I found growing on Bitcoin Talk actually very entertaining. It was never a difficulty for me as I was always enthusiastic and the people who spent Merits on me made me excited to be part of the community, to learn more and to share more. I understand it may feel more difficult if you are completely new and know no thing about Bitcoin, but that is particularly the point. Members should grow and share their knowledge in a some what relation to the level they are at. If you stagnate in the 'I do not know any thing about Bitcoin' level, you are probably going to suck at getting Merits too.
But I believe most people get the idea of 'sharing knowledge' the wrong way and think they have to write 10 separate Topics about the definition of Bitcoin, how to differentiate Bitcoin from Altcoins, why Bitcoin is decentralized et cetera. Sharing your knowledge means simply sharing it when necessary. In the same way you do not hear about a construction worker telling you the definition of a brick and the difference between bricks and stones but they may give you their opinion on where the brick may be rather placed based on own work experience.
Long story short. Merits grow with you or keep you low at the bottom of the ocean if you do not grow at all.
Very nicely said, I agree with you.
Many of us, who have been members of this forum for 10 years or more, have not only learned a lot about btc on this forum all these years, but also become part of a very active community, made friends over the years, met some of them in person, etc.
When you are an active member of such a community and have regular and quality interaction with other community members, of course it is not difficult to get the merits and other benefits of active participation in this forum.
The only members who have a problem with merits and advancement on the forum are those who do not have the patience for it, who want to get everything right away and now, without effort and investment of their time, learning, etc.
