy to have created an event that's being celebrated all over the world today in the Bitcoin community. He did it for the fun but here we are today celebrating his Wonderful actions.

He didn’t regret it according to himself as shared below and this is certainly him seeing the bitcoins as same value as those pizzas then, his intention was solely to use bitcoin for is intended purpose and that’s as peer to peer exchange. I think we should be celebrating him as one of the pioneers of this great asset or project
He did good. We should try our best to put Bitcoin into our daily lives and get used to it. The only problem is we still have !esser number of business locally that accepts Bitcoins payment.

Whether he regrets it or considers it a normal occurrence, only he knows. What we can see so far is that he hasn't shown any disappointment that he spent that much Bitcoin on just two pizzas. In fact, he's gained popularity from it, with Bitcoiners celebrating the anniversary of his purchase every year. It's something he's likely proud of to this day.
