I don’t think there is anything there not to understand, there is absolutely nothing difficult, this are just normal security terms that needs to be followed and what is really hard there is it writing the phrases? Bitcoin is even more easier now compared to before when you will have to think and go through so certain difficulties before you can even buy and set up your security properly, so you don’t end up loosing your bitcoins to scammers, you have to be very cautious and active in terms of being able to control your portfolio.

The fundamentals of Bitcoin are still the same as were in the beginning. I don't think any of these fundamentals have changed, become difficult or incomprehensible. Of all the things you mentioned, hardware wallets may have come later. Where the fundamentals are the same too. But in the past, since the price was much lower, security issues were not given much importance. But now, since the price has increased a lot, hardware wallets are being used for additional security. All these things are not that difficult to understand. It may be a little difficult for new one , but if someone tries on their own, even then they will be able to understand these bitcoin related basic things easily on a short time .

One of the original promises of bitcoin in it early days of development
Was to give ordinary users more easier control over there money

And…that’s what Bitcoin is still providing to users till date..

Quote
In it early days, the. Concept use to be as simple as downloading a wallet
recieving the bitcoin then sending it to someone without needing a bank

Yes what changed? You still download the wallet, set it up ( which I believe you forgot to add) and then receive the bitcoin and use it as you like. If we’re talking about an “average user, I’d say bitcoin is easier to use right now than ever because in its early days, they weren’t many platforms for exchanging bitcoin or maybe even for live tracking its price because  at that time they were only few.

Today the bitcoin eco systems appears to be more complex  a new users need
to learn about things like seed phrase hardware wallet full nodes coin control
Fee management self custody security

These are basics and supposed anyone trying to use something know atleast the basics of that thing before jumping into using it, even the people that used it in the early days learned somethings before they started using it and while they’re, you can see some threads/post even on this forum from the early days where people were asking about things they don’t fully understand.

Sometimes i begin to wonder if they are making it harder and complex for the
Average person. To adopt and easily understand?

Nobody is making it “harder” or “complex” for anyone to learn about bitcoin, these things aren’t hard to comprehend for an average person.
