People are not afraid to discuss strategies in gambling but most strategies do not work in gambling so they only talk about discipline. Countervailing responses is the fact about unsolicited advice, nobody including non gamblers or non addicts, feels comfortable around receiving advises they didn't ask for, especially when the subject matter is a type that should be left untouched as it's between the problem and the person who goes through it. Problem gamblers feel the same way and would prefer to be left alone until they'll be in to take advises. But don't force him to follow your suggestion because that can makes the situation worse because you can only suggest and let him decide whether follow or deny your suggestion. If he realizes his mistake and wants to fix, you should help him as that is the chance to put him out of gambling.

But if he doesn't want to listen, you can't do much but don't leaves him. You can consider he is an adult person who can takes responsibility for what he will do later.

You discuss strategy where strategy actually works, you mentioned sports betting, prediction market, this and some other forms of gambling as nothing to do with being strategic when the discussion is centered on how to win and make money, we can only start talking about strategy when the discussion shifts from how to win to how to effectively manage bankroll so as to preserve savings and also enjoy longer playtime.

There are games where strategy is the main mechanic to wining, that is, winning mostly goes to who ever is or turned out to be more strategic, and their strategy helped them to reach the goal first, but unfortunately, such type of games isn't common in gambling especially online gambling where time matters between two or more players.
