This is new, there are ten African teams at the world cup, they don't usually have such a high number of clubs representing the continent. One thing about this is that just because there are lots of African countries doesn't really increase the chances of any of them winning the cup because there are lots of countries competing that are highly formidable.

This is quite a welcome development from the organizers of this year's FIFA World Cup, because apart from 2010 when South Africa hosted the world cup whereby the African continent was manage to have 6 countries to feature in the 2010 world cup, it has always been 5 slots that we usually get since 1998 to 2022. So I'm happy, at least Africa now have the opportunity to bring the cup home. However, it's no doubt that Morocco stand a bigger edge among all the African countries listed above to win. Because with the likes of Brahim Díaz and Achraf Hakimi who are the key players for the Moroccan team, they are likely to get close to winning if they don't. While secondly, Senegal is another good country is Senegal too.

Looking at the list of the 10 African teams that qualified, I think the first three teams in your list are the ones with the potential to fly the African flag till at least the quarter finals of this year's FIFA World Cup.

The participation of 10 African teams in this event is indeed a historic move. By this, African football will get more experience and visibility.

Anyway, on paper these three teams are the biggest sharks there.

But I would not just leave small teams like Cote d'Ivoire or Algeria out of the book. They are also not bad at all. Out of these 10 African teams, it's only Senegal and Morocco I feel will go far in this world. Base on the quality of players that both teams has. Senegal group is more tough, I know it will be quite hard for them to best France, but I don't know if they will be able to beat Norway who are also in a great shape. They will have to battle with Norway for that second position. Morocco on the other hand will surely qualify and I feel they might get to the quarter finals of the world cup.  I don't think any of the current African team can even win this competition. The level of Squad, bigger coaches is what most African teams are lacking. So the highest place I feel we will get to is the quarter finals. I could have also chosen South Africa but it's been long they've last played in the world cup, which is why I feel they not qualify from their group stage.

It's not really by 10 teams representing Africa at the world cup, will one among them bring the trophy home? since the inception of the world cup, no African country has ever won it. African players have been performing so well in the European leagues, but when it comes to country matches, they don't showcase those talents anymore. Africa have produced lots of talented players so they should be able to join hands with their teammates and bring the world cup glory to Africa. I learnt that apart from Morocco who reached the 4th place at the 2022 world cup, no African team has gone more than the quarter final stages, this is so sad to hear. How i wish Nigeria made it to the 2026 world cup, it's just unfortunate that when the teams were extended, they didn't make it.

This present World Cup winner is not really about how many countries were represented on a continent. It is mostly based on their performance in football has been compared to other countries they will face off against. Can they pull through their group stage, to advance to another stage because the 10 African teams, most of them won't appear at the top of their group tables. Don't be surprised to have 3-5 of the African teams qualify out of the group stage.

That being said, the hope of other African countries that didn't qualify for the World Cup relies on Morocco because of its previous performance in the last World Cup, which many Africans are drumming their support for them to perform better than they did.

Let's hope for another semi finals for Morocco to occur again other than that, to reach the finals, not to mention lifting the World Cup which is not feasible.

It is great news that only ten African teams have the opportunity to participate, but apart from Morocco, there is no team among the other teams that can win the title from here. However, if Morocco is very strong, it can go all the way to the quarter-finals. If the second strongest team from African countries is selected after Morocco, then Senegal can definitely be kept there. Senegal came to the World Cup as the eighth best team once. However, I think Morocco will play better this time than before.

I am trusting the universe to stand behind African countries in this World Cup tournament, it should not be by the numbers alone, we want to go far in the competition, African countries has been belittled when it comes to the World Cup, when choosing favorites for the tournament, no African country is counted among the possible options.

It will turn out to be one of the best surprises if any African country wins the tournament, something which has never happened, this will turn out to be one of the most interesting World Cup, good luck to them participating.

African countries have enough potential to surprise the world. Their last World Cup was great for Morrocco they settled into the semifinals, while this time few countries are having enough depth to stay on a good level because now soccer is getting a good response, and grassroots level is bringing many players to a good level. Even I am not expecting the World Cup to come to Africa, but again, expectations are high. Any team can go through for a good spot again.

Senegal and Morrocco both are on a good level, and from them, any team can do much good to have a spot in the last four World Cups again. Again, it is going to be South America or Europe because their level is still at the top.

There are fine African teams right here that can pull up a very good performance in this world cup if they come into the world cup with the right mentality that they are worthy of winning the cup as much as other top countries are. the issue has always been fear and the lack of braveness among African players. It really disappointed me that out of 48 countries, ten of them are from Africa and a strong team like Nigeria is not able to play there. Especially teams like Cape Verde, DR Congo have qualified and Nigeria has been eliminated. Their consecutive elimination from the 2022 and 2026 World Cups means that their performance has decreased instead of increasing, even though there are many star players who still play for various prestigious teams in Europe. Although in terms of football strength, many analysts still say that the quality of Nigerian players is better than many qualified teams in Africa. But to go to the World Cup, it is not about being strong on paper but about producing results in the qualifiers and that is where they failed. My question is, is this just their failure or is there some other politics here?

Among the 10 African teams that qualified to play at the world cup I believe that Morocco and Senegal have better chances to qualify beyond the round of 16, if more than 5 are able to qualify for the quarter finals hopefully a semi finals would be possible again. Morocco have reached semi finals before so it's not impossible for an African team to shock the world again, maybe even to further surprise the world again by winning the world cup. It is the best of the best from every continent that qualifies for the world cup so as we Africans are supporting an African team to win the cup so also football fans from other continents will be doing the same for their own teams and that is the fun of the game.

In all these teams that have been listed, I see Morocco as the most consistent and the team that has the best chances of getting close to the World Cup finals. Apart from Morocco, two teams whose energy I really fancy are Senegal and Egypt. I'm sure these teams will perform well in this game, but anything can happen.

Since there are so many African teams in the World Cup, we can never tell what will happen because, in the last World Cup, no one thought Morocco would get close to the end of the game. The World Cup is a tournament full of surprises, so let's watch and see what these teams can achieve.

For me highly unlikely and for me the best performing team that I remember despite not going very far is Cote d Ivoire with their best player at the time Didier Drogba if I remember the name correctly. Despite as I said I find it difficult a team from Africa to go to the final it showes without a doubt that African football has grown a lot during recent years and now in this World Cup I predict many of the teams from this continent to easily pass group stages. Let's see how this World Cup unfolds as all fo them before have been full of surprises.

Surely they have the kind of performance at the world cup that will give them more confidence to face any world class team at the world cup but that isn't just that. Currently, Morocco stand tall amongst Africa teams not withstanding the desperation shown as the host of the last AFCON cup. They are better in my view interms of their zeal to play as a team. Senegal too has the opportunity to also do better as they have experienced players like mane who can take the challenge and encourage his team to keep going. Overall, the first three teams you mentioned remains the favourite that I see so far but as we know, world cup come with different records and surprises. The underdogs still have something to offer if they have qualified ahead of team like super eagles of Nigeria.

I'm African, and honestly, as an African who follows the games of African national teams, I have no doubt that African teams will not win the World Cup. On the contrary, they are more likely to not even make it past the group stage. This is because European and American teams are much stronger than in the last edition. Just look at how the bookmakers are setting high odds if African teams win.

For example, in the first World Cup game, Mexico against South Africa, Mexico is at @1.50 and South Africa at @8.00, and then Brazil against Morocco, Brazil is at @1.60. This shows how bookmakers are predicting defeats for African national teams. It will be a very difficult mission for African teams to get past the group stage.

It’s the first time this has happened simply because they’ve expanded the field. Otherwise, it would have been the usual five teams. In any case, the team with the best chance is obviously Morocco, thanks to the quality and consistency of their investment and the players’ performance. Of course, anyone can have an off day, but they already showed in the last World Cup that they have both skill and solidity.
We’ll see how it all turns out, but until Africa produces more Drogba or Eto’o, I think it’ll be tough for an African national team to win the title; and if they keep supplying players to the French national team, the others will win.

I will not be in awe should Morocco go into the world cup and flopped after receiving all this hype from all of you who are basing on their performance of 2022 world cup four years ago.

What I watched them played in the AFCON says differently of their performance between the world cup of 2022 and the AFCON of 2025/2026, there has been a downturn in their performance and I will not want to place much hope on them when we have other countries including Egypt, Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire who I have faith can go farther than Morocco in this tournament.

What has in major factor brought Africa football behind is the mass of corrupt officials in charge of administrative strategic posts in all the African countries. There's insufficient attention to grassroots sports development and facilities are unmatched to modern standards for these players to compete equally with Thier European and South American counterparts in the world cup. Ontil this is corrected, we can have a good conversation about African country winning this tournament soon.

They had a great World Cup, a great Africa Cup of Nations, and are still doing very well in the FIFA rankings
And they also qualified well for the World Cup, without any scares

But I really hope we see other teams go far, like Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire

It's true that in recent games Morocco has proven to be a better team in African football. For a few years now their style of play seems to be different from other teams and have the edge against every African team so that makes the best team to lift African flag up high.

Morocco has had a great run of form in recent competitions so they have a better shot than all other African teams in this Tournament. Senegal is closer but they will find it more difficult to cope with top European teams. I think they are the only two teams I can say will do better.

Ghana is already struggling with having a stable coach so I don't see them going far in this competition. Let's see who take African far in the competition.
