You’re right, that’s how it really starts and people say that they will just gamble for fun and not take it to an extent that they will rely financially on it and will have an affect on them financially of any kind but it does become that and they mostly lose more money because of this. No one can continue to win while gambling, there will be some losses while there will be some winnings. But the illustration that you used is correct which can make some gamblers later turn gambling to a means of making money and which would be the start of losses for the person. I know of a guy that consecutively won 10x two times in gambling which made him to start using higher amount of money. The person lost almost all the money and the money did not belong to him.

Being delusional as a gambler is what makes some of them to make reckless decisions. If a gambler is winning continuously it is a trap, because it will encourage them to stay consistent or commit there life to gambling. Acting impulsively is not advisable for an individual who is sensible or sensitive, and his willing to hold himself accountable for everything that happened to him due to the interests he developed for gambling. Some gamblers initially gamble for fun but after they earn money for some time, their greed increases to a great extent and they start gambling with the main goal earning money out of greed and out of entertainment. This condition becomes quite normal especially when those who cannot rely on themselves well and consciously or not I think not a few feel that or even still do until now because this condition becomes a little difficult to prevent in the end when our self-control against gambling is weak.

This is why self-control is so important when playing because if you don't, you will not think about playing for fun, but you will play with the mindset that you can win more money or recover your losses without considering that you have actually spent more money than you can afford.
