Of course this has already generated controversies and many people thinks that the claims from the governor was made to try to cover up the real intentions.
For me before a software can be put to use in a voting system it should have gone through all checks to ensure it is going to serve the general public effectively, the registration of over 6000 non citizen is a huge mistake if it was actually the case.

This kind of allegation is not suppose to be taken likely because elections depends heavily on public trust. If the software really allows thousands of ineligible to register, then such system needs independent investigation to show exactly where the mistake happened or came from. Meanwhile, people too should not rush into conclusion saying that the error is deliberate without a clear proof. Be it software problems, poor verification or human error, the authorities need to be transparent and explain what really happened.

For me, I will say that any technology that they want to use in election must pass through serious testing and routine inspections because with a little error in voting system can cause damage to public confidence and raise serious concern. And again I will say that we should also make sure that before we conclude on this kind of situation we should get concrete evidence first .

It is impossible to believe this was an error, particularly where the news is coming from. United States has options for technically inclined citizens, if not the best in the world. Should a flaw arise in the voting system, it shouldn't be as a result of a software error, but rather a physical error due to maintenance or manipulation. Eventually, thousands of people will believe the news without questioning its authenticity. I thought rigged voting systems only exist in developing countries. Well, I guess I have been wrong.

The governor needed to raise the alarm, because if the notice was done by opposition party, I believe there would have been thousands of court cases by now  pointing fingers on the election and how 6000 ineligible voters were added in the voters register, so the governor needed to raise the alarm for his own safety, so it wouldn't look as if he knows anything about it. In as much as this is looking like a controversy at the moment, when it comes to an election, politicians do the most, this registration was not done by an ordinary citizen, this is obviously a desperate move by politicians to gain extra voting strength during election.

I am curious what's his real intentions or what he's trying to cover up. And I agree that a software should have been checked several times and there's an authentication of it that goes through a lot of manual auditing and checking before it's chosen to be used for voting system. So based on Reuter[1], it's now raised in the Justice Department and are now looking for the data of those noncitizens who were able to cast vote on the ballots. The next thing here is about the data integrity that will be given to them.

The Justice Department has already lost 16 cases in its bid to have access to non-public voter data. So they might have to focus on another means to investigate how a software ⁠glitch added about 6,600 noncitizens because they might not get any favorable court judgment.

In my country, dead citizens' data are not removed from the system. Their data are used to rig elections to favour some candidate. Politicians are specialists in election rigging.
