Lets brainstorm on what the dream chain would look like. What features would you like to see from a hypothetical new chain? Would we want to go, nostalgic pow? I think with all the modern chains they all kind of offer something unique. Like, I really love solana's upgradeable "programs".

I'm working on something really radical right now that should shake things up or at least be interesting. It has been a while since anything interesting came out of this space, especially concerning L1 coins. I'm almost through production code/test suite now and will go through a lot of private testing before launching a public testnet.

What are the most important features you would look for? Or is it more about the trustworthiness of developers? The former is much easier to find, but the latter could at least be difficult to prove.

Now more and more people use cryptocurrency for fast and secure payments around the world.
Inspide of different sanctions in many countries many people prefer to use crytpocurrency than bank payments.
Cryptocurrency becomes more available for different payments around the world.

Honestly, the real-world usage doesn't look a ton different than when I left the space a few years ago. However, I guess it depends upon your time horizon.

There have to be enough of us OGs that we could all work together and dev something really cool. Memecoins and shit are cool to an extent and they kind of scratch the itch but I want to make something that really gives us all hope again. With people that know how to fucking hold longer than 30 seconds. Maybe its a pipe dream idk, but I really miss the 2013 era so much. Thats when everything felt exciting and progress wasnt paywalled to fuck and back.
Hahaha...Are you suggesting we create another rug pull??? Grin
Cos that's the only way we can get our money back in this flooded crypto space. If we aren't smart about it, investors would take it all off. You need to know that most of the coins/tokens that crashed had legitimate undertone, but for the reason that too many of them are being regularly created has messed the whole system up. A coin/token that would do well these days must have a very strong financial backings, publicity, strong community, and be ready to have trusted/viable utilities.

There are so many altcoins but not all of them useful.
Many altcoins do not have any practical use and just copy the most successful ones.
That is why it is very important to evaluate the potential of the coin to understand how it will be useful in the future.

That is an interesting theory but I still see tons of coins being launched with zero to no utility or new innovations. I can agree that the market is saturated so to speak.

Most if not all are not useful, they are bunch of noise and slop on X looking for liquidity and people theyncan drain but you know I'm not even concern about the people that launched the altcoins, I'm surprised by people who know altcoins have nothing to offer but they spend thousands of dollars to get them, we are just exchanging liquidity between each other looking for how to make money and end up losing everything in the process.

I don't think it's worst checking the market and you can see one project that is unique, whatever they are launching, that already existed in the market, there is no innovation, there is no creativity, we just stuck in one place circulating and launching the same garbage over and over repeatedly. The worst of them is meme coin, sometimes I see these coins as insult to crypto but I guess everyone loves them, even the exchanges love to list them that's why we don't progress.

In my view, eCash, as advocated by Paul Sztorc (https://ecash.com/), is exactly that dream chain. It combines all the advantages of Bitcoin while also allowing those advantages to be extended with features borrowed from any alternative chain.

The one thing I would probably want to change is the need to keep a full copy of the main blockchain on your own computer if you want complete financial independence. I have lived in a country where you can end up in prison simply for possessing prohibited information. And no one can be certain that a massive blockchain file will never contain information that is illegal somewhere.

I've been working on something for a few months and it works in simulation, the math seems correct, I've gotten help from AI, but I'm not a developer, I don't really know where to go from here. It's an idea I've had for years about an alt coin as more an economic protocol than just a coin or a simple value holder. Instead of an extractive design, for instance like Bitcoin, where one must have proof of work and extract from a block or transactions that are extractive, this uses the transaction itself as the method for minting tokens. You're rewarded for using the token not punished for it. You don't get rewarded for holding, but you're not punished if you do. It's an inverse design, I'm in whitepaper stage, you're welcome to take a look.

You explanation here said it all, that it's more of guessing and doing evaluation if any of them will be a little bit productive than being certain of the final outcome of it, that's why it's seen as more of gambling than investment, because after doing all that needs to be done, you can still invest in the wrong one and lose your hard earned money, so it's not a good idea to go all in when trying to take a risk on alt coin because they are not just reliable like Bitcoin. If you are hell bent on taking a risk on them, then it should be done with like 5% of your discretionary income, so that if as expected it fails, you wouldn't be troubled about it like when you go all in on it.

I have lived in a country where you can end up in prison simply for possessing prohibited information. And no one can be certain that a massive blockchain file will never contain information that is illegal somewhere.

The "eCash" mentioned here, is NOT the same as the "eCash" chain that forked off Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The former is listed under the ticker/symbol ECX, while the latter is under XEC. This will bring a lot of confusion among traders and investors alike. That's the problem with altcoins. Many scam projects or clones aiming to fool investors. With many of them being purely-speculative, it's no wonder why serious investors are moving away from alts.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin continues to obtain all of the attention. If we want a real return to altcoins, developers must focus on usability first. Not overhyping projects or solely caring about filling their pockets with money. There needs to be huge reform in the altcoins space. Hopefully, things will improve for the better in the future.

Good heads up you got here, but will people listen, especially that front quick profit first without considering what needed to done, of course  there are good Altcoins, we can name few, BNB, ETH, SOL ETC.

I do not have interest in Altcoins for now but I know about these Altcoins I listed to have proven that they can be invested on for a long-term, however, there are different Altcoins that needed to be studied especially for those that are interested in Altcoins, so that people don't go about wasting efforts and money, some investors are easily enticed by overhyped kind of garbage, which is not supposed to be so, since it has to do with money and investment.

There is literally nothing altcoins are doing now, the scaling solution are all useless, like the ideas on the paper and what they shipped are different from the promises they tell people investors. The ideas are not working, the new altcoins need to think outside the box, create something people can't do without, create products where people are going to see value in the next 10 years and the lies and lies they give all the time and runaway during the bear market.

If today you buy 20 coins, it does not guarantee that you are going to make return on the 20 altcoin investment. There is high chance of you losing everything you have on the coins than for you to make profit from them. This is the problem of altcoins in general. The trust people had in altcoins is declining and each and every day. Like it's easy to make money to short them than believe that if you buy them you are going to make money from them.

I have a pretty novel idea but I have to ship without instant finality and scaling for now. I did 25k lines of additional coding and changed everything from block reward algo, mining algo, units of divisibility, and I added MLDSA 65 sigs. I have changed so much consensus that I dare not change too much more before launch. I am doing private regtest right now over the next 2 weeks or so. Next will be a private testnet and then finally a public testnet once most of the fringe cases have been sorted out. Right now, some stale Bitcoin assumptions in the testing suite related to signatures is taking up most of my time. Sort of the plan is to get POW native instant finality because that's the thing that enables the scaling and then in phases work on scaling solutions.

I mean, isn't that like every investment? You can lose everything in stocks as well. You can also lose in real estate. There is no investment without at least some risk attached to it.

We have too many altcoins. So, it isn't so surprising if we have many scam altcoins. Besides of less creativity and competition matter, many altcoins are basically created to scam people. Just take a look at to many new memecoins, the developers even have no efforts to build the projects. They only advertise the projects, so many people buy the memecoins. After grabbing enough money from investors, the memecoin developers leave the projects.

You're right, many people have lost their money in altcoins. We must be very careful anytime we have the intention to invest in altcoins.
