Looks like addiction is really different. I do gamble regularly, but when I miss a day because I cannot gamble for whatever reason, that is always fine with me. I mean, I only feel hooked when I am already gambling, not when I cannot gamble.

Besides, gambling is available 24/7, so if I really wanted to, I could always find a way to gamble. But it is not something like a basic need where I would feel like I cannot live without it. So I am lucky that I do not have that kind of feeling, because for me, that means I am still mature enough when it comes to gambling.

Yes of course, i have felt the same way in several occasions that i can remember as a gambler and at end of day when all the matches results will be out, i will still end losing some of my tickets but the good part is that even with the way i felt, it hasn't lead me to be so addicted to gambling up to that extend of not being able to control myself emotionally or in such away to hold on and go for a break when i needed to, so i guess it is normal for any gambler to always felt the same way sometimes, not because such a gambler has reach the level of addiction in gambling.

I have been gambling for quite a while now but never have I ever felt this way.
I mostly used to gamble on the weekends only and so I would naturally avoid playing on the weekdays.
This way, I usually had minor gaps between my gambling sessions and hence it kept me in control.

I do not think individuals struggling with addiction can control this urge.
It is impossible for those with a gambling addiction to simply occupy themselves with other things. People in such situations absolutely need to seek treatment at healthcare facilities. While engaging in other activities might suppress the urge to gamble in the short term, it does not work in the long run.

The way responsible gamblers will control their urge to gamble is not the same way those under the influence of addiction will control their urge. The urge is stronger when one is addicted. Responsible gamblers have discipline and self-control, and they set boundaries, knowing when to start and when to walk away. While addicted gamblers are easily driven by the urge to gamble every single time they have free time. From my findings, they dont see gambling as a fun or periodic activity. Is this not an early signs gambling? I have never felt and I donl not pray to, whenever a gambler starts to feel this way, then there is a big problem that has to be faced squarely, I have come to know that some persons do not know that they are addicted even when the symptoms are clear.
How will a normal gambler feel that he has missed out an opportunity to win big just because he was unable to gamble in just few days, this is funny, has he been winning all other days he has been gambling? So staying off for just a day perhaps because he was busy is making him to think that he would have won if he'd gamble that day, the only can tell you is that, whoever said this, is either addicted or close to being addicted and should be advanced if possible.

To me, the best way to fight gambling addiction is self control. Alot of people do have this fear that they will miss out on big opportunity, even when  there is no real proof say that a particular day will be different from other days. So you see replacing gambling with another activity that is meaningful can really help, but such person needs to believe or accept that it's normal to miss some betting opportunities. So once someone understands that not every chance is supposed to be taken, it will gradually become more easier to make a better decision and control the urge.

You're addicted to anything that you don't have any control over and as a gambler if your day is not complete without gambling then you should know that you're heading to addiction and if it gets to a stage where you must gamble everyday by all means then you have become a complete addict. Addiction starts from cravings, when you are involved in important things like your work or chores and the thoughts of gambling keeps distracting you then you should seek for help if you cannot overcome the cravings to gamble first before you can find peace within yourself.

This feeling of feeling like one is missing out on some huge winnings any day he or she did not gamble is a kind of feeling that I personally believe is a general feeling for all addicted gamblers, myself is not addicted to gambling but I've lived with someone who was or is addicted to gambling before I packed and relocated.
And a couple of times, I shared with us on this forum how this dude will collect his salary and won't return home, by the time he's coming back in the night same day, he must have lost all the money he was paid as salary.

At a point, It all become too much I could not bear it any more because he was always begging for money, I decide to find out how I could help him begin to save, and this was when he revealed to me that he is always pained after losing his money, but he cant help himself, he said that when ever he doesn't have a penny on him, he bears, he can live comfortably without gambling but the moment money enters his hand, he will start feeling pressured, anxious to the extent that if he doesn't go and gamble, he might run mad with discomfort, it was a crazy experience and a really high level of gambling addiction..

I tried my best to help him the best I could before fate separated us, now, I don't know how he's doing..

The urge of feeling that you have missed gambling a particular day is because of the money you expect to win not because of missing the fun. So therefore, gambling for the sole purpose of making gain will always result in such feeling. An addict will always feel that way because the interest is to make profit. To have gambling as a source of income is the reason but if you gamble once in a while, you won't have such thought of missing out.

Is not every gambler that experience that kind of feeling accept those who are struggling with addiction, and you did mentioned that your friend is addicted to gambling, so you can expect a normal or responsible gambler to experience that. What makes some people to have that feeling is when they are willing to become rich through gambling means. This kind of thoughts can be control but it depends on the personality of the gambler and how well he prepared to fight against addiction. If the gambler is not partially ready to get rid of addiction it is actually going to be extremely difficult to overcome those thoughts or challenges and that can cause a gambler to lose a lots if appropriate care is not taken.

The feeling happens even with trading. I experienced it quite often and would get super depressed if I did not trade a coin and it ended up pumping. Your friend can try to fight that addiction by trying to get busy with his job or other hobbies that take up his time. He will start thinking less and less about gambling, and his addiction will probably drop. Also, he should channel the month he gets to other important projects and investments. I can agree with your suspicion in mirroring how gambling addiction thinks and which has always kept them in mirage in their continuous struggle to break-even for a win.

Addiction is actually a mental problem that has to do with satisfaction of a triggering urge and any time you're not able to meet it up it feels to you as though you're missing out on something very important that could have made a difference for you - for gambling it's li you would be missing what may be  your lucky day.

It's like he doesn't know he's being one yet because if he does know what he's in for, he will think of a way out to get himself out of such thought. of feeling each day he didn't gamble, he would feel as if he were losing something.

Correct, and in my case I never feel that FOMO because I'm aware that bets can be made every day, and we must let go the vast majority of them. Besides, when something like this happens, I always think that there is nothing to ensure that if I had made the decision to bet the result would have been the same. We'll never be able to know, so investing effort in thinking about it seems like a waste of time and energy that goes against my philosophy that bets should be used for fun in the first place.

You shouldn't expect much positive attitude to gambling from an addicted person, they don't have control of their own over their gambling desires. Betting everyday is never a welcome development by me, There is nothing to miss because you didn't bet for a day. The only time I consider it that I'm missing something for not gambling is when I have forecasted a game and is unable to place it due to busy schedule or unavailability of internet with respect to my location. I have met people who cannot stay if they don't gamble everyday and not that if they gamble they actually win, but the desire to gamble is greater than their will power to control themselves.
