Banned accounts (especially temp bans) are not always easy to identify so when some create new accounts it is not always easy to identify that they are evading the ban on their primary account.
Only the admin can identify an account that is evading ban since they have access to all IP addresses but another way to identify an account that is evading ban is through wallet address connection between the banned account and the other account used in evading the ban.
believe it or not, some members openly have multiple accounts and will use their secondary account from another ip address (sometimes) members that are aware of the alternate/multiple accounts could report the ban evasion if they knew the first account was banned.
my point is that it would be nice if a members profile stated whether they were banned or not.
Another reason could be in the case of an auction or raffle or sale - when a member suddenly stops responding - if it was easy to identify if they were banned, that would explain the sudden lack of response.
This thread is an example of such a case - the OP is perm banned - profile shows nothing - bpip shows nothing - they were doing a giveaway and the account suddenly stopped posting.
