Sent 0.43 BTC for a swap and my funds got held on Exchange

Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone.

Usually I prefer using Walleteum for swaps because I’m not really a fan of dealing with KYC stuff and I haven’t had any issues before. Last month I decided to try Rango Exchange instead.

I sent around 0.43 BTC to swap into BNB. Since they mention fast/instant swaps, I expected it to be completed within a few minutes.

BTC was sent successfully from my side and everything looked fine, but after around 30 minutes the transaction was still sitting on pending. At first I thought maybe it was just network congestion or something temporary, so I waited a bit longer.

Then I contacted support and they told me my transaction had been placed on hold because of aml checks. They asked me for documents and even a verification video. I sent everything they requested, thinking it would get sorted out quickly.

I'm still waiting for updates. I’m not saying this happens to everyone or trying to attack any service, I’m just sharing what happened to me. Just be careful when using any exchange service and maybe do a bit of research first, especially if you're moving larger amounts.

Which exchange are you talking about? Is this the one - rango.exchange?

Anyway keep us updated with outcomes, but there are much better no KYC exchanges.

That's already a huge amount to risk just to test whether an exchange is trustworthy or worth using. And since this happened last month, are there still no updates regarding the issue you raised?

I think i never heard about that swap exchange before, and as far as I know, they don't even have an ANN thread on this forum. That makes it harder for people here to help or for you to raise concerns directly with their team through the community.

If you're referring to rango.exchange, they're an exchange aggregator, so they obviously don't provide their own liquidity. Regarding freezes, I think you should read their terms of service, especially: docs.rango.exchange/terms-of-use

Just look, if you want to escalate a complaint to the relevant third parties, just pay attention to which exchange channel they use to exchange your coins.

Even though you have been on this forum since 2024, but why don't you use the services on this forum? such as MobitExchange, b1exch, CCash etc.. There are already many exchanges that have escrow (Guarantee Fund) on this forum, so you shouldn't have to worry about doing it on that exchange.

Rather than doing on an exchange whose origin is unclear. After all, you do it on a quick/instant exchange. On this forum, many have said such exchanges.

@OP  This is not your first problem with an exchange or swap (at least what I can see from your profile)
You was already able to move promptly the funds/clearly aware of the meaning of transaction

Can you show a tx also in private? What service did you used? Who is helding this funds now --> (aggregator means nothing)?
I find something "not possible" to claim a big lose like this and can't show where/what service has been used.

I thought exchanges were tested with $50 or $100, not 0.43 BTC.

I read some of their reviews, and I think the reason for trusting them is their appearance on Trust wallet.

An actual scam. Asks for seed phrase. COMPLETELY shocked that Trust Wallet integrates this and now worry about Trust
An actual scam. My cross-chain swap SUGGESTED by trust wallet literally failed from Rango to BTC when going ETH to BTC. I went to their “support” which takes you to discord which then ASKS YOU FOR YOUR SEED PHRASE. All of us here for 12 years know…SCAM CONFIRMED if keys are ever asked for. I can provide txn hash as well as screenshots of the conversation as well as how they try to appear legit.

If the support team was requesting wallet seeds, there is no hope of passing the KYC test.
