FIFA is supporting their boy from Argentina and they will make sure they do anything possible to make sure that Argentina is going to win this year world cup competition. FIFA has been looking for ways to make sure that Ronaldo leave this tournament for Argentina and it happened,  now Argentina is going to be playing with Switzerland which I know that FIFA will do anything possible to make sure that Argentina wins the match against Switzerland whether through cheating or unallowed goal. Watch and see guys!

I believe Egypt fans not really happy and disappointed with the referee decision, disallow Egypt goal, not calling VAR when Mohamad Salah get fault in the Argentina penalty box and a lot of controversial did by the referee.

No one can argue that FIFA isn’t corrupt, there is so much controversy in this World Cup starting from FIFA overturning a red card to favor USA and most recently their obvious plan to ensure Argentina wins every match. I won’t be surprised if Argentina wins the World Cup even though they are not the best team in the competition. It’s all a ploy to favor FIFA’s favorite player, from the beginning, Argentina had “easy” low ranked opponents compared to the other big teams which made their progress relatively easier.

I think we should have created this thread long ago , So I am creating this thread to debate the current FIFA World Cup Controversy here. In games there will be always some controversy in Fans and defenders.

I am starting with the recent Game Argentina Vs Egypt

Since the game started a lots of controversy already made against Argentina that FIFA is favoring them. It's not different on yesterday game also.


Firs one is foul by Egypt where it was a soft foul and the goal from Egypt was dissmissed for this reason. 2nd one is from Argentina they didn't gave a foul to Argentina team while the player was in D-box .

According to IFAB Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct

Impeding the progress of an opponent without contact is not considered a foul if the defender winds the ball cleanly. But in that same law , if the defender has come into contact with the player, which causes a reckless tackle, challenge, and the player could have won the ball again, then it's considered a foul.
However, a referee interpreted that it was not a reckless action, so he did not consider it a foul. So why did they give a soft interaction a foul against Argentina, and it's a different scenario on behalf of Egypt?

I'm also very surprised by this, and it's not just the Argentina vs Egypt match that caused controversy. It was also the case in previous matches like Argentina vs Cape Verde, and even in Argentina vs Algeria. And if we look at the 2022 World Cup, there were also many controversies in matches played by Argentina, such as when Argentina played against the Netherlands, where a handball was clearly not given a card. So, currently, many people are questioning the neutrality or sportsmanship of the World Cup organizers regarding such matters, because such a victory is truly nothing to be proud of.

Yes, the decisions favored Argentina, and perhaps this could have changed the outcome of the match, but I wouldn't say it's impossible, because it sometimes happens in matches, even with VAR. Of course, Egyptian fans and the Egyptian team won't forgive FIFA for this; in fact, I've already seen that they've filed an appeal, hoping to get a decision in their favor. Of course, this will gradually fade away, and eventually, it will simply be forgotten. But throughout the championship, of course, there were mistakes, and they happen at every championship. I'd rather not get too bogged down in them, but continue to watch and follow Argentina. If there are more similar moments, it will make this championship terrible and completely unfair.

I agree that FIFA did many shits recently from expansion of World Cup to more teams, from 32 teams traditionally to 48 teams in World Cup 2026, and many weird decisions recently. They tend to care more about money, and their Association rather than national teams and players. Decisions of referee and assistant ones on the pitch and in VAR room were very shady and it's hard to believe that these mistakes appeared not only in the match of Argentina and Egypt. With all these things affected the match result, Egypt coach, players and fans have many reasons to think that something already planned to support Argentina.

It's like matches of South Korea against Italy and Spain in World Cup 2002. There were many criticisms and conspiracy theories but nobody could prove that, until years later we already knew how ugly that referee was. He was eventually imprisoned with his legal activities during his referee career.

Watching every pointed situations which happened so far, it's indeed not possible to deny FIFA uses a double edge sword when making their judgements. Several countries were prejudiced by FIFA's arbitrage, while others were favoured.

On the other hand, I don't think FIFA's interference was determing on the final outcomes. Argentina didn't win yesterday because they were benefited. They won because they played fiercely until the last minute of game. Egypt had 2 goals advantage, but let everything slip away in the end of the match, similarly to what Senegal did against Belgium.

Another example is a goal from Brazil which was nulled in the game against Scotland. They claimed Vini Jr. commited a foul before scoring the goal. Even though Brazil was prejudiced that day, it didn't change the fact they played much better and won the match anyway.

What I mean is that the determining factor will be always the performance of the teams on the field.

FIFA is doing things that are now making good jokes for them in this FIFA World Cup. Too many controversies happen that will be remembered for a long time, and other countries will try to follow them as they will be able to host this event because now everyone understands this can happen.
 
This last game surely has some things that are creating noise, and people are talking about the credibility of FIFA because a few decisions were not on merit, while now France vs. Morocco is also creating some things that will make more noise.

FIFA is one of the biggest sports organizations with enough things to manage, but they always make wrong decisions that make problems for them.

You definitely aren't alone in feeling this way. A lot of football fans are talking about the refereeing decisions and how the tournament brackets rolled out. The controversy with the USA red card being overturned got everyone talking, and it always feels suspicious when a massive team like Argentina gets a smoother path on paper compared to other giants.

I'm surprised that anyone is still surprised by this.

Firstly, at any tournament (even a fair one) you can find many questionable and controversial decisions; nothing is perfect.
Secondly, it's long been known that Argentina (or rather, its  leader in PR) is FIFA's favorite, and referees take this into account. I'll add another good example: in the first case, there wasn't even a yellow card, while in the second, it was a straight red:

FIFA Corruption, Argentina is FIFA's favorite team, undeniably so because Messi is like a god.

I've seen this happen for a long time, and it always benefits Argentina, many have protested, but the results are still unfair when this team plays, this isn't meant to be offensive, but that's just the way things are.

This World Cup has been full of controversy, let FIFA handle it.

The controversy surrounding partial judgement with the referee revolves around Argentina and their past two games against Cape Verde abd Egypt and without a doubt these controversies are valid. It is plausible when fans at the affected end complain about these issues and changes are not done.

I understand that the FIFA president is a big supporter of Messi and Argentina but it taints the credibility of FIFA when situations like this occur repeatedly with a single country. It is also safe to say that Argentina has not played a strong opponent that matches their standard in this World Cup just yet, is there something else we need to know about this?

If Argentina really is a weak football team, and its success is determined solely by the patronage of FIFA's leadership, then for fans this is certainly cause for outrage, but for gamblers it's a godsend! If all this is truly true, then all future events at the World Cup will be predictable in advance. And this will allow betting on winning outcomes. Perhaps this is an overly cynical view of the current situation, but it just occurred to me...💁

Your idea is interesting, but I think it's just a series of coincidences for Argentina. Seriously, those who think Messi is being dragged into the final for hype or other reasons, and that FIFA or someone else is behind it, why not just bet big on Argentina to win their next match against Switzerland? LOL. I don't think many will do that, although of course, the bettors will bear all the responsibility in that case. Personally, I'm generally abstaining from betting on Argentina in this tournament and prefer to look for more predictable situations. I'm really liking Norway, for example.

I don’t think it was a “mistake” by the referee or VAR. It’s evident that whatever training the referees did at the FIFA camp must have included a course on creative ways to favor Argentina in the World Cup. I have accepted that playing against Argentina is same as playing against FIFA, and if you managed to get a 2 nil lead, do your absolute best not to drop the ball.

Even with the VAR system, there’s always a margin of error in any situation involving people. Sometimes it’s the referees who determine the course of a game. In this World Cup, we’ve seen referees who let the game flow very smoothly, as well as those who blew the whistle for everything.

Besides, people usually don’t even need a specific issue to argue and debate. Most people, when rooting for their favorite team, automatically assume the other teams are in the wrong. Every team has had calls go both for and against them. That’s why I don’t think it makes sense to constantly dwell on these calls.

It's public knowledge that FIFA prefer some teams and players. Anyone who saw yesterday's game with objectivity knows that there were some calls that should have gone Egypt's way but wasn't given but then, if the call is meant for Argentina, it is given. Imo, Fifa figured that if they let the game continue as it was, that Argentina would've been eliminated yesterday. So they let a few calls that would've gone Egypt's way, didn't call the fouls then call the Argentina' s fouls. Those officiating decisions deeply provoke the Egypt team that has been so organized and everything just fell apart.
