Governor Fubara, who presented the budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the Martin Amaewhule's led Assembly on Friday, tagged it as a “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.” Addressing the lawmakers, Governor Fubara said the budget was designed to consolidate the gains of his administration in infrastructure development, human capital advancement, security and economic growth, while ensuring fiscal discipline and accountability in the management of public resources.

I think the governor of Rivers State Sir Siminalayi Fubara has really done well in his rulership as Rivers State governor despite the challenges he encountered both in the past, and at present.
In his rulership, civil servants were promoted, and their salary is also increased, pensioners, and retirees whose entitlement were denied he paid them all, and he also settled dept that was incured by the past government.

At present, many infrastructural development are going on within the state, and in various local government area.
There may not be perfection in his leadership, but considering what he has achieved since the inception of his tenure, he is a governor that deserves accolade.

In my own point of view, considering his achievement since he assumed office as a governor, and despite the challenges he encountered, I so much believe that this budget will be well utilized by the Rivers State governor Siminalayi Fubara if approved by the Rivers State national assembly.

Nigeria politicians are wasteful, a budget of 1.85trn hmmmm, what debts is the governor still paying after 3years in office? The entire allocations that come into Rivers state monthly and the internally generated revenue what was the money used for that he is still talking about debt? i can’t remember when last governor Fubara commission any project. Year in year out we keep on hearing of huge budgets and huge debt accumulated from borrowed funds but yet nothing to show for it, up till now Nigeria as a whole doesn’t even have a standard world class stadium not to talk of roads, security, good healthcare, electricity etc, see how dirty Rivers state is currently with lots of thugs masquerading around, sometimes i even wonder if the state has a governor, yet see the kind of huge budget that is being proposed, before you know it the assembly will approve it as long as the governor will settle them out of the money and at the end the masses won’t experience any notable change.

I am bot really going to talk much about the budget that Governor Fubara has just presented to the state house of assembly,  but I will talk more about his governance.  I really think he is a Governor that has the people at heart, but he faced too many challenges and he could not achieve much as he has hoped too. I really got the ground running,  but it slowed down when the challenges keeps coming.  Concerning the budget I said I was not really going to talk about it, because I know that the budget is going to be approved by the state house of assembly,  but I think most of the money will not be used to better the lives of the people in the state, because his predecessor Wike will definitely take a huge chunk of the budget for himself. I will not blame the governor,  because I think he has been cornered by the FCT minister and there is nothing he can do at this point.

Its normal in the lifes of all Nigeria politicians both big and small so I don't see any reasons criticising his devilish decision to finish what he didn't do for years after all during the state of emergency time, the allocated fund for project was stolen and shared between the engineers responsible for it and a single question was not asked till today.
Both its unfair seeing how Nigeria leaders steal and convert public money because of greed and there conscience never for once disturb them. One question I don’t think any of them have answered till now is, don't they have eyes to see what leaders in the western world are doing in there countries.

The governor of Rivers State Similaye Fubara, didn't present 2026 budget to Rivers Assembly because he wants to embezzle it since he won't rule Rivers people for a second term, Similaye needs money to run the affairs of Rivers State, and the only way for him to have access to such money is to present a budget to the Rivers Assembly for them to examine it, if they are okay with it they will approve it, and the money will be disburse to him to start executing the projects he has for Rivers people. Similaye is a good governor, he would have work for his people, but Wike greediness couldn't allow him to function very well. I believe Similaye will use the Rivers State 2026 budget for what the budget is meant for regardless of his situation.

The governor of Rivers State is a good leader despite the fact that the minister of the federal capital territory Nyesom Wike don't allow him to govern the state and he was rulling the state under him, he would have done more than he has if he was allowed by his godfather to rule and that's one of the factors affecting our contemporary society and politics today because once you have been handpicked and given a political position the person that handpicked you will be the one to give you orders on what to do and where you go and it's really affecting infrastructural development that might have been carried out by the individual.

But I think the amount that was presented to the house of assembly is outrageous and that can only come from someone who wants to embezzle public funds since he has been deprived of his second tenure so he just wants to use that means to settle himself and his godfather Nyesom Wike.

In my opinion, the money is not a big deal as long as it will be spent accordingly as it was stated in the budget. The governor has less than a year to be in office probably this would be his last budget he will present to the house,the next budget maybe presented to the house by the next incumbent Governor. The governor can't just embezzle money from the budget because every penny of what he will spend using that money has already been stated in the budget. And if at the end of his tenure, he didn't use the money exactly how it is stated in the budget,he will be arrested for fraud by the EFcc. So the governor has to be careful because if doesn't use the money as it's planned in the budget he will be in trouble.

No be wetin most of our government they do? I don’t see how they will budget money without taking a loan. For my state like this, our governor dey always makes it clear before he does anything to fix the problem,he will borrow this amount to do this and at the end una no go see any better project that worth the amount of money he borrowed. To me, I none of them dey different for my eyes, whatever they are doing at this point is for their own benefit, because they still have another chance of four years.

The system is run on basis of not being accountable to the resources or statements of accounts after a tenure is completed because if that was done with all seriousness some of the money they allocate for their personal use won't be embezzle unnoticed and given proper account of how those monies were used and that is the more reason they get away with what they do because no one cares to hold them accountable for their actions and performances while in office.

No leader has ever rule with the intention of helping the masses or making positive changes that will be remembered after he leaves office expect few, all they do is to embezzle public funds and leave without creating employment opportunities for the Youths that are graduating every year, my advice to the Youths is to learn a skill after graduation so they can earn a living from it since the government is not employing them.

When I first saw the news, I burst into laugh. Imagine they budget such amounts, that is worst lies I ever heard from these politicians. They have no other choice to cover their pockets, they are using the names of Mosque and churches to cover their bad behaviors. A politician can come to a mosque or church to support with some amount to help for renovations, but saying that federal government budget that huge amounts of money. That one really go far.

Or have churches and mosque now turn to factories that government now take it upon their responsibility to now borrow money just to renovate it? Because it seems the guy who said that the average Nigerian is an "Olodo" was actually right, because this is a total definition of Olodo in display by those in high authorities. Well said, it is obvious that the governor didn’t do his calculations well, though am not surprised that everything ended this way because right from the onset Fubara was never a politician, worst of it all is that he surrounded himself with younger politicians like Oko Jumbo, Edison Ehie etc who felt that every was more about social media noise.

If Fubara was a wise politician he would have at least waited for the second tenure before starting most of his moves, at least by then he would have gained more grounds against Wike and possibly bought some house of assembly members to himself but he failed in all his calculations, he didn’t even have a good relationship with Tinubu it was later when it was too late that he wanted to amend things. The issue of the budget rumors have it that Wike feels that if it is approved that Fubara might decamp to another party and use the money to sponsor his re-election in another party or that of a candidate of his choice from another party that is why i feel the approval is being delayed, they might approve it probably very close to election when he can’t be a threat to Wike again.

That is why i keep on saying that Fubara was not a politician from the onset else he won’t be scared of anyone or any treat as a seating governor, politics in Nigeria has always been a dirty game hence anyone coming in for it should be ready knowing what is involved, i won’t want to accept any excuse for Fubara’s failure because he had all what it takes as a seating governor to defeat his adversaries, see how the Osun governor Adeleke struggled to win his seat despite all the intimidations so why will Fubara own be different? Why Fubara own ended this way is because he didn’t pay the price for the position, it was Wike that fought for the position and gave to him so he doesn’t know the value of the governorship and can afford to lose it.

Now his actions are currently costing the citizens in the state a lot of setbacks, the state roads are seriously going bad on daily basis, refuge is littered everywhere as if the state is a dustbin, agbero (touts) are roaming everywhere stealing and extorting money from people etc just because governor Fubara choose to give up, Rivers state have never gotten it so bad like this in terms of governance.

The system has always been if you can't win them you join, fubara realize he can't win but joining them , many lessons to learn about fubara is to avoid starting what you can't finish because it will be a wasted efforts, time and energy and resources also, secondly to fight your master is dangerous mostly when you have not master all the secret of your master, in today many able politicians in Rivers state have loss their life position and dream because of the fight, going back to your vomit is very bad he who fight and run away would have been the best if the governor has the integrity enough to prove himself, politics is all about self because fubara have more than enough to even quit than join back the cartel now his presenting budget according to the choice of what they demand rather than what the people want, all of this big figure are nothing but embezzlement fund which may be targeted on the up coming election.
