FC Porto 1-0 Torreense
Porto won by just one goal. But many expected more goals, but they weren't able to score. Actually, Torreense did a good job and forced Porto to defend a lot.
Another interesting point is that with this victory and the conquest of this Cup, Porto became the Portuguese club with the most titles/cups in Portugal. It ended up with 88 official titles, compared to Benfica's 87.
With three more national competitions underway this season, will Benfica manage to overtake Porto again, or will Porto gain the upper hand? We'll see at the end of the season.
88 vs 87 title calculation is certainly important from psychological point of view, I know that.
But it would not be right to give it too much importance as a prediction of the strength of entire season.
Another thing is winning cup and winning league are not identical thing. In small knockout game, you will notice a lot of variance.
But in league, your squad depth and consistency can make the difference in long run.
And I don't see 1-0 win very negatively. Big team often want to secure the result with minimum effort in preseason or at the beginning of season. Because their intent is only trophy, they don't bother much about scoreline.
