Op made it sound as if education or acquiring a degree certificate was the problem. I know we are told to get a degree to secure a bright future, and after graduating, there are no jobs, leaving many frustrated, helpless, and maybe even into crimes. However, that is still not a valid reason to pin Africa's problem on being too reliant on degree certificates. Education is part of civilization, and Africa needed it. Africa's major problems are bad leadership, greed, corruption, unaccountability, etc. Many African leaders are evil and corrupt, and they have colluded with Westerners to exploit the continent and keep the masses in poverty.
On this particular aspect I think tge OP is right because certificates are more recognised then what we can offer in any profession, someone may be filled with knowledge on a particular field but finds it difficult finding a job while the other may not be good on that field but has certificate will be hired, It has happened in my presence not once or twice. Not that it is bad acquiring certificates but it should not be recognised beyond imagination the way it is done now, at least equal attention should be giving to both because both are highly important.
