Should workers always look forward to being complimented or encouraged by their employers?

I listened to some people have a conversation and were complaining about the attitude of their employer being too strict and not complimenting them whenever they do a task or complete a job. This had me thinking about the importance of such compliments and encouragements even asides the salary that the employer pays them for the job. Do you see this as also important because some people will prefer as bosses to be feared than to be loved. For you, what do you prefer? will you like to be loved as a boss or feared? , and do you see see compliments as important from an employer.

Yeah of course, it matters a lot, because it encourages the workers to work hard and do much better. If employers never recognise, appreciate or compliment the work of the workers it easily kill their motivation, and they will not be afraid to do something wrong, or to make mistakes, neither will they even bother to correct their mistakes because they already know its out. Sometimes gift your employees for their job well done, that will increase their motivation and morale, and it will also improve their performance and productivity. This promote peace, happiness, unity, respect and mutual relationships / understanding between the workers and the employees.

It’s clearly very important in the workplace. I’ve experienced it firsthand, and I’m lucky to have a boss who’s truly wonderful. He always motivates us effectively. And the way he corrects my work is always very thoughtful. He doesn’t jump to blame. He first helps me understand the root of the problem and only then points out the mistakes that need to be corrected.

This has even made me who once considered quitting to focus on my own business, think twice. Because well, the sense of comfort I’ve gained has made me take my work more seriously and do my very best.

So I’m inspired and plan to adopt the same approach my boss uses when my business eventually has employees, for example.

The bottom line is that attitude is actually one of the most important assets in building a business, such as when it comes to fostering healthy relationships and collaboration in the workplace.

So, yah, praise from superiors is an important factor in motivating employees and boosting their morale.

Compliments from an employer is not mandatory if it's not written in the employment agreement that an employer must commend their employees for a job well done but it is necessary to motivate employees that they are doing very well. Not necessarily praising an employee when they do what they are paid to do but any extra efforts that they make for their job to be done and delivered as at when due should be appreciated.

If extraordinary input of employees makes their company to make more profit it is good to go beyond word of mouth to appreciate them, giving them a raise or incentives on top of their salaries will make them to feel really appreciated because it is because of money that they are working for you. If you treat your workers well they will naturally reciprocate by treating your customers the same way, your positive vibes towards them would manifest in their output.

Complimenting your employees as an employer is very helpful, when your employees complete a tax you should complete them because for a job well done because it makes feel loved and appropriate.

If you are the type who complements your staffs for their good job trust me when I say that they will never joke with your business, they will treat your business like their own and ensure it's runs smoothly.

If you are the type who don't complement your staffs or you feel the salaries you pay them is your complement to them you are making a very big mistake, always complement your staffs because it makes them feel valued and acknowledge for their good works.

Encouragement has some importance it plays on employees but however it doesn't mean they should feel entitled of a compliment from there employer because is not a must that they would appreciate you all the time after accomplishing a job, however as an employee we could actually no if your employer is not happy with your job through there reaction and expressions because there is no how a bad job would be done and the employer did not question his employees so actually when there is no complain from the employer means that it was a nice job and that should also be something to make the employees happy because depending so much on a compliment could get someone fired as we no that most employers lacks the affection of complimenting people.
Balance is all that matter, they say excess of something is bad. Though, Encouragement can happen in different form, it doesn't necessarily mean that the employer will always compliment their employees, as there are ways to show them compliment but excess of it might make them to start to misbehave, also if the employers don't, it will discourage them. And as for the employees, its better for them to do their work well and have the mindset of excepting nothing from their employers.

Complementing your employees is not mandatory but it is something you should do to make your employees feel appreciated for a job well done, I run a small business in the federal capital territory in my country and I complement my employees everyday not because I have to, but because I genuinely appreciate their hard work and dedication.

Complementing your employees is something every business owner is supposed to do, because if not for them I don't think your business will be running smoothly as it is running right now.

In as much as a lot of people might say that this is not important you need to see this from a different angle, complements from your employer can be an indication that you are doing your job properly and a lot of times this can be a motivation to work harder so you don't end up doing less than what you have been doing.

Not one is saying that giving complements to your employees is compulsory but you must understand that this can be a way of appreciating them if they are hard working enough, people actually value this.

Everyone are built differently, most employers even if you’re doing your job well they won’t compliment you verbally rather they have their own way of doing it,it could be buying you a gift as a means of thanking you for the eflort you’ve been rendering to support their job, that reminds me of my previous boss that’s how she compliment the best staffs for the year,I think I prefer that more than the actual compliment you meant. To be feared and to be loved are different things, workers are scared of strict employers and they love and get close to employers that are not strict, there’s one thing I learned from my boss then, she usually say don’t develop a cordial relationship with your employees there are lot of advantages to that statement.

For crying out loud we are all humans of which no one that wouldn't want to be complimented so in best interest you only have to do to others what you want others to do you, complements is very important from an employer and in most times it will come with identifying your strength and weaknesses as this is good for you in order to know areas that you are doing well and the areas that you are not doing well and through which you can improve and become better, some employers can be very wicked no matter what you do you can not please them to their satisfaction while the good ones will complement and appreciate your efforts over and over again and can even award some bonuses.

How are you going to have employees and you won’t complement them when they get a job properly done? It’s totally bad, even as a strict employer, you are suppose to complement them when they do things right, and correct them when they do thing’s wrongly. If you don’t complement your employees, they might end up not performing so well for you in the long run, because you not appreciating what they are doing for you, and it’s going to demoralize them which is going to affect you also.

Some employers even give their employees some money just to encourage them, things like this are going to motivate them, and will make them do things that will satisfy you always. Just because you complement your employees doesn’t mean you not going to be feared.

For you, what do you prefer? will you like to be loved as a boss or feared? ,

To be loved is preferred than to be feared as a boss. When people fear you then they will be uncertain about your reaction on certain issues or problems even when it is positive or negative. So because they are not certain about the reaction that a feared boss will give when they hear certain things or mistakes made in the organization, the worker may decide to conceal it, which may be to the detriment of the organization and the boss being the receiver of such inimical outcome. Thus, I prefer to be a friendly and loved boss because it will give me the opportunity to understand my workers and know which one to be retained or shuffled based on their output capacity. Also, you have the privilege to hear what sentiment they have with the organization. However, being friendly should have limit because if it becomes excess then the organizational rules is likely to be compromised. Therefore, there is limit to be friendly but surely, to be a difficult and strict boss doesn't always make staff free to give their best.

and do you see see compliments as important from an employer.

It is surely important and some boss understand this, they don't only do verbal compliments but they show it through gifts, bonuses, promotions etc because they know how far it can go to trigger the worker to put in more effort and that is to the benefit of the boss indirectly because the business will keep increasing.

They both look at their workers through different lenses. According to the first one, if he fears his workers, then his workers will do better work because of the fear of him and the loss of their jobs, which they never want. However, here, the work is just a burden. On the other hand, the second one, who treats his workers well, believes that love brings loyalty. If the workers are loyal, then they would create a positive environment and work with full dedication. I would say the second approach is the best, giving compliments and respect would bring the workers closer to him. With the salary they receive and the moral support provided, they will do their work with love in the best way possible.

I think this is not rather if the boss is the doing it or not, it's if the employee wants the complement. There is nothing emotional about working under a person, you accepted to work with your boss in under bad condition or soft condition, you promise to always deliver. If you feel some altitudes or behavior from your boss, you don't have the right to even complain but you have two options, it's either you overlook and continue the job or you simply resign, it's not that hard to do.

There some people that are naturally silent, they don't even like to have conversations with their employees except on meeting days, you will hardly see them and that's why many firms has HR, it's the responsibility of HR to report to the manager if you are capable of doing work there. So instead of working you want your boss to come and be telling you things "good job", "excellent", "wow", Grin. Common!!

The truth is that know when to play around and when to be serious, yes is still good when your employee’s fears you also , having that fear they won’t want to disappoint. So having both habit as an employer will be golden , which make you and you employees work more effectively.

First of all, as employee you should not expect compliments from from your employer not because it is something wrong but I feel like you are focused too much on the wrong thing. Everyone has different personalities and you should not expect the same thing from everyone, some people can be satisfied with your job but they will never give compliments

As an employer it is good to be free with your employees, not overly playful but there should be a relationship between you and them to ease the tension because if they are afraid of you they won't be able to give their best.

A lot of employers think that as long as they pay salaries promptly they don't need to do anything else but that's a wrong mentality to have.

Its generally known that love brings loyalty in  a working environment but nowadays it also causes failure in most cases that is if it is not accompanied with deciplinary actions and punishments if not reciprocated.
Many failed businesses today comes because the director loved and cherished the employees without knowing the heart of men are evil.  Am not saying its wrong loving our employees but some deciplinary actions and punishment must be attached if violated as that is the only way it can be maintained without regret at last.
Without fear in a working environment it will be difficult for there to be decipline. So the same way love is shown i think employees should be made to fear and respect the entrepreneurs also.

I've learned from my former boss, who's a very understanding one. Despite the strictness implied to us, it can't be ignored that the care was there as employees. And that's why we employees loved our boss, it's stressful to work for a marketing and sales company due to sales requirement every end of the month but, it was taken and done in a different approach by our boss. We've been applying with lesser pressure and were always told to keep on improving, and soon we'll also see ourselves in a better status. That old boss of mine was too boastful, not in a sense that's about annoying, but about the stories told to us by former employees who went through that kind of management and landed a better opportunity. On the other side of being feared, I've got a relative who's in a top management position of a known logistics company that has been feared by her subordinates and went to the point that she's been threatened and eavesdropped on by one of the guys about pulling out a gun. So we can see the result of being loved as a boss and feared by employees, we'll all like to be loved if we'll become a boss in the future.

People always love to be praised. When a person gets the love of his employer, then that person will be focused on his work, his mind will be cheerful and he will open his heart to everyone and praise his employer and his organization. But when an employer is strict with the employees and speaks in an angry mood, then that employer can be considered bad by everyone and the organization can be damaged. Therefore, it is necessary to give importance to getting the love of the employer of the organization and to fulfill the responsibilities of the organization seriously. When the employees fulfill the responsibilities of the organization properly, then any employer will not be strict and will protect his employees with love. Always remember that no person is bad in this world, everyone has love and that love must be earned.

The truth is that know when to play around and when to be serious, yes is still good when your employee’s fears you also , having that fear they won’t want to disappoint. So having both habit as an employer will be golden , which make you and you employees work more effectively.
Employees' respect for their bosses should never be diminished, as it's what keeps them working effectively in the company. I won't mention fear, as that's more about respect or a sense of awe from employees toward their bosses. However, during breaks or breaks in work, I don't think it's wrong for bosses to joke around a little with their employees, as this can help ease the tension between them. So, a little joking around is fine as long as it's appropriate and doesn't happen while employees are working.

Yes, you are right. The subordinates will respect the boss and fear him. You can call this word veneration which is fear mixed with respect. In the workplace, there is a hierarchy and it is easy to distinguish between skilled people. While working in an organization, I had to spend most of my time with my boss one step above me. I respected him and at the same time I feared him and joked with him. Actually, it all depends on how you diversify your workplace. Just as rest is necessary in between work, entertainment is also necessary, this increases productivity and benefits the owner of the organization.
