I do not care about new blockchains, it might be good, it might be bad. But I wonder, if today stablecoins came out, would people really react the same way? Like how is the marketing for those stablecoins were even made, how did they convince people?

Did really someone came up and said "hey, give me your real dollars, and I will give you fake dollars that will be considered as dollars in the crypto world, I keep the real ones, you keep the fake ones, deal?" and people accepted it and it reached hundreds of billions in size.

I wonder if they can do it today too, but I never understood how that even got any traction.

Marketing? Stablecoins don't really need marketing, as they aren't building a project. They are existing project on existing blockchains. They are not bought for speculation in same way that altcoins are.

When USDT came along, it was first real hedge for unregulated exchanges to use for trading, and alternative against real fiat money. Stablecoins didn't have same kind of regulatory baggage that trading against fiat money had.

Before that it was mainly litecoin and btc pairs against rest of the altcoins. So you weren't really safe during a bitcoin bear market before stablecoins. And criticism against tether was fierce, because it stood against the whole cypherpunk ethos. Not to mention that no one really trust it would stay alive for long.

thanks for all of replies. I just got so many good insights from this discussion which actually were eye opening. I personally think the main efforts will be put on another project and not a whole new chain. Although I still may consider developing a chain as a hobby project of mine.

you really need to use a new blockchain or you can just use another one (stable and maybe with a better ratio cost benefit)?
you have all competencies and funds required for a new project like this?

There is nothing that can be superior to bitcoin as "blockchain".
Despite you can improve some of the final aspects like speed or number of transactions, you will never beat what has been already deployed and tested.

unless you have a specific idea or something that could really bring an improvement there is no reason to develop a new blockchain.
I would say... a waste of time can already be an opinion? Most of small projects can already use what has been deployed.
Even big projects could focus their effort and achieve better results by developing the real product and not ... a blockchain.

So if a new blockchain is being announced today, how would it be in your mind? Which features it could offer none of the others could offer yet? It can be anything. Like low fees on TRON or TON or ideas such as smart contracts which became real when Ethereum announced.
Doesn't really matter, for me it is not about the blockchain itself, but how people would like to use it. First of all, fi nobody wants to use it then it could be the greatest blockchain in the world and I would not use it too, because I only use things that others use.

Secondly, if it's used in a bad way, that I dislike, like XRP or Monero and what not, then I would avoid that too no matter how many people use it, I am not against them, it's fine, use it however you desire, I just won't do it personally. So that means, for a blockchain to be created and for me to use it, it has to be used by a lot of people, loved by a lot of people, and need to be not a risky dangerous thing and has to be decentralized as well.
