I think this kind of this is a matter of preferences.  The Bitcoin scenario is not completely the way @OP is stating it.  Anyone can still hold Bitcoin and be their own bank.  Even those involved in ETF investment still have the option to sell their ETF shares and Buy BTC themselves and hold BTC in their non-custodial wallet.

I am not included in those labeled "we" in the quoted statement, so I am not concerned at all.

The OP was just generalising using his thoughts or experiences. I am sure that I saw many posts where members on the forum spoke against the challenges that the spot Bitcoin ETF poses. So not everyone supported it. Currently, not everyone is supporting the proposals for nations to establish Bitcoin reserves.

Bitcoin is a decentralized currency which gives everyone the freedom to use it as they will. These centralised organisations cannot be stopped from stockpiling Bitcoin. But we have the freedom to use Bitcoin in decentralized forms. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy Bitcoin through centralized platforms. Therefore, we have nothing to worry about for now.

I feel OP said that based on his own observation, and how he feels about Bitcoin EFTs. He said all that from what he observed so far from Bitcoin. Holding is still possible and actively working for those who can wait long for it to mature.
It is not compulsory to rely on a centralized platforms like brokerages to buy Bitcoin but can be purchased directly from individuals through P2P service.

The question, "How did we get here?" shouldn't be directed at everyone. Maybe this question should be directed at those who would rather invest in ETFs or prefer to have their keys controlled by central authorities. "Why do they choose that over real bitcoins and self-custody?" They will give the right response, which will not be far from convenience.

It’s easy they can’t be their on bank and feel like there funds are secured with other parties, the most interesting thing is that bitcoin both you and the person looking to actually hold that bitcoin or be your own bank the same privileges and Freedom not like fiat which doesn’t gives freedom to those who wants to hodl anonymously a chance. Personally I would have actually wanted bitcoin to be only used for self custody alone but that doesn’t differentiates with me with centralized platforms or government who wants control over everything in their own way but nahh Satoshi wants everyone to have their freedom.

Personally I don’t think ETF changes much of a bitcoin ethics for me, what affects me from this, is bitcoin volatility reduction and that was definitely bond to happen because we were definitely expecting more holders in the future

We went from BE YOUR OWN BANK all the way down to ADD IT TO YOUR 401K
We went from HOLD YOUR OWN MONEY to LET BLACK ROCK DO THE HOLDING.
You still have a choice, and you're free to choose to keep your own keys. If someone else chooses something different, isn't that just part of the freedom Bitcoin offers? You can't expect Bitcoin to keep growing and not get regulated.

If anyone can look at my past post they will see that I am not one of those who keep Bitcoin anywhere else but my hardware wallet, I ditched trust wallet and others for a airgapped hardware wallet so I know what I am doing.

This topic is targeting people who really supported ETFs, I've noticed that many of em don't even know what Bitcoin Nodes and miners means, many of them don't even keep their Bitcoin themselves, which is making the decentralised part of Bitcoin shrinking.

I'm just been sarcasm using myself but I saw that no one even get the idea of maybe I am just terrible at creating topics and it's fine, there are people who thinks this way and who are buying Bitcoin without having a Bitcoin wallet, this is for them.

The problem with this type of sarcasm is: you can't really convey it to texts.
People will read it in tones that they deemed fitting and sarcasm~ish tone isn't the first option by the majority.

I, myself read most parts of the OP in serious tone yesterday (I rarely reply here) since there are even all-caps parts in it.
But there are parts that actually "looks" like sarcasm, TBF.
