Big number, hard to even conceptualize. However, the folks who are operating this debt are the ones that made it. And they continue to be re-elected or replaced by individuals who do exactly the same thing. The cycle goes on and on, as the incentive system creates a disincentive to long-term discipline and a reward to short-term spending. No politician wins elections by saying "we need to cut your benefits".

Pay attention to what is happening in the present moment. NATO countries moving towards 5% GDP of defense. China with its local government debt problem, as a result of a property bubble which they have been aware of for years and politically unable to burst. Japan at 200% debt to GDP and still getting things done. This may be the most perplexing fact in contemporary economics. All of the big economies are living on borrowed time and borrowed capital.

Throughout all of human history, every time a government got into this kind of fiscal hole, they did the same thing. Debase the currency. Rome did it with coins. All modern countries have their counterparts, printers and central banks. The playbook has not evolved over the past two-thousand years, just the equipment has improved.

So yeah, buying Bitcoin makes sense to me. It is the first asset in history where the supply rules will not be altered by a poor fiscal quarter. Not something that can be taken for granted. In a world where every government's answer to debt is "make more money", owning something they literally cannot make more of is seemly ogical.

Global debts reached historic levels of 320 trillion, this growth was caused by pandemic, military spending.
I would like to add corruption as a reason why global debt has increased because our leaders lack accountability, especially from my side of the world, where our government tends to borrow to execute projects that they end up not finishing. That is, our government borrows to embezzle the money and impoverish the country more, putting us more in debt than we were before.

Unfortunately this increasing debt does not scare the government but only scares us, the citizens, because we understand that to finance this, the government will find means to increase taxation upon us to pay for a loan that we did not in any way benefit from.
Agreed. Borrowing isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as the money is used to improve the country. What's scary is when the government keeps borrowing but doesn't use the funds for their intended purpose and they just end up being plundered.

That's how I see it in my country. Our national budget keeps increasing every year, yet I don't see or feel much improvement. The government continues to borrow from different countries and institutions like the World Bank, but I don't see anything that truly makes life easier for ordinary people. Instead, it just keeps getting harder. The only ones who seem to be improving are the politicians and their pockets.

Global debts reached historic levels of 320 trillion, this growth was caused by pandemic, military spending. The debt of United States, China and Japan concentrate the biggest debts. The power and the accountability that we gave to the government to administrate our tax money never was in worse hands, with the irresponsibility of our rulers causing inflation, decreasing the population's purchase power, increasing poverty and social inequality, to solve this the government always print money. And increase the debt.

There's no two ways about it and I can't personally agree that the national debts raises due to the expenses affirmation and the cause of the events that the governments have to make all that extravagant budgets on the pandemics, military and the rest doesn't just happen naturally.
Most of the disasterous occurrences like war and pandemics are majorly architecture by the same governments or those in the ruling power. Then the consequences of such unproductive expenses will always result to hyper inflation.
The more the government borrows and spends unproductively and the central banks keep printing more money unjustly, so the fiats losses its purchase and so on inflation rises.

This is true, they're not going to play most of their debts because they're only paying it as well with debt and the interest. I doubt that they'll be paying it in full.
Countries around the world are only paying the interest, enough to keep the country running. I bet 9 out of 10 politicians don't even think about paying off principle but thinking of raising the debt to GDP ratio because that means new rolex and lamborghini.
It will only become dangerous if the interest is eating huge chunk of the GDP because at that point the country is near to bankruptcy but I also doubt most politician even give a damn.

That my opinion, I like to know your opinion about the subject.

If you are in worries because of your country's debt then you are just suffering yourself, it's meant to be like that, I mean that debt is meant to exist because of some reasons that someone who isn't into politics can never understand, I will give you my own point why this debt is necessary to exist.

1. Do you know that debt is what the government use to stabilise the economy during recession? I bet you don't know.
2. Government borrows against future revenue to avoid disruptive tax hikes, I bet you don't know this either.
3. Public debts isn't financial burden on a country per say, it acts as a macroeconomic tool when used strategically.

Your own center of view is normal as someone who isn't into politics, they have no idea how the country runs.

The largest countries hold the largest debts. There isn't a single country in the world without debt. The economic system is in such a terrible state; it saddles every country and every individual with debt. There is no solution to this, as the current economic system is built entirely on debt. Had countries purchased Bitcoin early on, it could have been a smart move to reduce their debt—and they could still do so. However, a Bitcoin investment alone won't be enough to pay off these debts.

Rising amount of government debt does not automatically make Bitcoin the only solution or it is the only intelligent solution that is this present and I also do not agree with this, there are governments who do excessive bowrowing and they have poor fiscal management that is contributing to the inflation and also making their economy un stable so that is not sign of failed economy or it is not assign of failure, governments often borrow to finance their nfrastructure or to finance their education systems there are countries who do borowing to make their economy stable during the time of extreme crisis like pandemic the main problem is how the debt is used and how it will be returned over the time Bitcoin is very volatile and it is not a good solution for a country, so a country should have better governance and transparents spending on the single assets they should have responsible debt management system who can address the challenges related to it.

Almost everyone is in debt at the moment, families, school children, housing debt and medical debts. It is indeed a big issue.

I believe this has to do with a shift in some policies, like from the social policies the way it used to be way before. It is also  my believe that the government's are not doing enough to keep the average person in the labour market since all they care is about seeing prices going higher and increasing. The minimum wage standardised by the government's is also not enough so these people go out to take loans to  meet up. It is my believe yet that there should be a shift to how it was before.

The dept of countries will continue to rise and increase, this is a deliberate attempt by governments all over the world to make sure that, they have full control of their citizens. Dept is one of the main causes of inflation as countries take depts from the world Bank and even the IMF these organizations pressure their countries to devaluing their currencies. In so doing these countries causes more Inflation and this is to the advantage of these international bodies, world Bank and the international monetary funds give out loans to countries they don't even care to ask what these countries do with these money, what they are more interested in is their profit at the end of the day.

If a country is under huge debt then significant portion of annual budget of that country goes for repayment of foreign loans and interest. If a country want to progress then first thing they need to do is stop taking loans from institutes like IMF and must rely on their own resources to generate income. That is the only way to progress in the long term. Now if we talk about countries that are continuously taking loans but there financial condition is not improving, then they are the one where government is corrupt and they use loan for their own benefit not for their country.

Global debt will inevitably bubble up which we don't know what effect if it happens in real terms because we haven't experienced it yet because now it should be bigger than in 2008 or 98 in Asia, countries that have debt, maybe hyper inflation will not be missed and our fiat will be destroyed.

Bitcoin can be a solution for most people who have entered into it, and in fact we can use other assets as an additional alternative if we want to diversify assets to be much safer.

The problem we will always have and will remain and keep causing inflation is that the government are still printing money, the debt is high and they print money to cover a lot of things, and the rate at which money is being printed, the money lose value that’s why inflation has always been the problem and solving it has been a very hard problem because the government are already in debt and they will have to pay for other things, going for more debt will not be the solution rather it is better to print more money to solve the problem temporarily and not permanent because the debt is there and will keep affecting the progress of the nations until being paid completely.

Only countries with good governance and technical knowledge to create things to export will be better and have less debt, but even if they are creating things like cars and so on, if the governments not good enough to manage their finance, the country’s debt will continue to grow.

Thank God you vividly outlined  the constant increment of debts as a deliberate actions of leaders in other to enslave citizens and enrich themselves all in the name of developmental loans.
Among all the countries the once that gives me serious attention and consign is that of African countries especially Nigeria,  this loans are taken and cannot be accounted for because this loans are not used for any developmental projects as there revenues can help solve there problems if properly managed.
There leaders gets richer day by day while the masses keeps suffering just because of corruption that is considered a cultural practice over there.

I know a lot of people often say this, but buying Bitcoin with your money isn't always a direct solution to problems such as inflation and devaluation of fiat currencies at present, because when you buy Bitcoin, it is not that you are going to get profits immediately, but you can get profits over time and it can take years for that to happen. This simply means that you are buying Bitcoin from your money right now to save yourself from inflation, and then you are getting your profits after years. That is not how you deal with problems that are available in the present time.

When it comes to devaluation of fiat currencies, then one can surely say that if you invest your money in an asset that grows in value over time, you might be safe from your money losing purchasing power because your country's economy is collapsing slowly and that is making the currency lose value. However, this is also not an immediate solution. Who knows? You might not be in the same situation in the future, you might not even be living in the same country.

No matter how huge the national debt becomes, its growth will continue. Because this financial system does not provide for any other way of existence. Accordingly, inflation will only increase over time, as this allows the debt to devalue and reduce the cost of servicing it. And this will continue until another system replaces the current financial system (if it happens at all).

That my opinion, I like to know your opinion about the subject.

My view is that you don’t understand what this is all about. Rising debt is only to be expected; it is an inevitable consequence of the fiat system, where money is created out of thin air as debt, and interest – which doesn’t actually exist either – must be added to that debt in order to repay it. So, in the medium to long term, there are only two alternatives: widespread bankruptcies, or continuing to refinance as if there were no tomorrow, creating more debt-money. Politicians opt for the latter, as is to be expected.

In reality, what’s happening is that debt just keeps on expanding, whilst at the same time money is becoming worth less and less, so panicking isn’t a very sensible thing to do.

Exactly on point with the answer, the modern economy is based on debt, the servicing and other thing has already been taken into account and solved through inflation.
Interest rate barely above the inflation is not without a reason, expecting debt to be cleared while living on debt based modern economy is naive. Everything is working as expected.

Collectively, it's somewhat the ones who are running the country who are responsible for this. We have to look at it in a bigger picture.

It shouldn't just be debt that we need to check but also the GDP, because checking debt alone (the value of it alone) wouldn't really tell the whole story because there are a lot of countries that can handle large debt.

The question is, how can countries outpace debt and make it manageable? I think that's a better question.

Buy Bitcoin is not just a act of resistance to all this, is a act of intelligence.

That my opinion, I like to know your opinion about the subject.
Are the government buying Bitcoin? and if they are doing so, what is their goal? is it meant to reduce their extent of borrowing? most national borrowing are gradually becoming a routine without an actual knowledge on what it is being spent on. especially for some of the third world countries that borrows for consumption, buying bitcoin will not solve their borrowing crisis.

Most of those that are at the head of affairs' and that approves these borrowing don't even seek for a better means of running her economy outside of foreign help. before most of them will even think towards bitcoin, we will first see them being intentional about running her economy without over reliance on external help.

Buying Bitcoin does not save you from debt. It does not save you from inflation. Bitcoin isn't a solution for countries to pay back the huge debt they owe. The resources and foreign trade are enough to cover that debt. However, the debt keeps increasing because the leaders dont care about the debt. All they care about is what they can gain within the 4 years they have to rule. Knowing fully well that the debt will be left for the next leader that comes in. Eventually, when the next leader comes in, he doesnt care about the debt either. That's how countries keep owning generational debt that can never be paid.
