I think it might be depend on the location of the sportsbook? In my country it is still in good condition even with the online gambling sites now. In our local sports book it was a hangout area of some people especially weekends and when there's a big league, maybe they can step up to the game even if they don't have online gambling site maybe they could have an online app where they can place a bet there or check results, etc. staying as is wouldn't really help at all, even the local bookies need to step up their game to catch up on what's new.

Local shops/bookmakers have not enough liquidity to compete at a global level.
Profit by itself could be related on what are you searching for. thrilling bets with some memcoin or just a basic digital usdt? no.
you are getting good odds? no. You had any advantage on playing there ... well ... for sure you can play just walking in and without account or KYC.
For sure you can just get quick cash in hands if you are a good player.

Stuff like this will depend a lot on where you live and the conditions of that place and whether there is a culture of physical gambling or not. I could say that there is a big trend worldwide as the best times of in persona betting in sports is over, but that is to be expected. I remember when I was young having to go often just to get the full daily offer to see the odds and what is available by the sportsbook, I lost a lot of my life just walking there and back even when I didn't place a bet. Well, they can always switch to an online sports bookie. I understand this must be hard for the owners of those businesses, but that's how technology is now. People will choose to sit on their couch, place their bet, and watch the game. That's the easier method. They don't need to go out.

I am sure it's not that expensive to get a developer that can recreate a sports bookie, and the licenses will be easier since their old business is in the same industry. Who knows? They might get investors when they are equal to the technology today.

She identified the problem. The ease and convenience of accessing the sportsbook online.
Now that the problem has been identified the solution is for them to have an online presence. In this time and age you will be losing as a business if you have no online presence.
They need to do good advertising so that folks will know that they can also access their sportsbook online.
However, another challenge that this creates is that, i understand in my region that most physical sportsbook are just franchises so it will be difficult to have an franchise of that sportsbook online. Has anyone thought of it this way?

Location matters.. Leaving in an area where most people don’t have the time to visit a local shop just to have the fun of betting along with other heads , you shouldn’t expect that much people unless the place used to be crowded but no more .

Overall, I think this is the same situation in most regions until some specific casino.  And if I talk about the current situation in my area, I can't really say anything officially because officially gambling is still completely banned in my country. So I can't show you any survey here about the previous situation of physical casinos there and what the current situation is.

However, the previously illegal casinos have now become online casinos. I mean, I don't see any physical casinos here. I mean sportsbook.

The sportsbook themselves are still profitable. It's just their agents that aren't that profitable anymore because only gambling made it super easy to place bets. You can be at the comfort of your home, do analysis, make quality predictions and win. The same process at local shops take more time because you've have to identify event code for every fixture and the environment is not usually calm enough to make quality gambling decisions and it also give room to plenty biases from other bettors there.

We are in the era of internet where you can literally do anything on your phone and your PC. Why should I go to a sportsbook shop where people will see me and I will not have any privacy, where people will see and go talk that I'm jobless, I will rather do everything on my phone instead so I can have my privacy fully to myself. I don't even know how people enjoy gambling outsside their comfort zone when you can do everything that you want in your place without anyone knowing that you are gambling or some people trying to extort you and take money from just because you win something from your patient and effort.

There is this behaviour that I know some guys do in physical casino which is very bad, you will go there with the intention of betting with your money and when it's time to put everything to online, they step in trying to change everything you have predicted. For instance, if you plan on betting on PSG and Arsenal game and you predicted that PSG will win, they will come and tell you that there is 1000 reasons that Arsenal will win and they will try to convince.

I think it's not limited to the sportsbooks, the time we living in is simply the digital age and businesses that can migrate to these platforms have done so.. so did their user's.. Btw , these sportsbooks that still have brick and mortar presence are there to probably show continuity of the business as it's easy to send the wrong signal should they all go digital.. so just a symbol of  still going strong

This is also normal in my country and residential environment where there are sportsbook shop. I remember those places used to be filled up because the manager also made a TV screen available for streaming live matches so people who bet can stay a little longer to entertain themselves with the live match and probably have another reason to place a live bet or another bet. However I used to find myself going there sometimes but now things has changed I no more longer visit those shops as usual probably because the comfort of using my phone has become the normal order of betting.
