Good initiative @nutildah.

I think it makes perfect sense for appeals to be made in a single location. It is up to each targeted member to use the resources available to them in a clear and transparent manner.

It would be interesting to have the details of how the whole process works.

I am not saying this is a bad initiative, but when is the last time you ever heard anyone got a signature ban in this forum?
It doesn't happen very often, or at least it is not publicly revealed, and mostly it is done for good reasons, and for established forum members.

The last time someone was banned from displaying singature was less than 24 hours ago.
Just see the table posted by bangjoe.

It doesn't happen very often,
It will probably happen more often in the future.

or at least it is not publicly revealed
Isn't modlog available to everyone?

and for established forum members.
None of the users who were sigbanned recently were stablished members.

Did you read the replies posted this thread?
I may be wrong, but I feel you didn't get the point of this topic.

Signature bans used to be a "soft ban" for established members: when an established member got caught with plagiarism, their ban could be replaced for a signature ban (which could last several years).
Now it's a more frequent solution for signature spammers.

Hello nutildah, I hope you are doing well.

I would like to respectfully appeal my recent signature ban.

Sir I sincerely apologize if I unintentionally broke any new rules or if any of my posts did not meet the expected standards it's was never my intention. I have carefully read all the reasons for signature bans and i understand these standards and fully respect them.

I respectfully believe my case may have been assessed incorrectly. As I always try to make meaningful and relevant posts contributions. I'm stay active throughout the week rather than making burst posts. To the best of my knowledge I have never intentionally violated these posting standards.

I request that you review a couple of my recent posts:

Recent Post 1: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168386.msg66962904#msg66962904

Recent Post 2: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1135451.msg66965127#msg66965127

Recent Post 3: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168386.msg66964920#msg66964920

I believe these posts were made with the intention of improvement my posting habits.

I humbly request to you would consider removing my signature ban and giving me another chance. I would be very grateful for the opportunity. I assure you that I will be even more careful with my future posts. Whatever your decision made I will respect and accept it. I knew that, and that was why I used the word "recently" in my sentence.
dkbit98 said "It doesn't happen very often, or at least it is not publicly revealed, and mostly it is done for good reasons, and for established forum members.". This statement suggests that this is still the case now and only established members can get sigbanned.

I welcome this type of move as it will do a great good to the forum in terms of quality of post that will be on the forum. How ever I believe that the threads did not give a clear guideline when it comes to the type of post or comments that are not up to standard. What I mean is that there are actually comments that are small but makes sense, as it passes a clear and good message. In the same way there maybe lengthy comments that make no sense.

This is a good initiative; no doubt it can really help to reduce the spam ratio on this forum and also hunt down those who are misusing this forum by creating multiple accounts. At the same time, and to be very honest, your point is very valid here as i also have seen many posts that only contains some words, single lines or maybe two but those post still contains strong massages but at the same time there are many and a lot of posts that contain zero semantic load and information, but they are lengthy. And in the same case, the situation can be opposite as well. Then I think this can be a difficult thing to evaluate the right decision at the same time before banning any account signature space. Well, this is my personal point of view. Thank you!

I request that you review a couple of my recent posts:

Recent Post 1: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168386.msg66962904#msg66962904

Alright, that is a fair request. Like I said in the PM, you seem like a nice guy, but your writing skills need a lot of improvement.

The goal is not to shame anybody but provide a learning experience so everybody can understand why certain posting habits may be considered "substandard." And if they disagree, this is the perfect place to do it.

This is a post requested for review:

Sadly, I lost my bet on India in the 3rd ODI. The 3rd ODI game between England and India was almost a historic game because the first time at Lord's ground seven forty seven runs can be considered before it in many games high score target was seen but this time from both opponents three fifty plus runs can scored and in last decade during Pakistan and England game total seven sixty runs can be seen so the reason of this high score is mainly the weather conditions and also the flat pitch so due to these circumstances ball doesn't sim and swing properly that's why both team's top order played well especially Ben Ducket make history of individual high scorer by putting iconic knock of one forty one runs and also legendary knock of one thirty eight runs played by Rohit Sharma. So at the end the Indian tour of England was highly successful for England because they won both ODI and T20I series and for India the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer was on stack.

There's a few problems here:

1. Your 2nd sentence is way, way too long. Its extremely hard for anybody to follow what you're saying because there are no breaks (this is called a "run on sentence").

2. In your 3rd sentence, you unnecessarily repeat words which makes what you're saying more confusing. This does occasionally happen with most people.

3. The content you are providing (a description of an India/England cricket match) had been previously provided at least 8 times before you gave your own take on it. This by itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, but because its not a decently-written take, its hard to argue your post adds any value to the conversation.

Your spelling is perfect, that's a positive. I'm guessing you at least run a spell check. But I don't think I'm alone in saying a post like this _might_ be considered "substandard."

The real problem is you have hundreds of posts just like this. My recommendation is to take this time to work on improving your writing skills.

Does an account deserve to continue wearing a signature if it doesn't post at all while sigbanned? That makes it obvious they're only here to promote their signature.
Although it depends on the person who is issuing the signature ban, it probably should extend the sign ban until the banned user becomes a regular poster. It would like to make 5 posts weekly based and at least two week should active per month or something similar to the minimal standard. If someone becomes inactive after getting a signature ban, that probably means he is an account farmer, and he doesn't care about the ban since he has many more accounts.

However, that's good, theymos giving that sign-banning power to users similar to merit sources. But we might see some drama as well, the same as about the trust system. Also, the ban issuer should make sure the user really deserves the signature ban to avoid controversy.

So far I realize this is the thread to appeal the sign ban; those only have gotten from the nutildah. Hope this initiative will work well. Well done, Nutildah.

For those wondering how it works, I will make the process of signature ban candidate selection a little clearer and more transparent in the next couple days.
Be careful not to give away too much information (to spammers).

But why? The reason why there’s a signature ban is to clear the forum from spammers. Forcing them to improve just to avoid being banned makes this movement already served its purpose.

Do you preferred banning instead of improving? There’s no guarantee that this spammer will stop creating new account or use their other account. Consistently banning is just a band aid solution instead of motivating them to improve posting. It’s probably the reason why @Nutilda mentioned a potential to justify the ban after an improvement was made.

This improvement will push farmer to focus on few accounts to improve their post quality.

What LoyceV mean simply put is that, if he gives complete clearance on the ban and unban terms spammers will probably best around the terms or information that is give out and will not make the mistakes that leads to signature ban but however even if they escape signature ban for a moment an abuser will always implicate themselves.

Furthermore, too information shouldn’t be given but clearance is good. He just said be careful not to give too much information.

I just made a glance through the thread and I must say that I highly commend you on your efforts in trying to educate people on the proper use of English grammar on this forum. Which is actually nice. However, when it comes to @Farhan99 case, I think I have a perfect solution to help him in his challenge of the proper use of English grammar, punctuations and spelling. So I will like to suggest if @Farhan99 can download and install "Grammarly app" on his device from either Play Store or Apple Store, it will be of good assistance to helping him compose a better sentence. Thanks

First of all, I'd like to say that I really like this initiative, so thanks to Nutildah for taking the time to come up with ways to keep the forums overall quality high. I think its good for everyone, and it helps separate people who genuinely want to contribute from those who are only here for the money.

That said, I also think post quality is often subjective as what one person considers a quality post may not be seen the same way by someone else. Personally, I wouldnt have considered some of the posts mentioned here to be low quality.

In our team, we actually have one person whose job is to review and rate posts from the perspective of someone who is not deeply involved in cryptos, blockchain or even in gambling. We do that because those of us who work in these areas every day can sometimes lose sight of what an average reader finds interesting or valuable and having that different perspective helps us better understand what actually resonates with a broader audience.

At the end of the day I think this initiative is a step in the right direction. As long as its applied fairly and consistently, I'm sure it will help improve the overall quality of the forum while still encouraging people who are making a genuine effort to contribute.

Based on their signatures (1, 2, 3, 4), I think they were banned 4-5 days ago. Usually, shitposters stop posting the moment their signature gets banned, but all 4 of them are still posting! If they would be human, they'd realize their signature is gone. Are they all bots?

It's possible that this company (and some others) bought a bunch of BTT accounts which they then used for self-promotion on this forum. These accounts are probably part of a bot network that is operated from one of the horrible places that exist in Cambodia where tens of thousands of people are forced to work in various online scams.

I believe I dont need to remind you that making false accusations can have serious legal consequences, right?

I'd encourage you to be more careful about the claims you make online, especially when they're based on assumptions rather than verifiable facts. Its important to distinguish speculation from evidence before making statements that could harm someone elses or, in this case, a company reputation
