While Trump did stain the 250th anniversary of the USA by clearly implying draining the swamp of political corruption is not a substantial priority as your Epstien reference suggests, it retains top position for most freedom of speech overall, one of the bedrock freedoms we have as human beings. Furthermore, Trump's supreme court nominees have actually strengthened human rights overall in the USA, most clearly by acknowledging our gun ownership rights.
The preamble of the USA constitution is: "WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
The amendment option of the USA constitution enabled it to be quickly amended as it was, as to the what Liberty meant. That liberty as human rights and freedoms was a core of the 250 year trek and remains to this day. Socially the United States was and still remains a leader in protecting many social freedoms including the freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, the right to a fair trial and due process of law. When people talk positively about the USA and joining it's military, that is typically the focus. The USA also heavily participated in ending chattel slavery, not quite as the leading edge but as part of that pack of Christianity respecting nations who did take the lead.
The United States critically enabled a trend that continues to this day of decentralization of power described as democracy, though that term remains misunderstood. Some people say a Democracy is majority rule, but the most widely accepted definition is that democracy is rule by the people. Creators of Republics claim that to be the case.
The first 250 years of the USA were generally an economically the greatest economic success story in world history, but that did actually end in 1971 when the gold standard ended, with 1910 being the critical pivot point towards that end with the creation of the Federal Reserve central bank that is now emulated around the world as an economic menace and a globalist force against all those but the wealthiest elites founded in monopolistic leverage of the banking system as a secretive mix of government and private interests.
The USA was capitalist up until the 1930's under president Roosevelt as the New Deal, after which the USA converted to a mixed economy, ending its relative ascent of economic growth. After that point, it was no longer able to outperform other countries economic growth rates generally speaking. There is generally no such thing as "crony capitalism" in the USA in general because the USA isn't a capitalist country, but rather a mixed economy, including some amounts of capitalism, socialism, fascism, and communism. Our economic gains around the world are now from technology gains rather than healthy growth by respect of property rights, which are in decline around the world.
What we can do now is recognize the USA was a key stepping stone to understanding human liberties, and take the baton, moving forward to the next stage of those ideas. Starting with personal responsibility, we personally participate in solving problems, not voting them away but rather solving them our selves together. We must personally participate for human success at life, and do so in context of equal rights for all people. We must understand that we cannot vote to a delegate power that we do not our selves have. That is not really laid out in full by the USA constitution, but offers a further mission of liberty asserting people for the next 250 years for the USA people.
The right to not only have and property but use it, the right to travel, and the freedom of associations are all additional often unprotected rights we all have as human rights, and can start to protect by a superior unity of voluntary association.
